Two favourable options available are - airways -railways.Since we keep shifting from one state to another, I have realized it's more convinent to travel via train.Most airways company don't allow pet travel if your pet has a small muzzle like in pugs, lhasas, shitzu.air India and spice jet do allow. But then your pet is kept in the cargo box all alone, hungry and thirsty. Cost comes up to rs. 15000 or more. You have to buy an IATA crate which costs around 5-8000.I prefer travelling via train since we will be there physically with our pet. You can book an ac coupé (2 seats ) in first class ac. Go for rajdhani or shatabdi as they take lesser time to reach. Apprx. 36 hours. You will be provided with your meals. Carry food, water, anxiety medicine of your pet and an absorbant mat along.

Which means there are options available at both ends of the market - luxury and budget, both. So a lot depends on how you choose to travel.Its completely possible to spend less than 1000 INR per day( 500 for stay + 500 for transport, food, drinks). But I would say that budget 2000 rs if you plan to get ayurvedic massages, boat rides, plantation tours; etc since these cost a bit and sometimes there are no options.
