How do I know exactly what I want?

I went through this as well. I have seem many other people go through this. There can be multiple reasons, but I don’t think figuring them out will serve any purpose. Most of the things are interesting when they are new. Everybody knows this. However, if you do something for a really long time, then it will be interesting again! Once you realize the underlying philosophy of the field (and maybe want to add more to it), then it will seem really beautiful. You have to work a lot to reach that stage. What I feel now is that I never let the thing that interested me, kill me. If you are into Robotics, then do it so much that you either understand well but realize it’s not for you or you like the reality of doing Robotics so much that it becomes your passion. I always found something that I like but never did it enough to find out whether I really liked it or just liked the idea and abstract of it. Don’t do the same mistake. Spend at least good amount of time on something fairly interesting before discarding it.

I do not like the usage of "I wanted to know". What is a better alternative?

You have given the answer in  your own question! Another way of saying "I wanted to know', is 'Could someone please tell me...". A more sophisticated way is "Could someone enlighten me as to..."

Why do I want to know what my ex is up to and if he’s with anyone new if I’ve moved on from him and regret being with him in the first place?

In my mind this is a symptom of old habits. Whenever someone has been a part of our lives, it takes a while to break the habit of thinking about them daily. These thoughts lead you down a road that can only slow down your moving on. After I breakup, I suggest that you avoid social media, which just throws fuel on the fire. Comparison is the stealer of joy. These are natural thoughts to have, but try to push them away. Even if you discover that he is seeing someone new, this will just lead to more questions in your mind. You won’t know anymore than you did before the discovery.

I want to know what my future holds?

I want to know who am I going to marry? Am I with the right guy now? Should I be working at this place of business? Or should I be doing something else? Should I be living in Jersey? Or should I be living in another state? Will I ever have children? When is this all going to happen? I'm 33 yrs old now. I don't know what to do with my life. I don't know if i'm with the "right" guy. I don't know if there is someone better out there for me. I want to know if I should stay here or move there. Is there any Sylvia Brown's out there?

Who wanted to know what "chathuringmes" meant?
