From Germany, we quite often buy Italian or French books or DVDs on the French or Italian Amazon websites (usually that's just possible with Amazon, not with other websites: taxes on books and therefore prizes vary in the different countries; but Amazon used to pay taxes only at the cheapest place in Europe, Luxembourg).Funny thing is, when Italian DVDs are delivered (like Dr. Who; my wife uses that for learning the language), they have no classification for Germany, so it's delivered as "adult content" and has to be signed at reception with the post-men (actually post-women) at the front door.The tricky thing with buying stuff in the US (at the globe page): besides the high shipping costs (e.g. for two books: 4$ each plus 4$ shipping at Amazon direct), you have to pay additional taxes and often customs charges on top. Often that doubles the price of the item- and if it comes really bad, you have to pick up your parcel at customs in person. We had some friends married to American soldiers, and sending to a PX counts as national shipping from the US. Unfortunately, the near PX was closed and also the marriages are broken...
