I would tell your mother. She wouldn't be mad, its not your fault, the thing was vicious. My father, got bit by a rat, a couple of years back. When we called the doctors to see if he needed to go in, they said that rodents don't usually carry rabies. And they didn't need to see him. Chances, are they will say the same to you. Unless the wound is deep. have your mom call the doctors office, or ask to speak with someone on the phone from the Emergency Room. Good Luck!
Will a wild Rat bite me?
I very much doubt it. I've sat in a chicken run watching the wild rats, and some of those came within a few feet of me. they had absolutely no interest in harming me, and until they got used to the fact I was there, and not trying to attack them, they were very wary of me. they were just getting on with their ratty little lives. why would a small prey animal attack a larger animal unless it was cornered? they won't seek you out in your bed to bite or kill you you have no reason to be worried. also, in a house, it's more likely to be mice than rats. and they're even more wary of humans. this is the PET rodents section by the way. but as someone with a good deal of experience with both domestic and wild rats, I can assure you, they won't harm you. they just want to get on with their own lives.

Your chihuahua should be fine, if she is up to date on rabies. There is little more that a vet could do than clean the wound, they will not suture bites or punctures anyways, depending on how bad the bite your vet can prescribe some antibiotics to keep it from getting infected.

i had two rabbits who dies 1 month ago thought hvd or vhd not to sure which one. when the rabbits was not looking to well i took it to the vets the said it was that but they was not 100% sure, but the other day my neighbor had seen a rat in his shed and my rabbits used to run out of my garden and in to his and used to hide under the shed and after that one of them had hurt its foot which we could not explain. well im just wondering if was not hvd/vhd but it was a rat bite
