I Was Born In China Does That Make Me Asian

Im asian..does that mean i was born in china? cause my dog is a chiwowoa and i feel like he is like mecian?

No.

I was born in china does that make me asian?

Both of my parents are Latinos but I was born in china would that make me asian? People say I look asian so would I pass? Of born I'm china? Also my friend was wondering if you live your whole life in china but you were born I korea does that make you chinese?

As a native born in China, why do I find American-born Chinese very foreign looking?

It's because if you have an ABC that looks like a local, you don't notice them.  If you put me with a group of local Chinese in Beijing, you won't be able to spot me unless I start talking.  It's because I'm likely to be dressed in investment banking clothes, and so are all of the other locals.  One other thing is that I was born and raised in Florida, and a lot of things that you think of as ABC-behavior, I tend to think of California-behavior, and a lot of stereo-typical ABC-behavior comes from that part of the United States.  People from California talk, move, and dress in a certain way, they tend to shape their bodies in a certain way (i.e. tan and athletic), and are pretty recognizable if you put them into another part of the United States.Because I grew up in a different part of the US, even when people figure out that I'm not a local, they never guess that I'm an ABC, because I don't act like their stereotype of one.  Once they hear me speak English and Mandarin, people quickly figure out that I'm not a local, but I've never been pegged for an ABC.  People sometimes assume that I'm Korean. The other issue is human psychology.  If you think of yourself as part of group X, you will change your behaviour to conform with group X, and this happens even unconsciously.  If you think of yourself as not part of group X, you won't, and since a lot of ABC's don't think of themselves as Chinese, they make no particular effort to "act like a local."Something I find very amusing is how wildly different the Chinese stereotype of an ABC is from the American stereotype of an ABC.  Ironically, one reason I think local Chinese have difficulty picking me out as an ABC, is that I actually behave closer to the American stereotype of an ABC (i.e. a socially awkward computer nerd) than the Chinese stereotype of an ABC (i.e. a socially outgoing, fashionable, sports enthusiast).

Why do Asians born in the U.S still have some kind of "asian" accent?

I call the asian accent "fobby"
Yeah, I just got fobby over this winterbreak because I've been speaking asian with my parents for way to long. So now I'm back with a funny sounding "three." XD :D

If both my parents were born in China and I was born in America, am I 100% American?

With the information you have given and a UK perspective...

1 Heritage is what you inherit....which would be Chinese ................but could be called ethnicity...which is association, affiliation, culture, customs...these can be from your ethnic background and upbringing and from the environment you were brought up in..........So Chinese and American

2 Chinese...I believe in the US they would say Asian, although in the UK we don't normally say Asian, we would say Chinese

3 Your nationality is the country of your birth and/or where you hold citizenship..............so American

So if I was to ask you which wouldn't happen as it is insensitive and rude to ask a question like that here, unless you know the person very well.....I would expect you to say I'm American...maybe American with Chinese ancestry ( but ONLY in very few situations) but as an American you would possibly say Chinese -American..................................

Asian Boyfriend got me pregnant?

I am a white female and have been dating my boyfriend for 7 months. He's was born in China and moved here with his family at the age of three. His parents and family are really traditional. I recently found out I was pregnant, with twins. He's afraid to tell his family because of how they will react. (We're still unsure if we are going to keep the babies because of medical reasons) How badly do you think his parent would react, and how big of a deal is premarital sex and unwed pregnancy in Chinese culture?
