I Was Detained And Searched By Tsa Because Of My Color Can You Help

What was your reaction to the headline "TSA groping children".?

As you all know, you have to either be looked at in your birth-clothes or be touched to get to your paid seat on that plane. I've just seen a picture "Gone too far?" where one of the officers was touching a little girl at about age 5. How ridiculous is this going to get.? What would your reaction be if you saw that while YOU were in line or (even) if that was YOUR child.?

If the police get a search warrant, and they find something that they think is meth, can they arrest me?

There are field test kits I used when I commanded a narcotics task force that contained reagents that reacted with various suspected drugs. A sample of the drug is put into a plastic bag, and the reagent capsule was broken. Within a short period of time a color would show. If the correct color or combination of colors came up you had your probable cause to change a detention into an arrest. There are field test kits for every drug commonly found, and most law enforcement agencies have them available to their officers.Obviously, another sample of whatever was seized would be sent for laboratory testing, and the documented results would be introduced at trial.

When you go to the airport and TSA scans your ID, are they looking to see if you are a criminal/wanted or have warrants?

That would be nice, but the TSA is usually scanning your boarding pass to read what the airline printed on it - they are getting your name, origin airport, departure date, and precheck status. Your ID is viewed with a black light to check for anti-forgery features on your fancy government issue ID.Any searching of your name to see if you’re being sought by law enforcement is done with the airline flight reservation system taking the passenger list and relaying it to the TSA ahead of you getting to the airport. They can and do detect wanted individuals ahead of arrival to the airport if you are of a high enough stature for the TSA to draft other agencies to come and remove you - at that point you won’t be getting past the ID checker with a black light and list of names to look for. Just this morning I spent an hour at the TSA in Nashville - one of the longest lines I’ve ever seen. No one didn’t make it through, based on the thousands of people that walked through it’s certain that someone had a bench warrant and managed through because of it’s severity. On the other hand, the bottle of water I forgot about in my laptop bag - it was detained (opps!).There is more scrutiny of your wanted status at a traffic stop than at the airport, otherwise everyone who skipped traffic court would be in a holding pen at the airport and the planes would be a little less crowded.

Did you hear about the nipple ring airport incident?

What about if you have one.....you know....on the kitty.....

What info do TSA agents see when they scan your ID and boarding pass?

Most airports only scan boarding passes. It contains your name, surname, flight number and destination, departure time, and a few rhings that would be meaningless to most people. If your ID is checked or scanned at the airport, it is to make sure you are the person to whom that boarding pass was issued to, by checking your name/surname and photo.Long story short, TSA sees bare minimum nformation required to make sure you are yourself and that the boarding pass is yours.

Will Security at an Airport automatically check for outstanding warrants?

I have a friend who wants to see his kids in the city/county where he has an outstanding warrant (FTA). He is traveling from another city and state where he resides, and is going to where his kids are in another City and State where his warrant is. If he follows air flight rules, policies, etc - Is there any chances of him being arrested at anytime during the flight there and back to home? Does the airport in any basic security measure see any outstanding warrants? Do they automatically check for any background check? I have heard a few times that all they care is that you match your ID with the purchased ticket and that you pass the metal detector without any issues. Is that true, or is it different than that. I need details, please. Thank you in advance.

Can airport security detect a small amount of marijuana?

Small amounts? No.Do we care? No. Mostly no, anyway. There are a few people who will call the police if we find it, so it’s still a risk. A small risk, but a risk. The only way to find a small amount is by accident when looking for something else. So don’t leave it in the open, just to be safe. We don’t want to find it. That only works for marijuana though. Anything else will be reported. The police don’t care either, which is why we don’t care. Calling them for under an ounce pisses them off. Pissing off police officers is not a favorite pastime for me.Shortly before I was rudely terminated (medical) we had a new Lead in baggage. He came from the passenger side and they’re a different lot. Baggage officers are more relaxed and easy going than the passenger side. A lot of the passenger side folk are cutthroat. Leads and above, mostly. So someone called me because they found marijuana in a suitcase - another transfer from the passenger side. I saw the tiny amount and said “Don’t worry about it, send it.” That person didn’t believe me and called his buddy Lead from the Passenger side instead. I knew it when I saw the two police officers show up. I was a little ticked off.I told one of the officers it wasn’t me because I knew they were about to get angry. Silently - they never showed it. I had already told the newbie Lead not to call and I told him why. I also told the cop that. I wanted him to know exactly who it was. I’d been working with these cops for years and knew most of them.I had 11 years experience and seniority over Mr Hero Lead. Those are the ones you gotta watch out for. They will do anything to climb the ladder and step on anyone on the way up.The moral here? Put it in your checked bag. Baggage officers don’t have a hero complex. When we get a newbie who does, we drive them out and have them begging to go back to passenger side.

What are some reasons you would be stopped by TSA and customs when entering the USA while being a US citizen?

TSA and Customs will respond to you differently. TSA are the guys you meet when you’re trying to pass through security in an airport. Coming from another country, you’re already in the airport and can move to your terminal or exit without seeing a TSA Agent. However, you might meet a customs officer who can perform a random inspection of your luggage. It won’t matter if you’re a citizen, you can still be inspected because you’re at a point of entry. You can also be targeted depending on which nation you came from. If you’re coming from the Middle East or South America you’re probably going to have to answer some questions. And it also depends on how you answered your Customs entry worksheets. Since a CBP Officer is a law enforcement officer they have discretion on how they choose to go about encountering you.
