I Was Hit By A Vehicle And I Have No Insurance.

Is it all i can get from insurance for being hit by a car?

I was hit by a car in December - NYC - hit and run - got plates - got witnesses - 8 tib/fib fractures - 2 surgeries - still in a cast - might have to walk with a cane forever - will need at least one cosmetic surgery when it heals -filed for lawsuit.
I have been out of work for almost 8 months now and will never be able to go back to work - i will have to change fields, but im not able to work yet. I also dont qualify for any disabily benefits or lost earnings.
My lawyer tells me there is a certain amount of money i can get but i need more than that because of all the medical bills, money i could have made working, a pure hell of pain and not being able to cross one street without thinking i am risking my life doing it.
Is it true or is there a way i can get more money?
(i think the driver doesnt have any personal assets)

I got hit by a car and I have no insurance!!!?

I just bought a used car about 2 weeks ago and it has no license plates, it is not insured, and it isn't registered at the dmv. I have attempted to register the car but money is tight right now. I was going through an avenue at about 25mph. I was getting close to crossing an intersection when another vehicle going the opposite direction from me was made a left turn. I was going slow enough to slow down for the car to avoid an accident. My vehicle was already completely past the crosswalk when the light turned yellow. another car waiting to make a left turn suddenly makes the turn and I end up hitting the car, although it was not my fault, I had the right of way. The person admitted to being their fault. I had the cops go by and informed them that I was not insured nor was my car registered since I just bought the car. The person that hit my car says they will file a claim to their insurance admitting to being their fault. What are the odds that this person's insurance company will pay for damages? Am I completely screwed!!!??

Crashed leased car, no insurance.?

I borrowed a friend's car, which is being leased. Because of ice on the road I hit a tree, and caused about 9,000$ worth of damage to the car.

Came to find out there was no insurance on the car.

Does the lease company force insurance onto a car if the owner does not get insurance?

Can you tell the leasing company to front the repair costs and pay them off little by little?

I hit another car and I have no insurance?

My boyfriend just gave me his old car as a gift, I planned on getting insurance to it the moment I put it under my name, but I was driving today and I rear ended another car. I was placed in police car as they did some investigation. The other police officer found out that the other car was a rental and that they had Avis insurance. I kept asking the police officer when do I find out about making payments to the other car. He gave me a ticket and said there will be no payments for the other car. Me and and the other car never exchanged any information. This is my first accident, I am a little confused. Am I suppose to get sued. And what is the likelihood that that the other car's insurance would charge me 10k or more for the accident? I want an idea so I can start saving money and trying to make payments now. Is there a way I can start making payments without having to go to court to get sued.

My brother got into a car accident with no car insurance he hit someone from the back MINOR damages no injuries cops was called..wts next?

Your dufus "brother" (actually, you) is very lucky -- really. You're only going to get two tickets (driving without insurance and following too closely) and have to pay for all the damages to both vehicles. It could have been much much worse. You could have caused a major accident in which an expensive vehicle was destroyed and people were seriously injured or killed. In that case, your life would be over as you now know it, with no insurance to protect you.

I have no car insurance and the accident was my fault. What happens if I can't or won’t pay for the damages?

If you were uninsured you have several options:You can pay the other party or his insurance company if they paid for the repairs. You may be able to negotiate a compromise based upon comparative negligence factors or impecunity. It doesn’t hurt to try to settle for less than the demanded amount. Trust me, they would rather get some money now than wait for an installment agreement to be fulfilled. Payment will allow you to retain your Operator’s License and vehicle registration. You can enter an installment agreement to repay the damage month by month. Again, you may be able to negotiate a compromise. Do not promise to pay more per month than you can afford. Defaulting would have negative consequences. An installment agreement will allow you to keep your Operator’s License and vehicle registration. You can ignore the demands for payment. Sooner or later the nice sheriff will drop by your house to invalidate your Operator’s License and confiscate your vehicle license plates. Depending on the state, you will not be able to regain your license or registration privileges for a number of years. You can post a bond with the state’s Safety Responsibility Unit, usually equal to the cost of repairs. If you do that and lose a lawsuit, the state will turn the funds over to the plaintiff. If you win, they’ll return the deposit to you. A bond will protect your license and registration. You may get sued and have a judgment awarded against you. If you had not posted a bond and could not pay the judgment, it would affect your credit rating for years to come. You would also lose your Operator’s License and registration privileges.I recommend you choose the installment agreement if you do not have funds to pay the full amount at once. Do this swiftly so that you don’t get a visit from the sheriff to either serve you with suit papers or confiscate your license and plates.

Someone hit me, I have no insurance, what happens now?

I was recently in an auto accident, the other party was totally at fault, I have eye witnesses that can confirm. I've had a really difficult past few months and I let my auto insurance lapse unintentionally , totally irresponsible of me I admit it. I did get cited by the police for having no insurance, but that's all.

With the exception of the nice fat fine I'll have to pay (definitely will keep me on my toes about auto insurance in the future), is there anything else I'm liable for? Will his insurance still have to pay for repair of my vehicle (the shop put it at 97% totaled, so it might just get totaled)?

Minor car accident, other driver has no insurance?

I was hit from behind at a red light, waiting to make a right on red. There was no damage to their car, minor damage to mine.. scuffs, scratches, two small cracks, and my license plate frame is broken. Police were not called since it was so minor. They gave me their insurance info, I have their names, numbers, and address, make and model of the car. I called their insurance company to file a claim and they havent had insurance for a couple years. The adjuster at that company got ahold of the owner of the car, they currently have no insurance. What do I do next? I called my police dept, they said i can come up and fill out a report. Or do i try and work with these people and have them pay out of pocket like they said they would. Or do I just forget about it. Im just a little confused on what i should do since the damage is very minor, but the fact is that they gave me false insurance info and they hit me! What would you do?
If I get in an accident again i will be calling the police!

Car insurance coverage question?

A. Comprehensive means, stuff that happens to your car, that is NOT you driving into something, or something driving into you, and is also NOT flipping the car. Examples are fire, theft, vandalism, broken glass, and in some states, collision with an animal. If you have a loan on your car, the bank will require you to carry it. I carry it, because it's very easy to get a cracked windshield, which can cost a lot to replace.

B. Collision is when you run into something with your car, or another car (or shopping cart, or bike) runs into your car, or you flip your car.

C. Uninsured coverage is when you are hit by someone else who does not have insurance, and you have bodily injury - it pays medical bills, and pain and suffering. It also covers you as a pedestrian, and covers you for hit-and-run injuries.

D. Underinsured - this is when you're hit by somebody who has some insurance (usually state minimum limits), but you have A LOT of injuries. This pays the difference between how much coverage he has, and how much you bought. Example: You have $100,000 UIM. He has $20,000 bodily injury. He hits you, you have two broken legs, are in traction in the hospital for 6 weeks and need a month of rehab afterwards. Your hospital bills are $120,000. His policy pays $20,000, and your policy pays $80,000.

Your agent should be explaining these things. If they can't/won't, you need a new agent.

By the way, there is no "acts of God" in the insurance world. It's not written into any policy. It's not a proper insurance term. Also, flood damage to your car IS covered under comprehensive. NO CAR DAMAGE IS EVER COVERED BY A HOMEOWNERS POLICY, contrary to what someone above posted.
