I Was In The Air Force Reserves Had Six Weeks Basic And 9 Weeks Tech School How Many College

Attend college while in the air force reserve?

You can be in the AFR and still attend college. You will need to time your Basic so that it doesn't conflict with your college courses.

As far as the school working with you, you will need to tailor your classes around the reserve commitment. Also, your reserve flight may be willing to be flexible, but you need to be pretty sharp and not screw up.

Financial aid might be effected by your pay, but considering your pay amount, it probably won't be by much. You will need to talk with your financial counselor at school to get details about that.

Good Luck

Can I quit the Air force Reserve before basic training?

No, you cannot just quit.

You have two choices.

1. Get your recruiter to help you get your reserve commander to ewlease you out of your reserve enlistment. That will effect you being able to enlist in the Air force, but not other services. It will not effect being commissioned.

2. refuse to ship to basic training - then you will recieve an entry level discharge for " peformance and conduct "

That will effect you ever enlisting in any service branch or being commissioned in the future.

3. Unlike active duty, where yoiu swear into DEP the first time and in the military the 2nd time.

In theReserves and National Guard, you swear into the military, the first time you swear in.

IE: you are already in thre AF Reserves, whether you have went to basic yet or not.

What Air Force Job has the shortest tech school and does the air force offer a split option?

I want to go to school full time because I want to become a doctor. I'm not looking for a slacker job. I just don't want to miss a semester of school. I want to know if I can do basic training one summer and then do my technical training the next summer. I don't know if this option is still available.

Shortest time for Air Force Tech School?

I want to go into the reserves during the summer and start college in the fall, however, because I have to go to Tech School, I would miss the beginning of college. What is the shortest amount of time I could possibly attend tech school. I chatted with an advisor and he said some are as short as 6 weeks. Even with 6 weeks I would miss the first couple of weeks of school.

What is it like to attend the US Air Force's tech school?

That depends ..When you enlist in the Air Force you will attend a technical school after you have graduated from Basic Military Training (boot camp). Officers attend tech school as well, but only after Officer Training School (OTS). Tech school is drastically different between different jobs. It will all depend on what job you get. Some people find out their job before boot camp and some during boot camp. For me, tech school was about 9 months long at Goodfellow Air Force Base, Texas and I knew my job before I left. There are different tech schools all over the country and each one is a different length of time.As far as what tech school is like, I can only describe my experience. Tech School sort of acts as the Air Force’s process of separating the airman who shouldn’t be in the Air Force. There were many people in my 9 months of school who got discharged, some for medical reasons, some didn’t pass their courses, and some got caught doing drugs, drinking underage, or sexually assaulting someone. Many people get to tech school and go a little crazy with drugs or alcohol because of what they just experienced in boot camp, which gets them kicked out. The Air Force doesn’t hesitate to kick new airman out during tech school to prevent the Air Force wasting more money training someone who isn’t going to last. Some people get lucky (usually those that don’t pass their courses but show promise), and their commander’s allow them to switch to a different career field.Tech school is sort of like taking a college class. You go to school everyday and learn your career skills. You have one class who you are with until graduation. You take tests regularly and can stay after to study. Some schools have day or night shifts, which you would be assigned to regardless of your preference. You march to and from school everyday. Single Airman live in the dorms on base and married airman can live on or off base, but still have to march with everyone else. Usually after school, you march to PT (physical training) and participate in about an hour-long work out. You have a few hours to yourself at night (hopefully your dorm roommate is cool) before starting again the next day. Typically, school is Monday - Friday.Again, these are my experiences only. An Air Force tech school differs greatly depending on your AFSC (Air Force Specialty Code).

Can I use the air force community college credits anywhere?

My recruiter and I were talking about the AFCC and he said basically these credits can be used in almost any public college. I was just wondering if this was a cheap trick or is this true? This is a big selling point for in enlisting. I really want to get a quality education in the AF and out. But having some credits before i leave would give me a reall boost.

Did you serve in the US Air Force?

I served in the US Air Force from 1967 thru 1971 as a Jet Aircraft Mechanic, 1 and 2 Engines. My first year; I went to basic at Lackland AFB, Texas, went to technical school at Sheppard AFB, Wichita Falls, Texas, and was assigned to Bergstrom AFB, Austin, Texas, where I apprenticed on T-37 Jet Aircraft. My second year was in South Vietnam; 3 months at Tan Son Nhut RVN, Saigon, working on T-39 Jet Passenger Aircraft for 3 months. The next 9 months of my overseas tour was spent at Bien Hoa RVN, about 20 miles north of Saigon, where I was a Crew Chief on a F-100 Super Saber Jet Aircraft. My third and fourth years were spent at Homestead AFB, Florida, where I worked in Transit Alert on a variety of jet aircraft for all services. My time in the Air Force was the best time of my life and I would do it all over again. Jump to 1977. Because of my Air Force time and technical education I was able to get a position in the Army Reserves as an Army Reserve Technician near my home, at Ft. George G. Meade, working as an SSGT, E-6, on OH-58, UH-1H, CH-47, helicopters and T-42 fixed wing aircraft.

How long is air force tech school for diagnostic imaging?

I'm a X-ray tech in the Air Force and currently we have one of the longest tech schools in the Air Force, first you do 4 months for phase 1 on Sheppard AFB, Texas and then you go to a phase 2 site which you will be assigned to unless you are among the top of your class and then you will get to choose, in my case i was the second best of my class and i choose Travis AFB, CA not all bases are phase 2 sites so you might end up in a pretty crappy baseif your class average is not above 90%, but phase 2 lasts only 9 months so after that you either get to stay there if that base is in need for techs or you will go to another base which will be your first duty station, you can swap bases if you find somebody who wants to go to the base you got, i got lucky because initially i got assigned to Lackland AFB and believe me ones you leave BMT you hope you never go back to that base so i found somebody who wanted to go to lackland and that person had Eglin AFB, FL and i am from Orlando so it worked perfectly but anyways technically Diagnostic Imaging tech school lasts 13 months,
Phase 1: 14 weeks (fundamentals and some hands on with fake patients)
Phase 2: 9 months (more theory but for the most part it is all on the job training with real patients)
you earn 81 semester ours that you can apply towars you Associates in Applied Sciences from the community college of the Air Force or CCAF, if you have any questions feel free to ask, i graduated phase 2 back in April so i thing that for the most part my info is still accurate. good luck
