How to start off a Singing Youtube Channel Successfully?

I totally disagree with Emma Jane. It is not luck at all. Promotion and exposure is how you become successful. I own Shipwreck Productions, www.getshipwrecked.ca, and I produce, manage, and promote bands and artists. Been doing it now for about 21 years.

It's easy to start a channel at youtube. Just click the register or sign up link. As soon as you register you have a channel. Then click the "upload" link to start uploading your videos to your channel. You can also check out the help and FAQ sections at youtube for more help with this.

It's going to take some work to successfully promote yourself, but if you have friends and family who are supportive of your efforts you can try to get them to help out.
Yes, post your videos on your Facebook wall, but don't stop there. Ask the people on your friends list to post them on their walls as well. Have them ask their friends to do the same, and so on and so on. It's also a good idea to create a seprarate Facebook group dedicated to your videos. Get your friends to "like" the group. This way anyone who looks that the "interests" of the people who have liked your group will see it and hopefully check it out and like it to, and so on.

Don't stop with Facebook. Find as many social networking sites as you can to do the same with. Some examples are MyYearBook, Yahooo Groups, MSN Groups, etc. There are also many music related networking sites on line. Search Google to find them. Use keywords such as singers network. musician network, band network, etc....

Create a web site to embed your videos on. There are plenty of free web hosts on the net and plenty of very inexpensive ones as well. The best route to go here is to go with an inexpensive one that you can use your own address on such as www.myyoutubechannel.com or the like. Submit the address to the search engines and promote the site on the above mentioned social network sites as well.

This is a good start and if you are creative you can get some ideas of your own from these ones. Like I said though, it does take work. Nothing in the music business is overnight, despite what they tell you about Justin Bieber or any of these other so called "overnight successes".
When you're promoting yourself, remember to ALWAYS be professional!!!
Good luck.
John
