Which is correct formal British English: "I am writing you to let you know" or "I am writing to you to let you know"?
This is one of my pet hates. Both are completely redundant phrases I believe. When a letter starts "I am writing to inform you" I always think "well that's rather obvious you are writing since the letter is in my hand". In my view it is a lazy way to start a letter. It also wastes your time typing it, and my time reading it. Just start with "I wish to inform you" if you must. Even then there are other imaginative ways to begin a letter depending on the information included.

At the university, the word argument does not mean a "verbal fight"; it means a "position paper", an essay that uses evidence to support your understanding of and/or your preferred course of action in response to a particular research topic, question, or problem. Need written statement to apply for food stamps?
I was informed that in order to be on food stamps that I would need proof of identification, and proof of where I live, and apparently I need a written statement from the person I live with to obtain that. But I dont know what a written statement is?

If you really don't know her, it will depend on whether you want your room mate finding out or not. I've had to tell someone this before, twice, and although they were initially upset, they were happy and relieved to find out. They both ended their relationships and moved on. I would do it the old way and actually write a letter and mail it. Perhaps you should print it out so that your handwriting can't be used to trace it back to you. Whatever you do or say, be sensitive to the fact it will deeply affect and hurt her. People who are cheated on generally end up wanting to know about it, many even wishing they knew sooner, but they don't necessarily want to know all the details, just the facts. You can write "I am so sorry to have to write to you about this, but I have information pertaining to your husband I believe you have the right to know. I have inserted the information in the enclosed envelope, and leave it to you to decide whether you wish to read, or toss it away. Please know that there is no malicious intent behind this act, only that I believe you have the right to this information."Now, write a second note to put into it saying something to the effect of "Your husband (insert his name) has been romantically involved with (insert her name). They have been involved in this relationship since (insert timeframe), but I only recently became aware that he was married. The grammar is correct, but the rhetoric is faulty. In other words, I have no idea what it means. Generally, in British common law, there is a defense called “laches”. Basically, after some point, it is unreasonable for them to ask for their money back. How long, would be dependent on circumstances. If it’s a small number relative to your salary, probably a few months after you’ve been gone is the longest that they could ask. For instance, after the books have closed for their fiscal year, and the money has already been accounted to the government as “payroll expense”, it’s just not reasonable for them to try to collect it.On the other hand, if it’s large in relation to your salary - like a few months wages - then they would have the full statute of limitations for whatever equitable theory that they might sue for return under.“Money had and received” is one such theory, with a two year statute of limitations. What happens when you get a write-up at school?
Generally being 'written up' at school meant the reporting of an event or occurrence; you most likely were one of the many who were listed amongst others to a higher individual (of authority)...these write_ups are (a form of) attempt to apply disciplinary actions/effort to maintain behaviors acceptable to the standards or norms placed by the faculty and/or the educational system you are being educated within. Possibly not having your name will keep you out of trouble for a bit, the teacher simply informed you that she took note & you are to be aware...take heed this was a warning...next time she may remember your face & then your name will be known! haha..Steer clear of trouble and that TEACHER! *wink

What made you give up writing a book?
I’m struggling to write a 4th book in a series. It’s even been requested by readers of the rest of the series.Thing is, a book has to come out and tell me what it’s about. I know what this 4th book is supposed to be about, but it’s not telling me how to do it properly. I even have the basic outline.I know the difference. Every book I have written has informed me. This one hasn’t. My readers want it. I want to write it for them. It’s just not happening yet.From this experience, I can easily imagine this book will never see the light of day. I’m trying and have enlisted a couple of friends to help. Still, it’s my invention. My friends can only critique and help. The burden is on me to come up with the viable plot which will make it work.Why isn’t it working? I think because of the little appreciation the first three have received. I do have some very enthusiastic fans, but the sales aren’t showing the public has caught on. It’s hard to do something if you’re not rewarded. Hell, I give the books away enough.
