London in Christmas?

My family and I are planning to travel to London for Christmas. How is London in Christmas? What do you suggest doing during our stay? Places to go, stuff to see? Thanks for your help.

What are some American things to do in London?

I'm gonna be away from home (Los Angeles) for three weeks during Xmas time for business. The problem is I get homesick. And with England being very European, small, cloudy, gray, dirty and overpopulated, I am bound to get homesick FAST. Can you guys tell me what American things are available in London so I don't get homesick? Do you guys have McDonalds? Are there American bars? Are there American tv shows? Do you guys have CSI Miami?

Where should I stay in London during Christmas?

Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park is awesome; theres’s carnival rides and a German style beer tent. The shops on Oxford and Regent Street go all out with their displays (some start planning them in July!) and also no trip to London is complete without stopping by Harrod’s; they also have a killer selection of Christmas goodies. If you are a tourist in London on Christmas day, research and book in advance where you will have a meal as most places will be closed. Also, all tubes, buses and trains will not be running. However, this is a great opportunity to cycle around the city with no one around!

When is the best time of the year to move flats in London?

Having moved a few times I'd say there is no clearly better time, there are a few things that change around the year, but few offer distinct price advantages.Really "quiet" times like before Xmas, during xmas and New Year may suffer from lulls, but that means that it can be hard to schedule appointments and there are likely to be fewer flats on the market. Generally during the winter apartments will look way worse, the gardens may be muddy, the flats smell moldy, this doesn't make them cheaper, it just means that as the year goes on, you will start to love your place more and more as the infrequent sunny days will make most things seem way better than you expected. The busiest times like July and August are a little tricky, mainly due to an influx of new people and students to the city and the fact that many people like moving homes at this time. This does not really make it harder. It just makes the market move way faster, so you will need to pounce on any deals and you may need to fight against more people. At the same time there will be way more supply, so if you need a specific type of place, you will have more to choose from and you can often find that contracts and other admin aspects happen faster at this time, which is handy. If you really want a deal, the only way to really use timing to get this is to pick a quiet time of the year, like perhaps late November and be prepared to move in very quickly. At this time of year, the property that is on the market and is empty will be prime for negotiation as some landlords may start to worry that the place won't be moved into until January. So a promise of money in the hand soon should bring the price down 10-20% for a year contract. But having said this, the fact the place is still on the market and empty, is likely a sign it was overpriced on the market or that there is something odd about it. So even then, you're not getting a "true" deal.

What is your "must do" in London on Christmas?

Christmas in London is a magical and absolutely charming time. There are lots of Christmas activities, and I would suggest you to listen to carols on Trafalgar square or in the Westminster Abbey, sail with Santa on the Thames, ice skate at Canary Wharf where LUMINOCITY lights spectacle takes place or next to the Tower of London or Natural History Museum.I advise you to visit the Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park - you will see world-level ice skaters on an ice stage with The Imperial Ice Stars’ The Nutcracker on Ice, the Magical Ice Kingdom with icebergs, a lost island and ice sculptures, a dazzling showcase by Cirque Beserk and enjoy the magnificent panorama 60m above the city on the Giant Observation Wheel. There is also a Christmas market, Zippos Christmas Circus, The Sooty Christmas Show and magical Santa Land.Another great Winter festival will be held at Southbank Centre. Go to the popular Winter Market full of crafts, handmade goods and festive food, Charity Shop Emporium, warm up in the two-storey Swedish-style Rekorderlig’s Cider Lodge or in the Hoplocher Bar with beer, lager and ale. Enjoy marvelous circus performances in the NoFit State’ big tent – they present BIANCO, or listen to the rock ‘n’ roll musical Million Dollar Quartet. Young people will love the open-air ice skating rinks with DJs and club nights at BUMP Rollerdisco and a fairground ride on the 60m-high Starflyer. Here: https://meetngreetme.com/blog/wh... you will find prices for entrance tickets and opening days of the above mentioned and other festive events.

I'm going to London a week before Christmas (10 months from now). When should I book my hotel?

Hi Daniel,Where in London will you be staying? Most hotels will offer a 10% discount if you are able to prepay your stay as far as a month in advance. Its a good deal, but often cannot be cancelled. Booking in under a month runs the risk of the more affordable rooms already being reserved and hotels charging their highest rack rates, especially over the holidays. September or October would be your best bet for the advanced booking offers and getting the best availble rates. In the mean time, I'd suggest checking out TripExpert's ranking of hotels in London to get unbiased expert reviews on the top properties around the city. Once you have decided where you'd like to stay, you can book directly from your favorite hotel's page and have your trip reserved in no time.Hope you have a great trip! Emily

How cold is London, England in winter?

In England, there is a saying:“There's no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing.”Many people ask 'what will the weather be like in...?' the most accurate and honest response is that you will not know until that time comes. But some basics could help in considering when to travel to London. While London does have four seasons, light showers and cloudy skies are common throughout the year. Daily highs vary from 48°F (9°C) in the wintertime to 73°F (23°C) in the summertime, and weather conditions can vary quite a bit over the course of a day. Each season in London showcases the city differently.Long summer days show off a brighter side to London, while vibrant hues of orange, red and yellow make autumn irresistible. Come winter, the city’s streets and parks light up in a festive display that is a feast for the eyes.Autumn (October - December)Warm summer weather usually lasts through September before the temperatures begin to drop sharply in October. Expect highs ranging from 68°F (20°C) down to 53°F (12°C), with lows around 50°F (10°C). Autumn is usually London’s rainiest season, so be prepared for the wet weather!Winter (January - February)Even the word winter sounds chilly, but days in London aren't always cold and grey. There can be drizzle and showers but a little sunshine as well, just not a lot of it. And that lack of sun is what may make people think that London in winter is super cold, as the days are short, meaning less time for sightseeing as well as less sunlight. On Time and Date visitors will be able to check sunrise and sunset times throughout the year; it's a useful planning tool. There may be snow in London in winter, but snow in central London is not very common. Although the days will get longer from January, there is always the potential for clear, cold and windy days, maybe with a little bit of snow, through the end of February/early March. Temperatures in winter max out at 8°C during the day and 2°C at night.
