I Woke Up With A Horrible Pain/soreness In My Leg. Help

I woke up with terrible lower back pain, help?

It could be kidney stones. I had them, and my lower back hurt really bad. but i also felt really sick to my stomach. does it feel like muscle pain, or organs? you should go to the ER or call a doctor. especially if its stabbing or persistant pain. they might be able to help you over the phone. good luck.

Can vitex cause leg pains?! Please help :(?

From what I heard on here from women on vitex that they have not experience side effects from using this. You should get this check by your doctor cause if it's not a side effect from the vitex you could have restless leg syndrome or even worse low potassium which if it's to low it can cause you to have a massive heart attack. 5years ago I had low potassium and was hospitalized and I had bad pains like you describe plus I was running a fever over 104 and passing out when I stood up or walk the doctor told me that if I didn't come in when I did I would of had a massive heart attack during the night. So you really should make an appt to get check! Good Luck, hope everything turns out OK!http://health.yahoo.com/topic/sleep/over... http://www.emedicine.com/aaem/topic291.h...

Is it NORMAL to get these Horrible Leg cramps?

Ugh!!! I know how you feel I get them a lot when I haven't drank enough water. I'm a horrible water drinker rather grab a soda than water and get woke up in the middle of the night with my calf muscles cramping.
What I do is sit up in bed, cramped leg stretched out and pull foot back towards me to stretch it out with one hand and massage the muscle with the other until is relaxes. This always works for me.
Try drinking more water throughout the day if you think this is what's causing it.

Horrible leg cramps in the middle of the night?

A few things can cause cramping. If you are cramping in your calf muscles you need to stop, flex your foot towards you, hold for several seconds and release (do not point your toes, it'll make a cramp worse) while massaging the area of the cramp until it subsides. Cramps most likely happen because you are dehydrated and need extra fluid. Remember that if you are exercising, you should be drinking cold water before, during and after to keep from dehydrating those muscles. They need the fluid to work. Another reason is that your potassium level is off. If you are exercising hard, a good sports drink, like Gatorade, will help relieve the cramping because it will restore your electrolytes (sodium and potassium levels) to a normal state. If cramping persists, try adding foods like bananas, yogurt or oranges (orange juice works too) to increase your potassium consumption. Sometimes a vitamin deficiency can affect your muscles too. Taking a good multivitamin should also help.Hope that helps and your legs stop cramping soon.

Health question / bad leg pains?

I know this is probably the wrong place to ask about my health but I've been waking up with pretty bad leg pains for awhile. its always the same leg. I'm 15, and I run but I also have an eating disorder. It always wakes me up in my sleep, and it's been happening for about 1 month now. Yesterday, it hurt more than ever. I was laying down and the pains came again, before I knew it I couldn't think straight and I was squeezing a pillow as hard as I could whole crying. It's hard to te how long that lasted but it went back to the usual pain after maybe 10 minutes. I took ibuprofen (600mg) and it didn't do anything. My leg isnt swollen. It's hard to explain but its like throbbing, that jets up my leg and I can't move it. My leg feels hot, then cool. Are these growing pains? or perhaps related to my sport or diet?

32 weeks pregnant and terrible leg cramps!!! advice?!?

I was told when I was pregnant with my children it was a calcium deficiency. But I just looked it up on google and evidentally doctors don't think that is the cause anymore.

Here is what I found:

The reasons for increased leg cramps during pregnancy aren't clear. They may be caused by:

Changes in blood circulation during pregnancy
The stress on your leg muscles of carrying the extra weight of pregnancy
The pressure of the growing baby on the nerves and blood vessels that go to your legs

Here are some tips to prevent or relieve leg cramps:
Stretch. Stretching your legs (especially your calves) before going to bed can help reduce your chances of getting leg cramps. When you feel a cramp in your leg, straighten your leg—heel first—and wiggle your toes. Avoid pointing your toes when stretching or exercising.
Avoid standing or sitting in one position for long periods of time. Avoid sitting in a position that may restrict blood flow (such as sitting with your legs crossed for long periods of time).
Exercise. Regular exercise, such as a daily walk, can help prevent leg cramps. (Always be sure to find out from your health care provider what exercises are safe for you and how long you can maintain your exercise program.) If you're able to stand, walking for a few minutes when you have a leg cramp can help ease the pain and relax the muscle.
Drink plenty of fluids. Avoid getting dehydrated. Be sure to drink plenty of water during the day.
Massage your legs and apply heat. When you have a leg cramp, relax the muscle through gentle massage, or heat the muscle with a warm towel or hot water bottle. A warm bath before bedtime may also help to relax your muscles and prevent leg cramps.

I'm sorry that is so long. I hope it helps. I know how horrible those cramps can be!

On friday night my head was hurting horrible and my body was aching in pain i didnt kno what to do besides lay?

down so i layed in my bed and then i realized when i swallowed it was hurtingme really bad so i took some aleve and that didnt help so i just slept all of saturday not thinking i had strep throat but when i woke up at 330 i noticed my throat was bright red and there are white kanker soars i believe. so my mom went and got me cepacol soar throat like these things you suck on but that didnt help much either. so the next day which was sunday it hurt to talk so my mom got me the antibotics penacillion and it seemed to help but i can only take it 3 times a day so the pain is coming back. so i have to wait till 8 to take it again. well anyways besides the fact its my 18 birthday on tuesday do u think ill be better by then.??

Waking up with sudden pain in my leg. what is it?

It sounds like a muscle cramp, to me. I used to get them when I was younger but not so much anymore. It SUCKS to wake up to this, but like you said the pain rarely lasts very long. Sometimes these cramps are called charlie horses.

If you wake up with a cramp, manually stretch out the muscle. It sounds like it is in your calf. In this case, sit up so your leg is straight out in front of you, grab the top half of your foot with both hands, slowly pull your foot towards the rest of your body. This will stretch out the calf muscles and stop the cramp sooner than it will go away on its on.

There could be a number of things causing this. It could mean that you're growing, that your muscles have been worked heavily through exercise, that you are dehydrated, among other things.

Potassium and being well-hydrated seems to help prevent muscle cramping, though. Drink a tall glass of water about thirty minutes before going to bed and eat a banana (or other fruits high in potassium if you don't like these). This should reduce the frequency of muscle cramps. Taking a multivitamin every day may help as well because when potassium deficiency isn't the cause, it could be magnesium or calcium deficiency aggravating the situation.

Peace and best wishes!
