I Work At Kmart Are Supervisors And Security Allowed To Date

It says Walmart will cash a USPS money order. Do you know if they do?

A money order works like a check. Anyplace that will cash a check will typically cash a money order.Walmart and other retail stores will typically only cash a check if it’s a printed payroll check or government-issued check. The big deal is that the name of who the check is to is machine printed on the check, not written in by hand. If it looks like “Pay to the order of MARK JOHNSTON” (all printed on the same printer), you’re good. If it looks like “Pay to the order of Mark Johnston” (name written by hand) it’s not.If you go to the post office and buy a money order and they put in the computer who it’s to and the recipient’s name is printed on the money order along with the amount, and it’s an exact match with the name on the photo ID, Walmart is good to go. If you buy a money order at the post office, and they print the amount but leave the name field blank for you to fill in, Walmart will say, “No, sorry, you’ll need to take that to a bank.”*This answer is not an official statement of Walmart policy; things may have changed since I worked there.

What do you wish you could tell a customer but can’t because you’d most likely be fired?

(( Yes I’m writing anonymously. Sue me.))RetailI know my light isn’t on when I jump on a register to help get the lines down - I am one of the supervisors and I have other things to do. The customers do come first, but I keep my light off to make sure I can escape when given the chance.I do not make the rules. If I say no please do not act like a three year old who has to go from mommy to daddy because one of them said ‘no’ and you didn’t like the answer. You work third shift and can’t come in during ‘normal business hours’? And you’re literally telling a third shift worker that right now? You seriously don’t have days off? You can’t come in when they open? You don’t have friends or family that can provide this task for you?No I do not need job security. Please take your shopping cart with you when you leave even if it’s empty and put it back!!! It is in the way when you leave it at the register.Thank you for asking me if I am open/able to take you when my light is off. Thank you. Honestly, thank you.Patience is a virtue. We know the lines are long when the lines are long and are doing our best to get you out. Be patient, your time will come.We don’t care if you ‘spend thousands of dollars every week’ or ‘I’m never coming back!’Yes we know people hate the store. We get it. We hear it all the time.I am more likely to want to bend the rules to help you if you are nice. If you are rude to me, my coworker or my cashiers I will not help you anymore than the very minimum necessary.Yes we work holidays. It’s retail.Yes we hate black Friday. Yes it’s a shame we have to work Thanksgiving/ early Friday morning afterwards ( as we ring up the product you came in on black Friday to buy at that discounted price).

2 interviews in one day?

When you go to Kmart, tell them how excited you are for this opportunity, as you really appreciate their contribution to the neighborhood - and have always hoped for a chance to work for them. Find out what areas they are interested in hiring people for, and sell yourself for each area. Emphasize that you live close by, so could be available to take not only your own shift, but also cover for others, if someone should call in sick, be on vacation, as you live nearby. Tell them you are flexible, and willing to work in any department, and that you have people skills - meaning you are polite, respectful, kind; you ask questions when you need to, but can follow directions & work independently as well. Let them know that you are a team player. Kmart may not tell you right away, but that's ok, go to Lowe's anyway. You will know from Kmart if you're hired, before any start date should occur with Lowes. Be sure that both places know that you are reliable, dedicated, and punctual. Take a list of references with you, and all of your former employees/volunteer supervisors, etc. names & complete addresses & phone numbers so that you can provide it to them if needed. That will show you are prepared and mean business. Good luck!

What would you wear to a job orientation, or training?

Question: What would you wear to a job orientation, or training?Actually, the only person that can really answer this would be your recruiter. Ask to find out what expected dress code is for orientation. In many of my jobs, had I shown up in a suit to orientation I would have been way over dressed. Business casual was actually a bit too formal as well. The corporate culture will determine the expected attire as well the global location.Finance, banking, and consulting are typically semi formal or business attire here in the US. East Coast US vs. West Coast US will also mean that the dress code definition will be different. EC business casual is VERY different than what you would find in LA or San Francisco.   So, to sum up: ask your recruiter or new manager what the expected attire will be for orientation. This is a completely appropriate question and is likely well received.

What was the most smartass thing you have done/seen someone do?

In 9th grade I LOATHED my school with a burning passion. It was completely dysfunctional AND abusive. This was a large yeshiva-highschool (half-day religious studies, half high school). As is typical, it had a huge study hall. When studying the Talmud, in pairs you usually do it standing up. As you need something to put your heavy books on, there's this piece of furniture called a Shtender (see photo). Now ours were made of solid wood, not metal, so figure about 5 Kg (11 lbs.) each… The study hall had really wide isles…So one day I had this Really Crazy Idea. A friend and I went there while it was empty. We arranged all 300 of the Shtenders like dominoes, twice around the hall. Before we set them off, we tied the glass door shut with some nylon rope we found. We knocked the first one down, and ran like hell, climbed out the second floor window, and quietly walked away. The “thunder” had half the school come running from everywhere. Of course the uproar was really something, but no one had a clue who had done it. The next day, seriously not giving a damn, I bragged about it to my class. For once no one snitched on me, probably out of awe.Of course a “minor side effect” that we hadn't thought of (not that it would likely have stopped me), was the poor Head of the Yeshiva (seminary). His office was directly under the study hall. We nearly gave the poor rabbi a heart attack. It would have been his 5th.The next year I forced my parents to transfer me to a much better school.
