I Work For An Agency And When They Give Me A Shift Their Client Makes Me Work Up To 15 Hours

Can CVS Pharmacy legally make you work an 8 hour shift without giving you a 30 min lunch or two 15 min breaks?

Wow, that's really sad they don't give you a lunch. :(

Legal? Do they pay you for 8 hours and you are there for 8 hours? If so, then I would say they could get away with it. As they said they are not union (so you are not paying any dues), and you have no one to fight for your ability to have lunch time. Most lunches are unpaid. If you are there for 8 hours and they pay you for 8 then you really can't do much. Was this outlined before you accepted the job? Look at your paperwork.

So, legal - yes, but safetywise, not really. If you work with no breaks and no lunch, this could cause you to make poor decisions that affect your ability to do your job well. Which could be dangerous to their customers. I would take a look at the paperwork you signed when you accepted the position. If it says you have a 30 minute lunch point it out to whomever said you couldn't take one. If it doesn't say anything about breaks and you are only there for the same number of hours you are paid, then I'd say they are going to be able to request that you nibble your lunch between helping customers without actually giving you a full break.

As far as the breaks go...They don't have to give the breaks if you are able to leave to use the restroom when ever you have an free moment to do so. The breaks are more in an environment where you absolutely cannot leave to get a drink or go to the restroom or otherwise stretch (like an operator position, where you cannot leave your post or you will miss the phone or an assembly line where your lack of being at your post will affect others, or similar activities.)

Boo, to CVS in Michigan if this is how they treat their pharmacy technicians (just wondering what does a technician do anyway? Do they fill the prescriptions?)

How many breaks should an employee get in an 8 hour shift?

#1. Request an employee that how many break he needs and ask#2. Based on this - request him when he or she wants to take a break#3. Take care of employees first then the business will grow.Apart from all this - if you need then keep the employees only at the required hours and don’t just create 8 hours stuff when it is not required. Why 8 hours? We no need 8 hrs when it is not required. This 8 hours started at India when people were not productive ,lots of people need a job for the sake of job and it got started when we dont have machines and 9 to 5 was the only time that we can work. After 150 years still 8 hour rule is applicable which is a waste of humanity.

Why do people want to work night shift?

I worked 4-12 p.m. shift and loved it because:

All of the backstabbers/gossipers/obnoxious women were home with their families and I didn't have to deal with them.

The office was quieter and during dinner break I'd study.

No supervisor. We still did our work (word processing center), and there were never any problems, no bad atittudes, no backstabbing. We even helped each other out if one person had a huge document to type/revise. I worked with 2 guys.

Phones hardly rang.

It allowed me to attend day school, and make appointments without taking the night off.

Nigh shift differential.

City agency. They abolished the night shift, and not long after I started working for the state.

How much does a caregiver get paid per hour?

Caregivers don't make nearly enough. You have 3 different types of pay scales for Caregivers today. First, there is Priviate Pay, which is usually around $10.00 per hour, these are found through newspapers, word of mouth, and Registers or agency's who offer lists to Clients of Reciepents names and phone numbers for them to call and interview themselves. Second there is County and State funded programs, these pay only $7.50 per hour and are to go to $8.00 per hour on January 1st. Some examples of these programs are, In Home Supportive Services, State of California Department of Health Services, Public Authority, and the list goes on. These programs work with the Social Services programs and offer no benefits, raises, vacation, time and a half, etc. Lastly, there is the Union, fairly new to this business. They range from $8.15 per hour to $11.45 per hour and have very limited benefits. They are just starting to come into their own now and I believe will become stronger with time. Caregiving is a job that requires true "Compassion" to be able to do for any length of time for it is truly a "Thankless Job". It will be coming into it's own soon due to the fact that the "Baby Boomers" have just started retirement age. As the ole saying goes, "Who will take care of us", is going to hit home hard and fast shortly and in doing so this field will grow. Myself having been a Caregiver for over 15 years hopes this helps answer your questions along with a few starting places. Druski337

What are some of the worst companies to work for in India? Explain.

I am sorry to say but all companies are worst to work for in India. Exception could be Microsoft, Linkedin(now MS), expedia, Cisco, Facebook, big 4 companies and other top rated MNCs.Its better to start your own business than working like a cog in giant company. where nobody knows you from joining to retirement except the close people you worked with.Employees can’t become rich.Employers will only become rich.Labor laws is the most violated law in India. Employers will check your background whether you have been convicted in a crime in the past or not like they are Harish chandra. But, employers are the one who doesn’t care about Law, a labor law.In India, Employee bond, agreement, contract or any bondage is not valid by court but all employers do it, blatantly, openly. As per law if employer doesn’t pay your salary on time, you may drag them to court but neither nobody does nor any competitive court will take it seriously. So it is full of Hassle. Full of quibble.Being an employee, if you generate 100 Rs as a profit to company, employer will give you 8–12 rs as a salary. Notice the difference. This is the difference that makes the employer RICH.The top companies who doesn’t care about employees are:-1- TCS2- Wipro3- HCL4- Infosys5- Convergys6- IBM7- Accenture8-AricentThat may sound BS but its true. The worst of worst company is RECRUITING, OUTSOURCING, HUMAN RESOUCRCE CONSULTING FIRM or any placement agency that hires you as a third party person. example;Company X will hire you, pay you salary and provide you offer letter and relieving/experience letter.Company X will ask you to work for Company Z. Company Z will give you work on day to day basis. You will have to report to Company Z for everything except related to salary increment and promotion.Company Z will not give you and can’t give you salary hike or promotion.Company X will cut off communication with you regarding salary hike or promotion. Your life will stuck and will be on stake.

What is a good excuse for a no call no show to work?

I had a young 18 year old apprentice who did not show up in the morning. He had to get into work half an hour before the others to get the lights on, the tea room cleaned and most importantly the tea brewed. To be late was unlike him as he was usually very reliable. I tried his mobile phone and that just went to voicemail so I thought that I would wait until 9am and then call his parents to see what happened. At 8.30 he phoned me giggling like a schoolgirl and told me why he would not be in till lunchtime. He had stayed the night at his new girlfriend's home and had got up at 6.00 am to come to work, but on his way out of the house the girlfriend's mum was waiting for him. She told him to come back after his girfriend had gone to college and she would show him what a real woman was like. He had been in the cafe nearby for the past two hours pondering whether he should or not. While waiting he had seen his girlfriend walk to the bus stop and then her previous boyfriend pulled up in his car and picked her up. He was now on his way round to revenge shag the mum. I gave him the whole day off with pay.

Anyone Work at a Walmart Distribution Center? Is it worth it? hows the pay and benefits?

I work at a Wal-Mart DC in Ohio, I've been there for a little over a year now and im making almost 18 an hour. Depending on the location of the DC and the going wages around the surrounding areas determines the starting pay. When I started a year ago the base pay was 13.45 and the base pay has gone up about 40 cents. I don't use their benefits but my friends who do don't really care for them that much, they rave about their dental plan though its somewhere around 3 doallars a paycheck for a single person. The work is physically demanding especially if you are an orderfiller. You can work weekdays working 4 10's or work weekends working 3 11's with pay differentials you make an extra dollar and some change on the 1st shift weekend and an additional 35 cents for weekend second. So if you don't mind working hard for your money then a Wal Mart distribution center is for you
