Ibuprofen 600 Mg And Alcohol

Ibuprofen 600 mg and alcohol?

"Do not drink alcohol if you’re taking some types of painkillers (analgesics), such as:
1. Strong painkillers
2. Prescription-only painkillers
It may be safe to drink alcohol with some painkillers that can be bought over the counter (OTC), as long as you:
1. Check the patient information leaflet that comes with the medicine
2. Take the correct dose of your medicine
3. Do not drink more than the recommended daily limits of alcohol

Aspirin and ibuprofen are available OTC without a prescription. Drinking a small amount of alcohol while taking aspirin or ibuprofen is usually safe as long as you follow the advice above.
Taking more than the recommended dose of aspirin or ibuprofen increases the risk of irritation to your stomach lining. This risk is increased further if you drink more than the recommended daily limits and may lead to bleeding from the stomach.
If you have liver or kidney problems, do not take aspirin or ibuprofen unless your GP tells you it is safe to do so. Children under 16 should not take aspirin".

In summary, if you did not drink too much, nor took too much ibuprofen, then you should be fine. There certainly is a risk but it is quoted as being "usually safe".
Once you head over the recommended amounts of alcohol which will depend on your body, the 'daily limit' and the amount of drug you took (sounds like you took the recommended amount though) then the risk starts to jump in terms of issues as with stomach bleeding.

If you start to experience any abnormal symptoms get to a doctor.

Ibuprofen and alcohol?

The only thing the Ibuprofen could affect is a peptic ulcer, causing one or making one worse alone or worse when ingested with booze. The fact that you were "really" wasted was the fact that you drank on a nearly empty stomach. With nothing to slow the alcohol down it enters your blood system at a much faster pace thus increasing your blood alcohol level compared to drinking with food in your stomach which will slow it down. Put simply;drink on empty get drunk fast and probably tossing chunks on top of it. Drink after eating will slow down the onset of the big drunk.

Ibuprofen with alcohol?

You'll be fine. It doesn't sound like you took more than the recommended dosage of the Ibuprofen or OD'd on alcohol. They don't recommend ibuprofen with alcohol because it can irritate the liver. Consistent use of ibuprofen with alcohol can cause liver damage.

How long after drinking alcohol can I take ibuprofen?

Ooh yes, that depends on the concentration and amount of alcohol you imbedded. For example, let assume you drunk a liter (1000ml) of 5%( w/v) alcohol. Lord behold. Which translates to 5000mg/dL. So a liter contains 50000mg of alcohol weight. We know that the half-life of elimination of alcohol is approximately 15–20mg/DL/hr. Let use 20mg/DL/hr, which for a liter of alcohol your body eliminates 200mg/hr, everything else being constant. If you were to wait for your body to clear alcohol completely before you can take your ibuprofen dose. It would take forever. For persons with normal Liver, kidney and lungs, can take alcohol along with their normal dose of ibuprofen and just feel great. Sometimes, Ibuprofen is dosed as needed for breakthrough pain, therefore, waiting for alcohol to clear may not be practically possible. However, for prescription medications always follow your doctors advice, because, they know your medical profile very well.JM.

Would 4400 mg ibuprofen and 900mg fluoxetine taken with alcohol be lethal?

That sounds like a lot of ibuprofen, I'd say that with alcohol would probably be lethal.

Fluoxetine is an anti-depressant - it will not kill you if you overdose.

Also - if this is something you're thinking of attempting, which I doubt as most suicide attempts aren't double checked for efficiency on the net first...you should probably know that before you even get half way through, the act of forcing so many tablets down you will probably make you vomit.

Is it safe to drink alcohol after taking ibuprofen?

Yes. They have different metabolic pathways and it is not dangerous to take together. You should however refrain from handleling machinery or any fragile stuff.Paracetamol is bad to mix with alcohol, as they are metabolized by the same enzymes in the liver, making the toxicity harder to control.

How long after taking ibuprofen 600 can you drink alcohol?

Since both ibuprofen and alcohol are associated with higher GI bleed rates, I suggest you talk to your doctor about how you go about handling whatever events you have in life.I agree that single events do not usually cause a problem. But if you have pain, I wouldn’t want to dull it with alcohol as that invites the possibility of aggravating the source of the pain, particularly muscles.

Is it bad to drink alcohol (a beer) and take 2 ibuprofen with water?

As previously stated Acetaminophen is much more dangerous when taken with alcohol because both are eventually cleared by the liver and when both are introduced at the same time the liver may not be able to handle it. Ibuprofen (or any other NSAID like aspirin) can knock out the protection to the stomach lining. Alcohol is known to damage the stomach lining. Long term use of combining alcohol (damaging) and NSAIDs (preventing repair) can lead to stomach ulcers, gastritis (inflammation of the stomach), and gastrointestinal bleeding. It is important to note however that taking Aspirin the next day after drinking to help with your hangover is more or less alright. The main risk of all the things above is when you take NSAIDS (Aspirin/Ibuprofen) at the same time as you are drinking not when taking them the day after once the alcohol has cleared your system and you are left with just a terrible headache etc. Also don't forget to replenish yourself with fluids like water/gatorade/soups etc.
