If A Girl Got Hit By A Car Could She Just Have Broken Ribs

Boyfriend broke my nose?

ive been in a realtionship with him for 3 years.i'm 16 & hes 17.
last saturday he hit me and broke my nose.i had to go to the hospital and get surgery.
nobody knows he did it.
and i've forgiven him.

we go into a fight, and he got mad and just went off.
should i forgive & forget.
if you've ever been in love you know i cant just let him go.i love him way too much.
hes never been physical before.
i dont know,what should i do?

Are my ribs broken?? HELP?

Lastnight i was at bonfire night and me and 2 friends went on the fair ride 'twister'. The biggest person was supposed to sit on the edge seat but she didnt, I did (one of the smallest). As we were spinning around and my 2 friends were leaning my way i could literally feel my ribs being pushed together as i was being squashed.

When we got off my ribs were aching and later on my tummy started to ache too.

Its now the morning after..
I woke up and when i sat up my left rib at the top (just under my breast) started to hurt, so i had to lay back down and try again.
I also get a sudden jolt of pain when i bend down, stand up, sit down, twist etc.

Are my ribs broken? Or is this just a side effect of being squashed by 2 girls?!

Should I Still Dance With Broken Ribs?

I broke my ribs a few weeks ago because of a really hard fall (I was supposed to pass out for a health skit, but a girl in my group wanted to run it six times full out immediately before actually performing it for our class. I hit the ground too hard the seventh consecutive time and, with the added impact from the six time prior which all happened in a course of about ten minutes, I broke my ribs.) I haven't been to see a doctor because we just changed our insurance plan and I don't have a physician yet, but I know all the signs of broken ribs and I know they're broken.
The problem, however, is that I'm a ballet dancer. Ballet is literally the only good thing in my life right now. I've lost all of my friends, I have to quit choir to take basic design, and no one in my family trusts me. Dance is ALL I have. We've mostly been working on our student choreography pieces these past few weeks, so our group leader isn't pushing my limits. But I told him that my ribs were just sore. If he knew they were broken, he'd have to re-choreograph our piece and, seeing as we're auditioning for the show in a few weeks, he'd more than likely have to cut me out of the piece. I understand that he would have to do that, but, like I said, dance is all I have. I'd be cut out of the class piece too. We've been on spring break this week and go back to school Monday, so I've been resting and trying not to move around too much. However, about twenty minutes ago, my laptop flipped over from my lap and landed directly on my ribs. I'm still trying to get my breathing regulated. I'm drinking water, laying flat to help lung flow and I filled up a plastic baggie with ice cubes because I couldn't find the ice pack. We're out of pain killers though; my mom took the last of them this afternoon, so I'm still in a tremendous amount of pain. I can feel my ribs shifting with every breath I take, and not in a normal way. It hasn't been this bad since I first broke them. We go back to school in four days. If I did anything to make my ribs worse, there's no way I'll be able to dance; probably not for the rest of the school year.
Long story short, should I just play through the pain? I can't give up the last good thing in my life. I can't.
And for the record, it's four in the morning, I can't talk to my parents right now and my sister doesn't have a license to drive me to the emergency room if need be.

I think my puppy has a broken rib. What can I do?

Take her to the vet ASAP. There's no knowing what could be going on internally. The limping may go away but a bump is something to worry about.

If you're here asking what to do you certainly care, so take her to a vet because she sould have a life-threatening injury.

Best of luck.

What kind of injuries occur in a car accident;project?

Our 10yr old son & i were in an accident nearly a year ago. We were at a dead stop & rear-ended by someone doing 55mph. Our son ended up with a concussion & a cardiac contusion. I have 3 ruptured discs in my neck (C4-C7) The driver of the car that hit us was not injured.

What does it feel like to be in a high-speed car crash? Did you hit a car, or were you hit by another car? Did you drive into a stationary object?

I was driving back from college for Thanksgiving break when I was involved in my serious wreck. It had rained the night before but the roads were not really wet anymore. I was on a highway and as I started to switch lanes I hydroplaned due to a small space between the concrete of the lanes (idk how it was big enough to even make me hydroplane). So one second I was going 75 MPH and the next thing I know I am sideways on the road. I look out my driver-side window and see that I am headed straight for a telephone pole. I quickly thought “Okay, this can only end two ways: (1) I will die from this impact or (2) I will be paralyzed from it.” I took a deep breath and said something that my friends and I would say in high school when trouble was a major possible outcome. So I outloud and calmly said “well I hope this works out.” Luckily my tires were on the shoulder, which was grass, and it was wet enough to allow my car to slide down enough to where I missed the pole by inches. Right after watching my car barely clear the pole I let out some air as relaxation then all of the sudden…my car flipped 4 times and slammed into a concrete drainage ditch. I remember seeing everything too. From the windshield braking, dirt flying around, to all my stuff getting tossed about. Upon impact I got out of the car feeling just fine and with only a surface scrape smaller than the size of a dime on a knuckle. The police and emergency crews were telling me I needed to sit down since I had to have broken something and was just in shock so I could not feel it. However, I didn’t get hurt at all (outside of the surface scrap). They said that the fact that I was so calm and chill during it saved my life as they had never seen anyone walk away much less uninjured from a wreck like that in the 25+ years they had been doing their jobs.

How long should it take cracked ribs to heal?  Should people be concerned if pain persists after one year?

The "normal" healing time for rib fractures/cracks is usually stated at a minimum of 6 weeks to a maximum of 6 months. Much depends on the general health of the person and specifically of their bones. Is it possible this person has osteoporosis or osteopenia? Has she had any therapeutic or excessive diagnostic radiation to the chest area? (I have three persistently cracked ribs from their being "bar-b-qued" by breast cancer radiation 5 years ago.) A fracture that doesn't heal in a "normal" length of time is considered a "nonunion" and, if the pain is severe enough to interfere with daily living (or sleeping), surgical repair might be indicated. If the pain is minor -- only occurs on pressure to the area or when sneezing/coughing, for instance -- surgery might be a more aggressive solution than is warranted. The risk in not repairing persistently cracked ribs is that they remain unstable and are perhaps susceptible to further, more complicated breaks that can injure lungs or spleen or cause more dangerous complications. I'd definitely recommend that she have it checked out.

What would happen if you jumped out of a car going 55 MPH?

Heh. I actually did this. Oh my, what a story. Without the incriminating details, I jumped out of the back of a moving pickup truck going about 60. Seemed like a good idea at the time. I actually got hurt very little, some scrapes and bruises, and yes, tuck and roll. There was no other traffic around to run me over. I did, however, tear every tendon and ligament in my left ankle and spent a couple months on crutches/splint/cast and all that. Hurt off and on for years. My left ankle is still kinda weird looking, 30 years later. All works fine tho.I also, a few years later went over the handlebars of a bike going about 30. I landed on the left side of my chest, mostly. Terrible road rash on my face and chest, and a broken rib. THAT was a trip. I remember I had enough time for my brain to go "oh fuck" and that was it. Thank god was right outside of apartments where a nurse lived, and she talked me down from being in shock. I don't really remember hitting the ground, or staggering over to the curb, I do, but very hazily. I'm sure that the shock part.I guess I should count myself luckily in both cases that worse didn't happen. I was lot more flexible in my early twenties tho, and had, of course, pre-medicated myself.

Has anyone survived after being hit by a car? Were you conscious? Did you feel the pain?

Five years ago, I was crossing the street to school, I had the light, and I was running my bike across because the slope was uphill. I Get to the middle of the street, and I look to my left. Time slows, and I see a car going through the red light, aiming just for me. The lady, who I can see through the wind shield, is doing her makeup in the mirror. Someone up ahead of me honks, she looks up, and hits the brakes. Her car trashes my bike and leaves me with a terrible bruise on my side and some scrapes that were bleeding from hitting the road. She went in reverse, went around me, and sped away. I peeled myself off the pavement, and walked the rest of the way to school, dragging my screwed up bike with me. I leave it out front, and continue to go through school as if nothing happened, aside from uncomfortably shifting because the scrapes and huge bruise on my side are anoying. In short, I survived. I had a bruise for a month, but I turned out fine, and it's all because some dude honked his horn and the lady noticed and looked up. If he hadn't, it could have been so much worse. Funny thing is, about five years before that, my sister got hit crossing that same road, same grade as me, going to school. She's just fine today, still living in that city, not far from that school.
