If A Person Is Planning On Going To College Out Of State And Their Parents Wont Help Pay Or Consign

No credit/ no consign student loans?

You chances are just about nil. The student loan market is very tight these days--I read an article recently stating that last year 95% of all student loans last year required a co-signer. The 5% who qualified were most likely older students with a solid credit history and the income to justify the loan. Since you can't offer either of those things, it is very unlikely that you would qualify. There are probably loan sharks out there that would give you a personal loan, but the terms would be ruinous. Companies like that are not anybody that you should be doing business with.

Have you done the FAFSA yet? If you are a first year, full time dependent student, you should qualify for $5,500 in student loans without a credit check. Your parents would also be able to apply for a PLUS loan up to the cost of attendance at your school. PLUS loans are credit based, but the standards for them are much looser than they are for private loans so many parents are pleasantly surprised that they are accepted even though they were turned down elsewhere. If they don't qualify for the entire amount, they can adjust the amount they apply for and may find that they will qualify for a lower amount. If they don't qualify at all, then you would be able to borrow $9,500. It's also possible that you would qualify for some grant aid.

If your parents won't, or can't, take a PLUS loan, then if I were you I would think about looking for a less expensive college. A nursing degree can be earned at most public colleges for much less than $48,000 per year. If the school you are considering is a for-profit school then I would really think twice about it. Most of these schools cost much more than comparable programs at non-profit and public schools, and they offer much less in financial aid. By shopping around, you might be able to find a college that costs less and offers you more grant aid to help with your expenses. This would lower your need to borrow and you might be able to afford it more easily.

What style is Raymond Carver Cathedral writen in and what are the main themes?

Raymond Carver (1939-1988), American writer, best known for his highly readable, intensely absorbing short stories. Carver’s background and the difficulties of his adult life provided much of the material for his writing, which frequently focuses on lost dreams, failed relationships, and disillusionment. He is recognized as one of the foremost short-story writers in the English language and is credited with reviving popular interest in the form in the 1980s.

Carver was born in Clatskanie, Oregon, to working-class parents. He began writing in 1958 after studying creative writing at Chico State College in California. He eventually earned a B.A. degree in 1963 from Humboldt State College. Before the publication of his first collection of short stories, Put Yourself in My Shoes (1974), Carver wrote two volumes of poetry, Near Klamath (1968) and Winter Insomnia (1970).

In the late 1960s and the 1970s, Carver was repeatedly hospitalized as a result of alcoholism. By drawing on these experiences for his writing, he achieved much of his early success, and many of the characters in his stories deal with difficulties related to drinking. When developing his stories, Carver often reworked them several times—for instance, the story “The Bath” eventually became the award-winning “A Small, Good Thing,” although Carver himself thought of them as two very different stories.

Will You Please Be Quiet, Please? (1976) was Carver’s first commercially successful short-story collection. His other major collections are What We Talk About When We Talk About Love (1981), Cathedral (1983), and Where I’m Calling From (1988). Elements of hope and redemption are incorporated into the stories in Cathedral, marking a notable transition in Carver’s work. Carver’s last work, the volume of poetry A New Path to the Waterfall, was published posthumously in 1989. Some of his prose is collected in Fires (1983). All of Us: The Collected Poems was published in 1998.

Should I tell my parents I'm moving out or leave a note?

I'm a 19 year old college nursing major
I have the money to move out but parents don't know that.
They emphasize how I am just a little girl & not ready.
I want to tell them I'm leaving, I love them and I'm moving only 5 minutes away.
They deserve an explanation but I know they WILL do EVERYTHING possible to stop me.
They will be heartbroken but they don't let me be my own person.

Ive been a cam girl for a month. In a month i saved $1000 working about 8 hours a week. I've been planning on moving since I was 16, figured my budget. Might tell my parents I'm bartending but they won't even like that.

FOR THOSE WHO WANNA PUT THEIR MORALS ON ME:
Let me save your breath- "get a real honest job/ you're going to regret it/ only trash do that/ future employers will see you/what will you put on your resume/wh0re/gateway to prositution/arent you ashamed/what will others think of you"

A waitress at a diner would make in one 8 hr shift what I could make in 3 hrs. If i were a waitress...working too much to pay bills->not enough time to study -> the money used to pay the class was for NOTHING.

It can be done but I'm not gonna make it harder for myself to please the morals of some yahoo answers people.

I also like working when I want and no mean managers.
Men jacking off to me doesn't interfere with my studying so it doesn't bother me. I'm also applying as a part time clerk in a hospital just to have it on my resume.

PLEASE answer my actual question, don't leave a lecture.

Why does my dad/parents favorite my little brother?

My dad is really my stepdad but has raised me since I was young, I have no relationship with my biodad. He clearly favorites my little brother (his real son) and it makes me mad. My 10 year old brother has 9 pairs of football cleats and a bunch of other really expensive football equipment. I have been running in the same pair of track spikes since my sophomore year. We're both really good athletes and he's probably come to less than 10 of my events. I'm a state champion in two different sports and he's never been to my state meets, like I'll get a "Congratulations, I'm proud" but he buys my brother stuff for small accomplishments.
I need my parents to consign a really important loan for college and my mom can't do it cause she has bad credit, my dad can and he literally just refuses to he said to me "I guess you're going to community college then".
I get stuff, but it's like I have to beg for stuff and they complain about it, but if he asks once he'll get it. And when I call them out on it they tell me that they spoiled me when I was little too, but I came from another country where I lived with my two older cousins and lived with my parents for 3 years until my brother came along. They abuse me (I wish I was being dramatic, but like I've been put in the hospital before) but my brother is spoiled and rude and my mom wont do anything to him and if my dad yells at him she jumps in and tells my dad to stop and hugs him and kisses him and no one does that for me. What do I do?

There is no way out. Student loans can only be escaped via payments or death. My school false advertised the length of my degree program, putting me 40k more in debt than I originally planned (the degree was 180 credit hours while a typical 4 year degree is 120, a full 50% longer). Right now, I'm 1300 in the hole on my total expenses every month working in my field. I'm a slave. Every day I work just to get more poor. If I died tomorrow my cosigners would get fucked. I was told growing up that not going to college meant failure at life, and the economy reflected that reality, I was told jobs in my field were plentiful and well paid. They even had statistics to back it up.Not only that but I'm really good at what I do. It always came to me fast and easier than my classmates and I could do better than them on tests and projects in a much shorter amount of time. Every day I go to work and I can solve problems that my supposed betters struggle with. I was born to be in this field, it was my dream since I was 6 years old and never once was I given reason to believe I wasn't on the right path.I couldn't work during college because I was taking 15-21 credit hours every semester and spent at least 60-70 hours on schoolwork and studying, especially with honors courses which took up even more time in reading and writing. This is a gigantic scam designed to enslave those who aren't wealthy and think they have some kind of right to try to be socially mobile and climb that ladder. It is a punishment to remind us how small and pathetic we are because we weren't born as lucky as the rich. It is indentured servitude to keep smart workers from going out on their own and competing against the companies that abuse them. I live in the slums with no luxury, I don't have any nice things, I can't afford to better myself or my life because I'm so deep in the hole. If you want to know who is at fault it is the Colleges who false advertised, the media that lied about the number of jobs and how well they pay, and the conservatives who keep cutting college funding and demonizing the poor. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't want to jump off a bridge. And if I could afford life insurance enough to make sure my family was covered if I did so, I would. Being a slave is hell.

What is the average amount of money that an average college student might have in his bank account?

Why do Asian immigrants get better jobs than Hispanic immigrants?

Well not all Asian immigrants have great jobs. The reason so many Hispanics have these jobs is because they are unskilled and have no real education, or they are illegal immigrants and can not get a better job. Many of the Asians that are here are here legally not all of them there are some that are here illegally. They also as a rule have education meaning they at least have a high school degree most have college or advanced degrees. That is why you see so few Asians cutting grass and so on, and see so many poor Hispanics that are the ones having to do it. I hope this helped answer your question. Oh and I have seen several Hispanics that had very good paying jobs, just wanted to throw that in.

We have to agree on one simple fact… Such things never happen “ Suddenly”. Matters of this nature brew slowly. Child finishes High School, with much deliberations, eventually a college is decided upon. You are a bit sad, leaving your child in a dorm, yet proud to see, the first member of the family, gaining college credits. Some where there in the first year, your child discovers for the first time, brilliance of other students. Stress starts to increase in intensity. Relax, says one friend. Here take a puff, it will help you relax. It sure does. Soon begins the late night parties. Beer starts to flow in among other equally exotic stuff. Your class is at 8am, and you are barely waking up at 2 in the afternoon. But stress you felt is gone for some time. people however notice a change. Grades get worse, self care not important, doesn’t shave for days, stays in bed, not wanting to do anything, stops interacting with peers. You get the idea. Its not sudden, only you noticed it late. Most of the times, Its Mood Disorder, that drove the kid to isolation, not wanting to interact with any one, Alcohol mixed with some other drug become a daily routine. What would I do ? I will drive to his place, insist on a visit to doctors office, have him admitted to a hospital, insist on getting full and detailed Psychiatric and Addiction Medicine evaluation. I will not be surprised, when I am told, my Child suffering from Major Mood Disorder, Chemical Dependency, among various other co-morbidities.If you see changes in your child's personality, be aware, be available, be gentle and so very politely, ask your child a favor, of a visit to Doctors office. Don’t accept his No. You are a parent, you know, how your child’s emotions work. If you get angry, which you will, ask for forgiveness. But you are determined to have your child examined. You might save him, from himselfThat Sir is how I will begin my journey with my child. For both of us ….
