If Anyone Out There Is Considering Buying A New Computer

What should I buy a new phone or computer?

See, the answer to this question depends on your age, usage and especially the things you are doingIf you are a student then you must have a smartphone because it helps you the most by getting you connected by each and every thing but as mentioned earlier, as per your usage and need, it might be that you need a laptop. And if you are doing a technical course, like me then you need the both, as money is always the problem only one thing can be purchsed, I would recommend you to buy a smartphone, but soon you need to buy a laptop too, start saving from now onwards.Hope your question is answeredRegards

I am considering buying a new desktop computer solely for computer programming what would be the "best" setup for my computer?

Definitely at least two monitors as large as you can afford and that will fit in your workspace. If budget is an issue I would skip SSD storage and get traditional hard drives. SSDs are faster but there’s virtually no chance of data recovery if it fails. Traditional hard drives can be a better solution in many ways.A large UPS to keep power outages from ruining your day. APC brand is best. Get a bigger unit than you think you’ll need because you’ll want to connect your internet modem and networking gear to it as well. But do not connect a laser printer to a UPS ever. Inkjet is okay.Get a large capacity external hard drive as a data backup and get good software for it that will make a fully restorable image so if your computer’s hard drives get fried you can replace them and restore from backup. In addition to the external hard drive also get an online backup solution such as Crashplan or Mozy. You don’t have to back up the entire computer to the cloud but definitely your development and data folders.Get a really good chair. Something very comfortable and ergonomic. Wheels are a must. If you can swing it get a Herman Miller brand chair. Look for used office furniture businesses in your area and save some money but get a good chair! An acrylic floor mat would be good too.Put your computer desk near a window so you can see outside. Makes a lot of difference.

Should I consider buying new laptop or used laptop?

In terms of laptops, if you’re looking for something high end or something to put through its paces, stick with new or professionally refurbished. If you’re buying a laptop to type papers, browse the web, and simple things like that, used is an option, but you still want to tread lightly.Remember that replacing parts in a laptop is not something that’s regularly done. In fact, most would discourage you from doing so. It’s one thing to replace a hard drive, add RAM, or swap out a battery, but beyond that, you don’t want to do much else with a laptop. I often tell potential laptop consumers, what you get out the box is mostly what you’re stuck with. Upgrading a processor or installing a more up to date or higher end GPU is not something you’d do with a laptop.Factory refurbished is the only refurbished laptop I’d ever begin to recommend investing in. Stick to something new where possible, especially if you’re trying to save a buck. Also look into the scratch & dent as well as returns options such as that from Dell and Apple. I saved about 15% off retail purchased a customized computer was was returned to Dell. New laptop with less than 30-days of use, with manufacture warranty.Again, not saying used is bad, but rather very questionable. Most computers and laptop are only expected to last 3–4 years before you’re expected to start fixing and replacing parts. Buying used, you might as well make that an estimated 2 years if not less.

What top professional brand of trumpet should I consider buying for college?

Your budget will determine what you ultimately decide to purchase. However, what you want to be concerned with is how you will blend with other trumpet players in your ensembles at your school. Believe it or not, there are schools that flat out say not to use a Monette trumpet for an audition.

In my opinion, I think that it's best to choose a trumpet with that has what I like to call the "American Sound Model". It is based upon the sound quality of a Bach trumpet. The reason for this is the bell design of the Bach Stradivarius model. For years, the top professional trumpets were Bach, Benge, and Schilke. With regard to Benge trumpets, this is pre-UMI/Conn-Selmer. They were more popular on the West Coast, as Bach and Schilke was more prevalent on the East Coast. While Schilke trumpets are excellent instruments, they didn't blend well within trumpet sections. Schilke added the "S Series", made specifically to blend more with Bach trumpets.

Enter... Yamaha, along with a host of other manufuctures which some refer to as "Boutique trumpets". Yamaha's YTR-6335 model is much more Bach-like than the Xeno models. There are a lot of classical players who choose to use the YTR-8310Z Bobby Shew model for a Bb trumpet. The lacquered model has a nicer sound than the silverplated model, in my opinion.

Some companies, such as Kanstul for example, happen to make great bells, and some make great valves (like Getzen). The smaller companies use the good parts available from different manufacturers, in oder to make a better trumpet.

While the popular choice might be a Bach trumpet, the quality control is not what it should be with Bach trumpets. In my lifetime, I have only played 2 which I would consider owning. Players who are able to find a "good one" often have to choose it from a selection (15 or more) of Bach's. Few music stores can afford to carry that kind of an inventory, and few trumpet players have the patience to take that much time play-testing that many horns.

Good luck in finding the trumpet that fits you!

Computer always whirring?

If this is a FAN noise, you probably have two or three. One with the power supply, another with the CPU and maybe a third that is mounted on the case. Open the box with the power plug removed, then apply power and turn it on. Listen to each fan. The case and CPU fan is fairly easy to replace, but the power supply fan is more difficult. If it IS the power supply, then consider buying a new power supply. Check http://www.newegg.com for the fan.

If your hard drive lights up continuously, and a reboot takes several minutes, that mean that you have Too many programs running. Hopefully, you have at least 1GB of disk space free. But if the hard drive is especially noisy, maybe it will soon FAIL. It should not be a sort-of scraping sound.

You say that the computer is fairly new, so it should have 512MB of RAM. If not, check your system at http://www.coastmemory.com

Too many programs running could be an issue. The first thing that comes to mind are viruses and Spyware. Check your anti-virus solution, get updates and run a full scan. ou should have an anti-spyware solution on your computer. I recommend that you go to http://www.download.com and get AD-AWARE and SpyBot Search & Destory. Install, run, update and scan your computer with both programs.

Yes, new hard drives do fail. While fairly rare, they do. Take the time to run some tests. Open the MY COMPUTER section, then RIGHT CLICK on the C drive. Click on the TOOLS tab and click CHECK NOW. Check both test buttons then OK. Yes, this test will run after the computer restarts. It should take a half an hour or so. This test will give you higher confidence.

Through the Programs section of the START MENU, pick Accessories, then System Tools. Click on DISK CLEANUP. Everything that this finds can be eliminated from your computer. After running Disk Cleanup, then run DEFRAG. You will see this also in the SYSTEM TOOLS section.
