I don't think so. Her status as Secretary of State lent her prestige; her experience as Secretary of State enhanced her credibility; her work as Secretary of State -- despite Fox News and others' misrepresentations -- demonstrated her qualifications to be president.

I’ve played with this in a meta way.A woman is running and very likely to be nominee. Out of the blue comes someone aiming to bring up “back to the good old days.” Including derogatory comments at women (whether or not he’s got an issue with women, he’s expressed derogatory remarks during the campaign.)Usually as a culture moves to break a glass ceiling of any kind, a counter movement forms that looks to “go back to the old days.”So on the surface there’s no obvious connection of Hillary and then Trump running and winning. But on a meta level… he may very well have run and needed to make American great again … because he has an issue with a woman having more power than him… and a black president who’s leaving without Trump getting to “Trump” him yet.An example of this movement forward, counter movement, radical Islamic groups arose as the Middle East was starting a modernization that included in the practices of Islam. Simply in 1700s the Church was breaking through and moving forward, and a movement arose and won for a while of bringing back a much more ridge Pope who would bring the Church back to it’s “power” days.
