If I Buy A Shitty Guitar .

If I buy a shitty guitar...?

You can buy an inexpensive electric guitar (like a Squier Strat for example) and improve it - upgrade the tuners, pick ups and hardware, but that alone will cost more than the guitar did. You could also have work done on the neck and fingerboard by a skilled person and have it set up perfectly. If the body and neck were okay to start with you could end up with a guitar that you loved and that sounded good and was a dream to play. But "amazing"? I doubt that very much as part of a guitar's sound and feel depends on the body and neck which, effectively, are the guitar - a while ago we had a question here from someone proposing to buy a "cheap" guitar and replacing both the neck and the body! But do that and there is nothing lf the original left!

The improvements mentioned above would cost several times e value of the guitar and for the same amount of money you could have bought a really good guitar in the first place.

I looked at a Strat copy a couple of days ago in a discount store that I would have described as "shitty" - it cost about £60, was unplayable and I would say there was nothing the worth saving, nothing worth working on..

What do you think of schecter guitars ?

I've owned 2 Schecter guitars and my only complaint would be the Duncan Designed pickups on the C1-E/A I had, but the HellRaiser C-1 has active EMG pickups and are much better than the underpowered Duncan Designed pickups. Schecter makes very good guitars. Granted, they're not for everyone and every style of music, but they're a great value and a great guitar for the money. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one if you play it and like how it sounds and feels. I'd rank them a bit higher than the LTD although that's really not a bad guitar for the money either (just avoid the cheaper ESP guitars). You realize that with the MS-1 you're paying a premium for the V shape (I hate V's myself, but whatever floats your boat), and the Mike Spreitzer signature though?

You know they sell both of those at Guitar Center right? Is there a GC near you where you could go play them both? They're pretty equal in quality so it really comes down to which you like playing better.

EDIT: I didn't say you had to buy it from Guitar Center, just that that's a place you could go check both of them out and see which you prefer. Once you decide which you like better buy it from wherever you want. I bought my Schecters on Ebay as B stock (blemished) and never did find anything wrong with either of them, but I paid $450 for a $700 guitar that way, but I sure as heck went to a music store and played one first to see if I thought I'd like that particular guitar.

My guitar's 9v battery dies fast. Anything I can buy so i don't have to keep buying them?

Has you been unplugging it when not in use? It could be a faulty pair of EMGs. If all else fails you could bring it in to your music shop and ask.
Hope it turns out for you. (cool guitar I wish they made one in blue :(

By the way you retard that said jacksons are crap can go and play with his shitty waste of plywood First Act guitar that his daddy bought him at toys r us.

Buying a Fender Standard Strat if i have a shitty amp?

There's an old saying my Dad and Grandaddy told me and is completely true. "You can have an amazing guitar and a shitty amp and sound like ****. Or you can have a basic to mid level guitar and a good amp and sound amazing." Completely true... I have a first act strat copy and a Vox VT120 plus and it has that low end blues body and that high end country twang of a 2000 dollar guitar. That's just my personal preference. American Strats are amazing guitars and have incredible sound (WHEN YOU HAVE GOOD EQUIPMENT TO COMPLIMENT) And that goes all the way down to your cords or any stomp boxes you may have hooked up. Shitty cords can make the sound buzz, scratch, squeal, and a bunch of bad stuff that makes you sound like a drunk hobo on the street corner. Sink a few hundred bucks into a good amp and cords first. Then worry about the guitar

How do I know if my guitar is good or bad?

Chinese made guitars are generally better than Vietnamese made ones
A guitar is not defined as good or bad simply by brand
Its true that some brands (like fender) are more reliable than others(like local music shop brands) but I've also heard a $80 TGM sounding better than a $250 Ibanez, therefore it isn't necessary

Just listen to the sound of the strings, if you like it, then it is a good guitar.
Sound quality can be cheaply upgraded by putting in better quality strings or tuning pegs
Don't worry too much, I'm sure its a great guitar
Just practice hard and don't get discouraged

Remember : A Guitar is only as good as the Guitarist playing it

Can a bad guitar hinder my learning?

YES IT WILL !! if the guitar and its parts are made up of bad quality wood..they are made of cheap woods so you wont get a good tone, like if you play a A minor chord it wont sound perfect even if you have tuned your guitar. These guitars won’t stay long.. particularly in monsoons and winter due to moisture and bad wood quality..the tone will further become worse..the local made guitars are not properly set-up… you may try improving the setup but again it will affect the tone…many times these cheap wood guitars are very uncomfortable to hold..especially the guitar neck area.. bad build quality will lead to pain in wrist and shoulders.. because you try to hold it tightly.. and if you hold it bit loosely you cant play the chords(learners i am saying)As a result of above all you will start losing interest in learning your instrument.. So always invest in a good quality guitar..no need of highly expensive guitars but must be of good quality and you get the same from reputed guitar brands such as Yamaha,Cort,Fender,Ibanez etc.hope this helps :)

Should I sell all my cheap guitars to buy an expensive one?

If your guitar is a cheap Chinese thing (not that a Chinese instrument can't be good) that is frustrating to play and look at, then a pickup swap will NOT do anything for you. You said one is always going out of tune... so what would a pickup swap accomplish? It's like if your car has really poor A/C, and you try to fix it by changing the tires.. A pickup swap is really only justifiable when you love the look and feel of a guitar, and want a different sound. You're gonna want a new instrument.Instead of focusing on a guitar brand you want, just go to a store and try all of them in your price range. Don't look at the headstock. And don't be afraid to look at used! Find one you like, I mean one you REALLY like, and plays great and looks good, whether it's at the top or bottom of your price range. If you can't find one, move your price range up. Save money, sell stuff, make it happen. If you settle for a cheap guitar that you don't really care for, you're gonna end up replacing it soon enough anyways, and therefore spending more money in the long run. Just make sure you really like what you're buying. You should be excited and inspired by it to work harder and progress further as a guitarist. Also, it's really up to you whether or not to sell your old guitars. It's likely that you won't get much for them, but if you're not going to be even touching them if you get a new one.. might as well get what you can for them.Lastly, remember, even a $2,000 guitar will sound terrible through a crappy amp! Make sure you leave room in your budget for a decent beginning amp. But that's a whole discussion on it's own. Good luck!P.S. It'd be best to try to avoid pawn shops if you're not exactly sure how to thoroughly inspect a guitar before buying. There's a large chance that you're going to end up overpaying for a guitar that has flaws that you won't notice until it's too late.

Are Daisy Rock guitars good guitars?

In general? No. For a 10-year-old girl who thinks it's cute or cool, sure. However, at least several models are too heavy for a kid. I have never played one yet that didn't have horrible action. That alone is enough to steer a child away from learning. The construction quality is fair to good, but any quality in sound is difficult to achieve.

I am completely against the entire concept behind this line. It is sexist bs. There is absolutely no reason for gender specific musical instruments.

However, to be fair, you can read reviews on most of the DR models here:
