Any advice??? I have a necklace and a whatch so my jewlry is fine im going into high school and i am a boy.

I did not get to choose my high school classes?( please read details)?

No you shouldnt be worried. If there letting you choose your electives thats good. If they didnt give you a choice at anything well that would be a problem.

If your just going into high school they usually dont let u pick much, if ur already in high school and they didnt they should have let you.

And if you dont like your classes on the first day of school you can always switch out and go into another class.

Hope this helpe you.

How to help 12 y/o to choose education and career path?

Feel free to share my opinion with the counselor:

Your daughter's counselor is a buffoon who doesn't belong anywhere in education. I hope this counselor quits or gets released and winds up working in construction, manufacturing, or some other career that doesn't involve helping people.

You're right. Age twelve is hideously early for someone to be pressed to choose a career. Your daughter's experience is quite narrow and her brain isn't physically mature yet. At this age, she should be encouraged to learn about and experience a wide range of things.

It doesn't hurt for her to have an idea about her future career if she comes by it naturally, but to force her to make a decision is folly. What does it do for her education? If she starts learning specific career skills now, then in ten years they'll be so out of date--what a waste of time!

Brain research shows that the strongest, healthiest mind is the one that is active in a wide range of endeavor. To build a strong mind in this girl, get her opportunities in arts, sports, community service, humanities, sciences. Don't pigeon-hole her this early.

Oh, OK, you have to shut up the counselor. Tell the dimwit that your daughter has decided to become a school counselor because it's obviously such easy work that even a dummy can do it. :-) Seriously, just make something up to shut them up. If you really want to spin their heads, have the girl tell them something different every time they ask. Just don't take this stuff seriously; it's incompetent.

When your daughter is in her junior year, it will be time to tack down a clear career plan in order to plan the college education most effectively.

What Career Should I Choose?

anesthesiologist make around $200,000 a year while a Physical Therapist makes around $76,000 a year. I hate to break it to ya..all medical jobs take the same education pretty much. They all have to go into medical school. Right now you should be taking science and math classes and keeping your GPA good..also take a foreign language each year. Try to work really hard so you can get into AP/honors classes. Also try and go to some science camps so it looks good on your college application. Even working at a camp would look good. You need to pass the ACT/SAT test and Get into a 4 year college to get a bachelor degree. Medical schools always choose the kids with bachelor degrees in science first even though you just need any bachelor..medical school is like a contest and the best gets chosen. You need to pass the MCAT to get in. And then medical school takes another 4 years. and then after that its another 4 years in residency where you choose your medical path. Some 4 year colleges offer bachelor of science degree programs fully online and there are also some colleges that offer ECL early college learning where you can earn credits while in high school..so you can earn the degree online maybe or maybe turn those 4 years into 2 years or 1 year depending on how many transferring credit you have. Also some ecl colleges only offer ecl if you plan on doing your 4 years there and maybe not be able to transfer your credit to other schools. Id always contact the college and ask questions before you choose. But right now choose lots of science and math classes..and join clubs. also the language classes. What i also did was..i got good grades throughout highschool and went to summer school for next years classes..Like if youre in english 9 for 9th grade..take english 10 for 10th grade in summer school and then be in english 11 in your 10th grade year..if you do that you may be able to graduate early and that'll be one less year in the longrun.

I'm Going Into High school What Do I Do?

You are so fortunate! I'll be a junior this yr and cannot wait to graduate! I'm at the drumline at my university and we began train for the summer season and I'm pondering, hi there probably this yr may not be so unhealthy. Good success on being a senior, are you going to university?

The way I see it, you have 2 options. Stick with it and attend with an open mind. You might still like it. Give it a full semester before you start looking at other schools. Try to get involved. Join clubs, leave your door open for the first day or two after moving in, talk with your fellow freshmen, and put effort into your classes. During winter break ask yourself if you are happy there. Do you have friends? Do you like the campus? Do you feel like you are getting a good education? Are the opportunities good?  You can decide that you still dislike the school and begin your second year elsewhere. Visit come college campuses to help your decision. This is your time to reevaluate what you want. What did you not like about the school? Research school rankings, look at types of financial aid that you can get  (many private schools offer good merit based scholarships that are based on your grades), whether you were happy with the size of your school, how happy you were with the campus, etc. If you are going to live on campus you should pick a school that you wouldn't mind living on. Learn from your mistake and go somewhere for you. Don't stay in a place that you are miserable at because you are dating someone. Look after your needs too. In summary: Try to have a good time and get involved, and then afterwards decide if you like the school enough to stay or start researching to find a school that you do like. I know this stuff can be difficult to navigate, but it is possible to get through. Good luck with finishing your senior year!

What should i choose as a career or major?? help!?

I am going to be a senior when school starts! and i havent really decided what i want to do yet. its like when i try to think theres so many different options. i want a fun career that makes a lot of money, lol!! and i dont have much time left to decide before i have to start applying to universities! my dad thinks i would make a good lawyer or speech therapist (i love kids!), but i really dont want my parents to decide for me. when i was little i wanted to be a doctor (pediatrician or baby doctor), but hey when your a little kid you want to be a lot of things, right? my mom says medical school is really expensive and it takes a lot of time and dedication before you actually start making any money...so what if i decide to do premed and decide i dont like it, then what. i can't go into college undecided, that is simply a waste of time in my opinion because my dad has known college students who went in undecided and just took a bunch of history and art classes...help??

How much education do i need to become a crime scene investigator?

Most crime scene investigators are police officers or police detectives. If you want to become a police detective, you must first become a police officer. Requirements to become a police officer vary, and how you become a police officer varies depending on the police department. How you become a detective also depends on the department. Most departments require officers to work at least 2 (usually more) years as patrol officers before being eligible to become detectives. It is possible to become a federal criminal investigator without becoming a police officer. Many federal agencies have criminal investigators. You usually need at least a 4 year college degree to become a federal criminal investigator. Getting law enforcement officer jobs is becoming more and more competitive. You should definitely get a college degree if you can. Getting a college degree is one of the best things that you can do. Many agencies require or prefer applicants to have college. Having a degree could help you get hired with some agencies. Some agencies pay their officers more if they have a degree. Having a degree could also help you get promoted during your career. You should choose a major that interests you, that is marketable, and that could be useful for police work. There are many majors that are good for law enforcement officers and people that want to become law enforcement officers. Computer science, communications, forensic science, law, and psychology are some examples. When choosing a major, consider what you might want to do if you decide not to become a law enforcement officer or if you can't become a law enforcement officer. Whatever major you choose, make the most of your time while in college. Choose a school that is properly accredited, get the highest grade point average that you can, participate in a couple extracurricular activities, get a good internship, do some regular volunteer work, don't do anything illegal, and maintain a good reputation. Get a 4 year degree if you can. Consider local, state, and federal jobs. Best of luck!

How many classes do I take in my freshman year of high school?

Ok usually it's five or six core classes and two or three electives.

You can only take Geometry if you passed Algebra 1 already, and in eighth grade it's usually Pre-Algebra so check with your current math teacher to make sure.
You can't get into a higher course without passing the prerequisite.

Biology is more advanced sometimes people with higher levels in science will get placed into there, and the ones with lower levels are integrated science, earth science and physical science, so lets just hope your high school isn't big, and maybe you'll have a chance to get Bio. which is pretty easy.

If you need an example of a freshman schedule, here is mine (currently a freshman)
Were a 4x4 block school (our classes are divided into two semesters)

First semester:
1. Intro. Musical Performance (elective)
2. World Literature honors (core)
3. Biology honors (core).
4. Algebra I honors (core)

Second semester:
1. English honors I (core)
2. Geometry honors (core)
3. Computing for college and careers (elective)
4. Critical Thinking advanced (elective but required for me)

Ninth grade is the year your limited to anything of your choice, Most core classes are mandatory, you need at least one year of english, math and science.
Then tenth grade you can chose but your still limited, since you must have at least one year of english, math, science and history. But you still get to chose which (like AP or honors), as long as you passed the prerequisite.
Eleventh you get to chose what you want, it's all up to you... if you know you need one more credit of science than you can take pretty much any science that you want (as long as you pass the prerequisite) Most go for AP bio.
Twelfth is when ITS all up to you, most people take a sport that they like, others take classes that can either help them or just interest them. And slackers take classes that they need to catch up on.
