If I Get Put Into Foster Care Will I Get To Keep My Cat Uk

Do animal shelters kill pregnant dogs or cats?

I heard from someone that I shouldn't bring a pregnant stray dog or cat to animal shelters because they will put them to sleep and kill them, because it isn't cost effective. I have brought a pregnant cat to my home for the sake of bringing her to a shelter before she gives birth to the kittens. I love cats but right now I can't have to many. Does anyone know? Because it wouldn't be fair to bring her there when I wish for her the best of life!

Where can I donate my cat, who has worms, because I can't afford her any longer and don't want to drop her off on the streetside? I've no friends or family that can help.

First of all, what TYPE of worms are you talking about? I have read very good responses regarding treatments. If it is internal worms, you have been given very good inexpensive suggestions. In addition, there is a safe organic-type product called “Diatomaceous Earth FOOD GRADE,” or short version is “DE-Food Grade,” that is a fine-powdery substance. It is safe for all animals such as livestock, domestic pets, reptiles, etc.. It is even safe for human consumption in small amounts. It can be purchased at most any livestock retail such as Tractor Supply or a local feed & seed store. The DE-Food Grade is very inexpensive per volume and it goes a LONG way, lasting a long time and can be used daily sprinkling a small amount, say 1/4th teaspoon in cat food, dry or wet. If you do, stir it so it mixes in with the food. It kills anything “exoskeletal.” That means internal parasites, fleas, ticks, spiders, roaches, ants, etc..Hopefully, you are not talking about *heartworms* which is another dire situation altogether. You did not provide much information for anyone to give you more specific suggestions without having to write, then you read, a long email.Another option if you need to re-home your cat, recommendation is first do NOT offer to advertise the cat “For Free.” There are too many ill-intentioned people to risk that who might abuse the cat.Next, if you must re-home and you have no animal control shelter (not recommended), the first is to search the internet to see all the feline rescue groups in your area and send them an email with details about the cat such as age, breed (or mix or best way to describe the cat), approximate age, general health, vaccination status (or advise not current if so), attaching several cute pictures. In addition, describe of of the cat’s cute antics.Good luck. Hope you can keep the cat yourself. There are so many cats and kittens euthanized every year due to overpopulation and turning the cat over to animal control is risky business since they are typically already overrun by people unable or unwilling to keep their precious pets.Like someone has already suggested, make some personal financial modifications of yourself for the benefit of your pet. That is what becoming an adult with responsibilities is all about.Good luck.

What paper work would you have to file to get kid back from foster care?

I presume you’re asking how you would be reunified with your child if your child has been placed in foster care, right? I don’t think it’s so much a matter of paperwork, but rather working with a social worker on a case plan for the child and parents, and doing the work in the case plan.Let’s say that at birth the mom and baby test positively for an illegal drug, or the mom gives birth and hasn’t had any prenatal care and appears to have a drug problem, or the father appears to be abusing the mom or other kids, or something else. Presuming Child Protective Services gets involved, they may elect to put the child in a foster home pending more investigation into the suitability of the parents. If the situation appears detrimental to the baby, a case plan that describes visitation and what the parents have to do to get custody is created. That could include treatment for drug addiction, anger management or parenting classes, better housing, or any of a number of changes. So, it’s not just paperwork, although I am sure that there is plenty. It’s more about creating a safe environment for the baby/child.Chuck Hawley

First time fostering kittens. Advice?

OK, I foster around 20 to 30 kittens per year. It is a very easy and rewarding and heartbreaking job.
You need to know the age of the kitten. Care will depend on the age. If they are under 4 weeks, you may need to bottle feed them and stimulate them to pee and poo.
If they are older, then you really need to focus on socialization. Hopefully you will have more than one at a time. They learn from each other. So, play with them. Have them out of the cage so they can run around and climb. Let them chase and jump and hiss and growl. Spend lots of human time with petting and grooming.
yes, introduce them to your dog as they will be more adoptable if they are comfortable with a dog. And children. Most people who adopt kittens are doing so for the children. (I borrow my neighbors kids to play with the kittens and handle them the way that kids do.).
Just be sure they are safe from the dog so he won't hurt them.
Let me know if I can be of any further help. I love fostering kittens and I have done it for 3 years. Kitten season will start next month so I will be in for my 4th year. I love it.

I am leaving my cat for an entire year. How do I help him adjust?

I personally don't think you should have him suffer quarantine- and I certainly don't think you should take him to Chile with you! That would be a bit mad I think. What would happen if he got out somehow and something happened to him?

I went away for a year and my parents told me that everyday, my cat sat outside my bedroom door crying for me- for the whole year, and he was really pleased to see me when i came back (after a few hours of trying to ignore me, but he couldn't help himself!). He will not forget you, but will miss you.

If you leave him with your parents, as long as they are patient and quiet and gentle with him, he will get used to them. Remember, they will be feeding him so he will get used to them. In his own time, he will choose to interact with them or may not, but he will be so much better off with your parents, in a surrounding he has experienced before, rather than in quarantine in a foreign country. Bear in mnd, he would probably need to go back into quarantine for longer when you re enter your own country. Also, I must point out that a lot of countries do not have the same respect for pets as we do in the Uk or America. (I don't know where you are from!)
I adopted an abandoned puppy in mexico, and then my friend paid for him to come back to the UK where he had to spend 6 months in quarantine. We visited every week but it destroyed him and he was not the same animal when he got out.
I hope I have helped? And good luck

I have to leave my cat alone for 2 weeks?

I am in the National Guard and was unexpectedly called in for 2 weeks. I have been taking care of a cat I found wounded outside of our apartment a couple months ago.

The thing is that I have to leave it alone at my apartment because I don't have money to pay for the kennels or shelters to keep it and I wouldn't want it in that environment anyways. She is the type of cat that can deal with being at home without feeling deprived of contact and she has always been happy. I know it is not the best option but I have unexpectedly been called in tomorrow and I don't have enough time to search around for pet sitters or anything. I understand it isn't a great option but I know if I leave plenty of food and water and toys she would be fine, a little bored, but fine. What do you all think?
