Vacation hours when quitting.?
I plan on quitting my job,'I was involved in a physical altercation and since then I've taken off the following day which was a Friday and don't plan on going back.if I don't appear at my job, it's obvious that i quit. However, wouldn't they still have to pay me my vacation hours I've acrrued even without notice? It's a hostile work environment and i don't want to return.

I disagree. Unless you were on sort of stated probationary period (typically 90 days), then you will get the money. The employer is required by state law, at least here in Kansas, to pay you your accumulated vacation pay. It doesn't sound like you were on a probationary period as you usually don't accumulate any vacation until the end of the probation, and then it is entered retroactive. So you wouldn't even know how many hours you have. Your benefits packages probably reads something to the effect that you accumulate 40 hours of vacation your first year, which is why you have accumulated 10 hours so far. If it's "paid time off", then that is different. However, these are generally kept in separate accounts. With regards to "paid time off", you usually just have to walk away from it unless your benefits manual says otherwise.

I'm having surgery soon and I have to quit but I don't want to lose my vacation time. Will they pay me those hours when I quit? (I work in Illinois) Also, I know they don't pay your personal time when you quit but I don't want to lose those either. Is it ok if I use my hours and my final day at work be that last day that I'm using my personal hours even though technically my last day working would be like 3 days before...or would I have to work at least one day after I use my personal hours?
