If I Rma A Graphics Card And It Turns Out It Works .

I have 2 GB graphics card memory and 16 GB of RAM. Why can't my PC still play games in ultra settings or can I get my on-board graphics card to use the full 16 GB?

Since you say your motherboard can support 16 gb of ram, I'd guess that you have a fairly good cpu and that you'd also have Intel integrated graphics along with your graphics card. If you have a 3rd or 4th gen cpu @ atleast 2.6 ghz, thats way more than enough for most games out there..Now what about your hard disk?If you have a standard hard disk, specifically the 5400 rpm type, you're gonna get shitty gaming performance because it has ridiculously slow read/write speeds. I sold my old dell xps (i7,7gb ram,4 gb graphics) for the very same reason.Best thing you could do (if this is your problem) is to get a SSD and install whatever games/programs for which you want better performance onto that, because SSDs have considerably higher read/write speeds as compared to a hard disk. You will notice a vast improvement.7200 rpm HDDs are acceptable. Also, make sure to keep your hard disk defragmented at regular intervals.(DO NOT DEFRAG SSDs.EVER.).Next, we check how fast your ram is. You obviously have ddr3 ram and acceptable gaming speeds for ddr3 is 1600 mhz and higher(upto 2000+ mhz). If your motherboard only supports much slower speeds, then this could be your problem. The only solution is to buy a motherboard that supports faster speeds and buy faster ram as well..Next, does your pc have overheating issues? Try to keep it as clean as possible from the inside, no dust-clogged vents, etc. Spick and span it should be. If possible buy a cooling unit. Remove the side panels of your chassis, they only trap hot air and heat everything up. Try getting your cpu cooling paste replaced or changed for a more heavy duty type paste. This works wonders..Try downloading the latest drivers for your gpu. Its possible you may have outdated drivers that are incompatible with the games you're trying to play..Do you have other resource hungry applications running in the background? Use task manager to kill unnecesary tasks and then play..I can't think of anything else, but if you still have problems you can send me your pc's configuration and I'll try to see what could the issue could be.

Graphics Card Overheating? Help?

I recently began building a new computer. Right now, I have a Radeon 4890 Extreme Version Graphics Card. It does have a fan built on it and it is working but it doesn't seem to be helping any. It freezes once in a while and won't turn back on until it cools down. I have a Cooler Master HAF 932 Tower and all of it's fans are working. It keeps everything else cool but for some reason, it doesn't keep the graphics card cool enough.

It works exponentially better when I take off the case cover but it still freezes after about 30 minutes or so.

I have not messed with the bios at all yet.

Also, if it's important, the temperature of my room is 68 degrees F. I lowered my AC to see if that would make a difference and it did, kind of. Either way, I did not notice any significant temperature rise in the room except when I put my hand directly over the back of the computer where the Video Card exhaust is. I don't currently have a thermometer (except for a baby thermometer and it's hotter than the max on that.)

So, my questions are:
1. Are these graphic cards prone to overheating or is it just mine?
2. How do you fix the issue?
2. If all else fails, should I exchange it or just get my money back and try a different graphics card? (Bought it from Tigerdirect. Already have issues with the other things I ordered from them. Never going to buy from them again)

AMD Overdrive issues with graphics card.?

I have recently purchased a New Ati Radeon 5770 and I found out that Overdrive works with it. Anyways I overclocked the GPU to 740Mhz and the Memory to 1285Mhz. and It runs very laggy. to my discovery Overdrive is actually Under Clocking my GPU all the way down to 157Mhz and the memory down to 300Mhz. the graphics card performs better when overdrive is not running. I think the stock speed for it is 400 cause that it is what it says when overdrive is disabled. And no matter what it refuses to go any higher. The card is staying under 55 degrees Celsius and it passed the Test for the custom clocks. What can I do to resolve this issue cause I am a video editor and I would LOVE to run this thing overclocked. Any help isappreciatedd but Pleasedon't't lecture me about how shouldn't't overclock my stuff cause I have been overclocking for a very long time.

What would you do to diagnose if your CPU is not working or if the motherboard is not working?

Well, it could actually be that you have a bad power supply as well.First thing I would do is power on the machine, then watch and listen. All of those blinking lights and buzzing and beeping of a machine has purpose and meaning, the trick is deciphering it.Do I have any lights? Yes/NoDo I hear/see any fans turning on? Yes/NoDo I hear any beeps coming from the computer? Yes/NoDo I see any diagnostic LEDS on the front OR on the motherboard itself? Yes/NoIf the power supply is bad, you generally won’t get anything at all. No lights, no fans, no beeps, nothing that would indicate that the computer is starting up.If the motherboard is bad and you power on the machine you should at least see some lights come on, some fans will likely start spinning and there will possibly be this annoying beeping noise.Generally a bad CPU means that the computer powers on but nothing else happens or you get some interesting error messages on the screen, something akin to processor not found, aborting boot sequence. It could be a constant beeping similar to removing the memory or video card from a machine. If you hear beeping, count the beeps and note any pauses, such as 3 beeps, a pause then 2 beeps or 7 beeps that keeps repeating or 1 continuous long beep and search for the beep codes for your computer. Same things for diagnostic lights, find the number/pattern and then search the internet for your model computer. If you have spare parts, that makes life extremely easy. Much easier to test when you have two machines to swap parts between or just a box of parts you can plug in to test.

What might cause a graphics card to suddenly die during gameplay?

Quite a few things:Is your GPU overheating?GPUs tend to shut down to prevent damage if their temperatures go high enough.Use something like MSI Afterburner to check GPU temps. If they’re higher than 80 after prolonged gaming, consider checking your case fans and GPU fans if they’re turning or if there’s dust in the heatsinksAre the cables plugged in correctly?Happened to me a few times, I couldn’t figure out why my GPU suddenly turned off with fans ramping up. I replugged everything in, and realised it was a power cable loose. Is your power supply able to handle supplying power to the GPU?Some GPUs need more power, and if there’s not enough power, something will likely trip. You won’t notice much when scrolling youtube or facebook, but gaming puts power loads on it, drawing more power. Is your CPU overheating?Same as 1.Under MSI Afterburner, if your temps hit 90+ on gaming loads, check on the heatsinks and fansIf nothing improves, consider reapplying thermal paste (if you’re using the one that came with your intel cooler or something, there’s a good chance it’s solidified). There are lots of guides on the internet on how to reapply thermal paste. If this doesn’t help, you can try replacing a cooler with something better, like a Cryorig C7 or a Hyper 212If none of these do anything, you may have to request an RMA on your GPU.Do leave a comment on your PC Specs, and elaborate on your symptoms so we can narrow down the issue.Cheers~

Do artifacts mean your graphics card is dying? What else could cause them? I am concerned as I saw these green artifacts on Google Chrome, but when I alt-tabbed into a game they weren't there (my GPU temps were around 40c)?

Sorry for the delay in this answer. Generally, if your graphics card is dying, you will see artifacts all the time while they are under load. At that temperature if there were problems you would see artifacts as soon as you get to the desktop. The problem is that some GPU and driver combinations don’t like switching between full screen modes and windows modes. Full screen modes, especially if they are not the same resolution as your windows desktop, can cause screen issues like tearing or artifacts when you switch back and forth because the screen frame and buffer have to be switched out of GPU memory and sometimes the driver doesn’t do a clean job switching. It will usually clear itself up when you close the game because then the GPU driver can flush the game frame and buffer from memory allowing the windows desktop to do a complete redraw.

How do I kill my laptop without making it obvious that it's on purpose? I'm looking for something like frying the graphics card or motherboard, but directly damaging the cooling won't do.

There's numerous ways, depends on for what purpose and how thoroughly it's going to be inspected. Here's a few ideas depending on model that I can think of.1: remove the CPU, clean off all residual cooling paste using baby wipes and place the CPU back in along with heatsink, go to bios settings disable any hardware damage prevention settings and then turn the CPU fan right down, install a benchmark tool and stress test the CPU at max settings for aslong as necessary to burn out the CPU, some of these actions may void warranty, there's means of getting round that too if you're creative.2. use a supershitty Chinese brand multilingual laptop charger with adjustable voltages, find a voltage exceeding what your laptop needs, be prepared to blow the fire out and take it outside.3. Jump on a trampoline for like 10 mins with no rubber on and make sure to wear a full woollen outfit. Next make sure you have removed laptop casing prior and have the laptop handy and touch any number of chips, static build up should do some damage, especially in older laptops.4. Remove the hard drive, hold a decent magnet over the physical disk and give it a few passes to wipe some data and with any luck you'll corrupt an important sectorNote, these .at seriously stuff your device and or void the warranty, good luck with your escapades and let me know the outcome, disclaimer, always be cautious when dealing with any live electrical currents.
