If I Support The Butcher Then Does That Mean I Am Eating Well

Is it halal to give animals Anesthetics before butchering them?

For normal slaughter...animals can be stunned before slaughtering in a way that if not slaughtered they can be brought back to normal life...and at the time of slaughter they are not dead...

But for slaughtering at Eid ul Adha...this is not permitted...as the condition of the animal at the time of slaughtering is that it should be defectless.....neither have broken horns or any disease or illness and should be in healthy state in all respects...

as far as the mistreatment with animals is concerned...individual non-professionals are responsible for that...otherwise it is written that knife should be very sharp, and animal should be firmly held..

Allah knows best.............

Is it hypocrisy to eat meat and support animal rights?

No. In GB, Ireland, Europe, North America and other advanced countries all have high welfare standards, and slaughter is carried out humanely. Propaganda videos by animal rights extremist groups such as PETA, on the Net and elsewhere are either faked or taken in a far-off 3rd World country.
As for your religion, just follow its teachings and commands. I am a Catholic Christian myself so don't have mammal meat or poultry on Fridays [or Ash Wednesday], but can still eat fish or shellfish on these days, If your religious sect is Christian remember Jesus Christ was not a vegetarian, He is recorded as eating fish, and as an observant Jew he would certainly have eaten lamb at festivals.

My mother hates me for wanting to be vegan?

Do you live for them, or for yourself? Whose values do you want to prioritize? If you absolutely can not communicate with them, it is your obligation to ignore them. If you do communicate, try to find them some good books or articles that address those subjects. The notion that meat is good for you is very outdated, as for dairy, any good nutritionist working in 2013 will tell you it was never meant for human consumption. We are not equipped to digest it properly, and besides, is there another species in Nature that drinks the milk of someone else? And do grown up animals drink milk? No, only their babies. About the meat, you should dig deeper and learn about the fact that it makes the body acidic, which is the main cause for all degenerative diseases, and that it is also packed with hormones, antibiotics and a lot of stuff you really don't want in you. Not to mention the fact that animals about to be killed are very much aware of what is happening to them, they feel the horror, and release some substances that go directly into the cells of those eating that meat. Do you really want to have death encoded in your cells, with all the consequences that it brings? If you can manage to have a calm, mature conversation with your relatives about that, I'm just giving you some arguments you might try. But I feel your pain, food is a drug, and people will never give up what they are taught to be right, especially when they have a non existent level of awareness or compassion and respect for all Life. Quitting smoking or alcohol is a piece of cake compared to setting yourself free from the stereotypes of many generations. But the worst part, these people will fight tooth and nail if someone else is trying to escape the mold, the matrix. So be brave, don't give up. Your choice is the right one. It's not a coincidence that so many people are in therapy over family issues, almost no one can make it out of there with his sanity intact. No one should have the right to force you to eat something you have chosen not to eat. Just show them what you're made of, go on a hunger strike if you have to. At some point, they will have to respect your decision. Don't give up. You owe it to yourself.

Halal butchers. Advantages and disadvantages?

Halal is to Muslims as Kosher is to the Jewish folks. The rules for halaal food are less stringent than the Kashrut laws. BUT the basic laws are hte same. THAT you kill the animal swiftly without scaring him or killing one animal in front of another. The person killing should be experienced and an adult. Give the animal food and water before killing it. Make sure you take the name of the MOST HIGH before killing the animal, recognizing that the animal really is the property of the Almighty Lord and you are taking life with HIS PERMISSION and for food. BE as kind to the animal as possible under the circumstances. Normally the process is so swift that the blood drains out and makes the animal black out and faints. Any movement thereafter is because of the muscles contracting.

Halal meat is made in a way to drain away blood which has many diseases and causes diseases in people who eat meat in which blood has not been drained. It is also meat that does not spoil as quickly.

How long would the meat from a single cow last the average American family?

There are a lot of variables at stake here (pun not intended). This depends on the size of the “cow” (I’m going to call it steer from now on, just because), the breed and finish of that steer (i.e., you’re going to expect more meat from a Angus steer than a Jersey steer), the size of the family, how much meat is consumed daily by that family. So just for kicks and giggles let’s say they are able to finish out an Angus-cross steer (because one of the kids is an FFA or 4H member), and the steer weighs in at finish at 1350 lbs. The dressing weight would be 62% for a beef steer, so that means the steer has a hanging weight of around 845 lb. This hanging weight isn’t including the weight of the hide, head, legs, tail, offal, and extra fat that needs to be trimmed off prior to the carcass being stored in a cooler for ~10 days. Now, the average meat to get from that carcass should be about 65% of that hanging weight, so the steer should give around 550 lb of boneless, ready-to-cook meat for that family.Let’s say this family is your average family of 4: husband and wife and two kids. Let’s also assume they conform to the average US meat consumption rate of 0.36 lb per person per day. So, this entire family is expected to consume 1.44 lb of meat per day. This means that that steer will last that family for 382 days, or over a year, plus or minus 10 days depending on many other factors including which select organs they’ve kept back, which likes to eat more meat a day than others, and other variables. This is not surprising. We’ve butchered a steer that gave a 650 lb carcass weight and he lasted us for a whole year. And man he was good. Nothing like home-grown meat, beats anything coming from the grocery store shelves.
