If I Turn My Data Off Will It Stay Off

What will happen if I turn off cellular data on my iPhone? Can I still make a phone call?

Cellular data only allows the phone to connect to a data network over its cellular connection (i.e. 3G, 4G, LTE, etc). You can use Wi-Fi for most of your communications. Also, you can choose which of your installed applications use cellular data when you have it active. If you go into Settings > Cellular, you can check/uncheck the applications you wish to have access to your cellular data. When the apps are unchecked, they will only communicate over Wi-Fi (when you are connected). Doing this, you may be able to leave cellular data active (which will only engage when Wi-Fi is disconnected) and only have a small number of apps use it.The same page (where the cellular data switches are) will also show you how much data each one of your apps consumes. Note that it is lifetime data; you have to reset it to see a particular time frame. The counter reset button is all the way at the bottom of that page. You can also use the “brute force” method to force everything on to Wi-Fi:Activate “Airplane Mode,” which turns off all radiosManually turn on Wi-Fi.Can I still make a phone call? That depends on your service provider. The iPhone has the capability of supporting “Wi-Fi Calling,” but your carrier needs to support the feature also (since it’s the carrier’s VoIP endpoint that will service the call). T-Mobile, by default, supports Wi-Fi calling. It’s how they make up the difference for an, overall, weaker cellular signal. On a T-Mobile Android phone, Wi-Fi calling is on by default. On a T-Mobile iPhone, you must activate Wi-Fi calling. Not all carriers support Wi-Fi calling. For those that do not, you will have to activate your cellular radios to make a call.

Can I send and receive texts if I turn off cellular data and Wi-Fi on my iPhone?

Certainly ‘Yes ‘ .SMS stands for Short Message Services .This one of the many Basic services just like telephony , call waiting etc which need to be provisioned for a stranded Mobile subscriber , so It doesn't Matter which Handset you are using , ( Iphone.. Andriod or any basich phone like Nokia 3310 )SMS falls under is non-voice basic services .So SMS service is pretty old and does not required the “Data” ( here data means data services enables eg. 2g ( edge/GPRS), 3 data, or 4G) or Wifi connection .I would say any mobile phone should support this basic service .Even if you are not talking your phone is constantly sending and receiving information through radio channels towards Base transceiver station ( BTS) eg, control channel. In GSM to enable SMS, there are some basic protocols such as SS7(Signaling System No.7) and SMPP(Short Message Peer to Peer Protocol).SS7 used between core elements. SMPP is used in IP domain.Below is the complete call flow with more details :-image src: rf wirelessSo as long as you have GSM signal you can send and recive sms.Now a days some operators have Wifi Calling service here you can still send and receive voice calls and legacy SMS if you are on coverage of only WiFi.interesting point here that SMS is transmitted via Mobile Application Part (MAP) of the SS7 protocol where the payload length limited by 1120 bits, which further limits the maximum size of txt message as 160 7-bit characters .Well it is also worth to mention that the new IM messaging apps like whatsapp, Viber , WeChat etc are killing legacy SMS service and rarely people use SMS .If you liked it please upvote!

How can I let Android automatically turn off Mobile data connection when I turn on wifi and vice versa?

In android, WiFi is given more priority. The main reasons being..to save battery as mobile data consumes a lot more battery than what WiFi does and also, WiFi’s usually are a lot faster in terms of internet speed compared to mobile data. When the mobile data is ON and you turn on the WiFi, it automatically gets connected to a WiFi network which it recognises and stops using the mobile data. So you don't have to turn off the mobile data when you turn on WiFi.When the phone is connected to a WiFi network and when you switch on the mobile data, it has no affect on it. It continues to use mobile data. The only time mobile data is used while the phone is connected to a WiFi network is when the WiFi has limited access (the WiFi has an exclamation mark on it)It shows that the phone is connected to the WiFi with limited access but uses mobile data in the background.

Can I track a cellphone even if the location is turned off?

If a phone is "switched off" it is actually in a sleep or standby mode (that's how the button wakes it up) so it is not actually offBetter would be airplane mode with radio turned off. The the obvious answer is "no radio = no trace"But it is conceivably there are "trap doors" or "spyware" that could still record voices and transmit location if required. This wouldn't be a normal thing; it wouldn't be obvious - but only a fool would say NSA & GCHQ can't do it.People who scared of being monitored will take the battery out of their phone (tricky with iPHONE... make sure it is very, very flat) and then put it in the fridge. And then go somewhere else, leaving it there.

What happens when Android WIFI turned off?

Wifi does a few different things for you if you have it enabled while away from your home Network. if you start navigation or open Maps it helps by including anonymous data which includes location from nearby routers which may be in range of your phone. This increases the accuracy of the results which you receive. If you are an ATT customer your phone will automatically log onto any ATT wifi hot spot, an example would be at Starbucks, McDonald's and numerous hotels. when you get home if you have a wifi router hooked up to your internet your phone will connect automatically. if your normal 3 or 4G is weak at the house it will help conserve your battery by not having to search for a weak data signal from your carrier, also data received over a wifi signal doesn't count against you data allowance from your provider. when out on the town your internet on your phone will function because it is received over your 3 or 4G data connection.

Note: if you by chance happen to go on an international cruise, turn it off unless you have subscribed to the ships on board wifi service. every three to five minutes your phone will search for a wifi signal; which the ship and your carrier will be happy to bill you for. my bill was astronomical! lesson learned..
