If I Use My Cross Trainer 6 Times A Day For 10 Minutes Is It Still The Same As Using It For An

If I do 10 minute elliptical runs a day and 40 minute weight training 5 times a week how fast will I see results?

Here is how to optimize your training for the fastest results:1. Cardio is optional, weight training is required. When you lift weights, do compound exercises like deadlifts, squats, presses, rows, and pull-ups. Do these movements with heavy weights and 5-10 reps per set. Heavy is the most important part. 2. When doing cardio, don't bother with keeping your heart rate at 120 for 30 minutes, blah, blah, blah. Go hard for a short amount of time. Since you're on the elliptical, do your 10 minutes, but go as hard as you can for 1 minute then take a slow minute. Repeat 4 more times. Learn to use kettlebells if possible, they offer the best cardio besides running, swimming, and lifting a 100lb sandbag for distance. 3. You need to eat well. You can't just count calories. If you have questions on why just cutting calories will not help, feel free to ask me. For best results, eliminate excessive carbs like wheat, oatmeal, sugar, and excessive fruit consumption. Eat primarily vegetables (corn and potatoes do not count) and meat. If you can do that, expect to see results quickly. 4. Sleep 8 hours per night minimum. Be asleep 6 days of the week by 10:30PM for best results. The 7th day is your night 'off' to get wild and do whatever. 5. Manage your stress. Pick your number one biggest stress, make a plan to manage it, and follow that plan. Only work on one stress at a time. Stress can ruin a fat loss attempt. Hope that helps!Nate

Is 30 minutes a day on an elliptical trainer enough?

I have started exercising about 2 weeks ago. When I first started I was dying after 5 minutes at 40 RPM on my elliptical trainer. Now, I am up to 30 minutes, at alternating speeds but I am doing about 10 minutes at 60 RPM. At the end of the 30 minutes I am sweating my buns off and very out of breath, but it's getting a little less horrible every day. (I don't actually enjoy exercising, it's a chore for me) My question is, am I doing enough for me to be able to expect to see weight loss and possibly (gasp!) muscle tone? If so, how long should that take? If not, What should I change? (I have modified my diet, not to the extent that I intend to, but I thought I'd get in the exercise habit before I change my diet a whole lot...I don't want to discourage myself.)

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

There are so many good answer here, but allow me to share my humble opinion in this subject. I believed this question deserve an answer but it would be 2 part.Lets look into:1. How effective is Elliptical machine for losing weight 2. Why am I not losing anymore weight1st one: How effective is Elliptical machine for losing weightHonestly it is quite effective. Before I started Muay Thai boxing, I used to use this machine as my choice of cardio. It really help me burns off some fat as i move almost more part of my body especially the legs when doing the exercise.A good read is How to Use the Elliptical for Fat Loss. I think most equipment in the gym has its own place and time. So I don’t think the problem here is with the equipment2nd: Why am I not losing anymore weightI know how you feel and I was once dishearten by the result I am getting as well. I would spend hours on the gym and hit it hard every time on both weight and cardio (and I was slightly injure too from pushing too hard), but I am just not losing more weight. What going on here? This is when I start to realized what I did wrong. I was working too hard, and I diet too long. I didn’t even get a break. And that’s what you need to do. What? A break? Yes that’s right, what you need is a break from all this. Just take a short break like a week of doing nothing. No going to gym and pushing too hard, and no diet that makes you miserable. Once you have your break, then only come back with a fresh mind and body, and start all over again. Or you can deload your workout for a week before pushing hard the next. Why is running every day on a treadmill not helping me to lose weight?

This is a common “myth” taht many women (and some men) still think will get them leaner, and fitter….I unfortunately used to follow this myself. ONLY to find that I kept gaining weight. ..and I am sure that in your mind, running “burns calories’ therefore the scale should be a lower number right? Not necessarily.Let me clear up a few things first.I was at my heaviest in my early 30s when I did 2 hours of cardio daily, ate diet foods, and skipped meals. Now, at 58, I wear a bikini, have maintained my weight for over 20+ years, and NEVER do cardio by itself.I created a digital product that has sold thousands of copies that will help you when you click Final Fat Meltdown >>> 30 Days to Weight Loss to get you to a slimmer, more youthful body….but first you HAVE to change how you think about exercise, and eating. This is how I coach in our gym so that people can transform their bodies. If you are doing 1 hour of cardio. Your body will burn a certain amount of calories, and in the process, burn through muscle tissue which is the only metabolically active tissue. When you are done doing cardio. You are done burning calories. Unlike short bursts of bodyweight or strength training, which can burn calories for 24–48 hours AFTER you are done exercising.Strength training creates muscle tissue. Which weights more than fat, but takes up less space. SO, you might weigh the same, but in the process lose inches, and firm up flab, while looking and feeling better.Eat for energy, NOT for weight loss. Strict diets make you obsess about what you are “not allowed” to have. Counting and cutting too many calories is a pain, AND will leave you hungry, miserable and promote cravings. Is a 15 minute daily workout enough?

15 mins is okay.
but you can do extra 5 mins here and there and add to work out time.
i study different diets and exercise methods. there ia a one day a week workout called The Slow Burn Revolution. a 30min workout. it could be done on Sunday or any day you have extra time for one longer workout.
i've never found a better beat for exercise than what is in Metallica songs.
i'm sure there are others but it's like Metallica music drives me forward.

I do 10k/6.2 miles a day on my exercise bike. Is that enough to lose weight?

It's a good start but you want to increase the time and effort a little more each week. You body will adapt to the same exercise very quickly and burn less calories. Start out with an easy 10 min warm up and then start pedaling at 70-90 rpms with just enough resistance to get your heart rate to about 85% of max. On a real bike you burn about 35 calories per mile 22 per km. Exercise bikes are easier the the real thing so you will burn less. I would do 30 min and work up to a hour. If you are not sweating after 15 min you are not doing it right.

I have a bike in my trainer and try to do 35-45 min at a time on it. It gets too boring after that. I use to be able to get my heart rate to a little over max. I usually watch TV and crank it up during the commercials.

Your diet will do a lot more toward your weight loss then any amount of exercise. The exercise is good for your heart and to tone your legs and butt.
