If Im Filling Out Applications Online Do I Need To Include A Cover Letter And/or References

I'm filling out a job application for Subway online?? HELP PLEASE!?

And they want to know my Education I already typed it in. I attended one year of High school and I have no Diploma or G.E.D I also have no References AT ALL, but I have to type something in and I don't know what to do???? Help please??? I've even tried typing N/A does not work :(

Where do I put the reference code listed with an online job posting?

Like everything else, this answer depends on the lister.

First choice is to include the reference code in the subject line on the email response.:

In the body of your cover letter write:
Responding to your reference code listed as RAD-Administrative Assistant

There may be listings where they specifically ask you to include it in the subject line, or in the first paragraph of your cover letter: If no such direction is given, list the information directly beneath the ATTENTION: Individual Name, in direct indentation write the subject reference number and the source from which you got the number.

Good luck in your search.

Do you have to provide references on a job application?

There is a job application (a form given to you by a potential employer or a recruitment agency that you need to fill out) and a CV/resume which is technically also a part of your job application. In general I would recommend never to provide references before you have an offer. Once you have the offer, your future employer (or an agency on its behalf) will initiate background checks at which point you will provide references along with your consent and inform your references that they will be contacted.I would never include references on the resume or provide them to a recruitment agency on a job application form. Technically your references are making you a favour. By giving out their names their privacy will be disturbed. They will start getting headhunting calls or if you are applying to too many jobs they will get bombarded with reference check calls. You may include them on a job application if it is absolutely required by the potential employer (e.g. references are a mandatory field to submit your application online). To sum up, I think the question is not whether your should include references in your job application but rather WHEN you should provide references. The rule of thumb is that your give your references after the offer or at least after a strong indication of employment.

How important is the cover letter when applying for MBB (McKinsey, BCG, Bain)?

Compared to the resume, it’s not. However, as mentioned already, a bad cover letter will disqualify you, while a good one won’t necessarily separate you. MBB offices have even begun making the cover letter optional in some cases. My advice? Write an incredible cover letter, even if it’s not required. Is it okay to fill out a job application and put "see resume" if you already covered that?

All the other answers you have gotten are dead on. Perhaps it will help if you understand *why* employers require this. It isn't that they are lazy. Your resume is, in no way, a binding document, and it only includes what you have decided to share. A job application, in contrast, 1) covers everything they need to know, and 2) is a legally binding document. You know that part at the end where you sign the statement that all the info you have shared is complete and accurate to the best of your knowledge? Employers need that because they can be held liable for negligent hiring decisions... for example, if they simply accepted everything your resume says at face value. Anyway, I hope this makes sense and makes it seem less redundant for you to have to fill out the application!

Stating reference number in applying a job?

Feeling hopeless :( Will I ever find a job?

I know exactly how you feel; I've applied to 20 businesses and searched for almost four months now, and still have not gotten a job. It seems like no matter what you do you don't get a call back, but that's the economy for you. The only suggestion I could make is to keep calling the businesses every other week to follow up on your application and to inquire if there have been any openings. Also, include a resume and cover letter with your application. This helps make you stand out from the other applicants and shows you take extra effort.
And about the experience: How will you get experience if nobody will let you get your foot in the door? Your parents should know this, and if not, sit down and have a calm conversation with them, stating that you're doing everything you can and the reason that you're not getting a job is because of a lack of experience.

Don't give up! You will eventually find a job; it just takes time. I know it's frustrating, but as long as you're doing everything you can, then you are fine. In the mean time, I would suggest volunteering for experience and doing odd jobs such as mowing lawns, babysitting, washing cars, pet sitting, etc. to earn extra money and experience.

Hope I helped, best of luck, and don't give up! :]

Should I even bother spending the time to write a cover letter for Google if I'm applying through the job website?

No.Nobody reads cover letters at Google. As far as I recall, often the cover letter doesn't get given to your interviewers (though I think it would go to the hiring committee, but I doubt they'd read it). The recruiter may read it, but if they are already in contact with you, they likely don't need it.This is a pity, because writing skills are very useful, and a cover letter is a good way to demonstrate them.
