If Karl Malone Had At Least One Ring Would He Be Considered The Greatest Pf Ever

Why is Michael Jordan considered the greatest of all-time?

He wasn't.

Just bunch of kids who watched "Space Jam" 500 times think so.

If he's the greatest, how come in 5 seasons without Pippen:

.430 winning%
0 Playoff series wins
1 Playoff game win
Swept out of 1st round of playoffs 2 of 3 times
Missed playoffs 2 seasons
0 MVPs
0 Championships
0 All Defense
0 Defensive player of the year

How do you remember Karl Malone's NBA career?

I saw Malone over his entire career. I most remember him from his two finals series with the Chicago Bulls.1. He is an all time great, one of the top 20 NBA players. Right now I have him tied for 16th with Bob Pettit, one behind Dr. J.2. Karl is one of the greatest all time power forwards. With Duncan first, I have Malone and Pettit tied for 2nd. Karl and Bob have certain similarities. Both were 6-9; Malone was more powerfully built with about 20 more pounds. Pettit came late to weight lifting. He was 6-9, 245, while Malone was 6-9, 265. In a later time, Pettit would have been 15 pounds heavier.3. Malone is distinguished with his 2 regular season MVPs. Pettit also won two MVPs.4. Pettit won one championship and was in the finals 4 times with Boston. I forget if he also okayed once against the SF Warriors in the finals.5. Karl had outstanding skills as a PF. He was a great scorer, and efficient shooter, a good rebounder, good passer, and good defender. Petit was a slightly better scorer, less efficient shooter, much better rebounder, but not as good as Malone in passing or defense. No one was tougher than Pettit.6. Malone worked especially well with Stockton. He was usually a tough defensive matchup with the opponent’s PF. Against the Bulls in the finals, the Bulls sometimes put the bigger center Luc Longley to match against Malone.7. There is some question of whether Malone was a dirty player. There were a couple of indications he might have been a bully against smaller players. His supposedly unintentional take-down of Isaiah Thomas is the only incident I recall. I don’t know whether this concern is valid.

Will Kobe Bryant ever be considered one of the five best NBA players ever?

Your question is missing something very key to the answer; by who? I’m a huge Kobe fan, to qualify that my dog is named Kobe and my girlfriend’s name is Vanessa (for those that don’t know Kobe’s wife is named Vanessa). Didn’t plan it that way it just happened. The best part about that is my dog is now more her dog than mine (traitor). This question kind of is like asking for an answer from the imaginary “they” (the unnamed individuals that decide everything and render opinions that are accepted as fact). I can only say and have said that in one poll I read where the top 32 NBA players of all time were ranked Kobe was listed as #6 in the middle of 5 Lakers greats:#3 Kareem Abdul-Jabber#4 Magic Johnson#5 Wilt Chamberlain#6 Kobe Bryant#7 Shaquille O’NealIf you are interested and can’t figure it out #2 Lebron James and #1 Michael Jordan.Magic was quoted as saying Kobe is the best Lakers player of all time. Kobe upon hearing that immediately refuted it saying Magic had that honor. I think when looking at that list the top five are solid. When I pick my starting top 5 of all time I have this:Magic Johnson (just imagine what his stats would have been had he not contracted HIV and was forced to retire early)Michael Jordan (no question here and this is the position Kobe would be considered for)Lebron James (again no question here, sorry Boston & Larry Bird fans as great as he was)Tim Duncan (many people would argue that Karl Malone should be because he is the ultimate Power Forward physically but he doesn’t make the top 10 in the ranking of the top 32 and he has 0 rings to Tim’s 5. As a side note, Tim and Kobe came into the league at the same time).Kareem Abdul-Jabber (many people would argue that Wilt was the best but he did not put up numbers anywhere close to what the Captain did. He also never beat Boston and the Captain did and I know many people put the Captain in the consideration for the G.O.A.T. which is generally conceded to MJ)As much as I consider Kobe my favorite player of all time and as great as he was I just cannot in all honesty see how he breaks into the top 5 spots.

Why didn't Allen Iverson win a ring?

For the purpose of answering this question, i am going to talk about the 2000–01 NBA season Allen Iverson of the Philadephia 76ers since this was his greatest season of time( prime season) where he won the MVP, Scoring Title with 31.1pts , NBA Steals title with 2.5steals per game and dropped 45pts in Game 1 of that season Finals against Lakers led by Kobe Bryant & Shaquille Oneal.Allen Iverson was unguardably quick and dangerous but in team-sport like basketball(worse talk about the NBA) it takes more than that, you need a supporting cast to attack and defend as a “unit”. Personally looking at why “The Answer - Little Bigman” never got any ring, i would point out a few reasons below;he never had a really good supporting cast even at least just one to compliment him either on defense or on offense. Some of you might be wondering what of Dikembe Mutombo & Eric Snow(mind you, these were the only two guys on that roster with NBA Finals experience). for starters Mutombo was nowhere near contesting/matching up against prime-Shaquille Oneal and Eric Snow was very inconsistent and couldn`t neither Kobe or at least Derrick Fisher let alone Robert Horry, so already we see that was a handcap match..lolnaturally he just wasn`t good a leader.period.His ego and celebrity status eluded him and it superseded team-first-spirit, he became a ball hog, clogging up plays and the whole system.his work ethic was very poor especially in terms of attempting practice or coming late, or even not following game-plans according to the coach`s designed plays.in later seasons, whenever his coaches especially Larry Brown wanted to hand him a new role for example coming off the bench he would refuse or perform badly as a way of protesting(didn't want to accept the role of coming off the bench).generally his life outside basketball always had a grip on him somehow.he later had a chance to revive his championship hopes when played alongside Carmelo Anthony and Kenyon Martin in Denver Nuggets, he was still a legit scorer but i guess the issue of “lack of chemistry” somehow played role in their failures.they managed to grab the 6th seed wins but were swept in the playoffs first round by San Antonio Spurs.

If Kareem is the leading point scorer of all time why isn't he talked about as much as Jordan?

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Karl Malone are the top two all-time leading point scorers in NBA history but I just feel like Jordan (because of his championships, clothing brand and media hype) is put way above those two and regarded as the best basketball player ever. When in actual fact Kareem and Malone were just as successful. Also, Magic Johnson, he did win championships true but 11.2 assists per game is phenominal. Do you think they deserve a bit more credit. I understand they are older aswell and Jordan is much more recent and they also played 400+ more games and Jordan averaged 30ppg but still...Could you please elaborate.

Tim Duncan or Karl Malone?

Tim Duncan

He's better rebounder, shot blocker, post scorer and much better defender. His resume is terrific too

-4x NBA Championships
-3x Finals MVP
-2x MVP

And his Finals Performance are way better then Malone. In his prime in 2003 he led the Spurs to a championship and had fantastic series with 22,1 ppg,17,2 rpg,5,6 bpg

Plus Duncan didn't had one Stockhon with him and has way better IQ.He's a Top 10 player of all time too

#1 Blazers fan™(MJ=Best)

Is Karl Malone a top ten all time player?

I would say no.My personal Top 10 at this point:Michael JordanLebron JamesKareem Abdul JabbarBill RussellWilt ChamberlainTim DuncanHakeem OlajuwonShaquille O’NealMagic JohnsonLarry BirdObjectively speaking, it’s hard to justify Karl Malone ahead of any one of these 10 players. I believe the bulk of these players are universally recognized as the best players in the league.I wouldn’t start consider Malone until perhaps past Top 12–13. Once you’re outside the Top 12–13 players in NBA history, the merits and ranking of the players varies quite a bit, depending on who is doing the ranking. The argument is a lot more subjective and you could argue for Malone’s position at pretty much any point.Personally, while he isn’t a Top 10 player, I’d argue he’s probably deserving as a Top 25 player.

Who would you put in a starting five lineup of retired NBA legends that never won a ring?

So let’s see….PG: John StocktonStarting your team with Stockton as your point guard is always a great starting options. You already know that your team will be a full of stars, so you need a great distributor, and there is a possibility there is non better then Stockton ever to do the job. I am planing to put Wilkins in SF position, so get ready for Lob city 2.0.SG: Allen IversonAlthough my backcourt would be possible two small we will find a way to compensate with offensive firepower. Stockton is better catch and shooter then people think, so I wouldn’t have problems if Iverson takes the ball in his hands. Steals will come in bunches for my backcourt, And I will have a perfect mentor for Iverson so he would achieve his FULL POTENTIAL..SF: Dominique Wilkins:Mister Human Highlight Film is ready to take some action again. Probably the best in game dunker plus a guy who was scoring 26 points in his season when he was 34 years of age. Athletic and high flying, with solid defensive characteristics he is the right guy for the spot.PF: Sir Charles BarkleyRound Mound of Rebound with his special rebounding skills makes a perfect fit for my team since we have a size small backcourt. Even when you think of it Barkley wasn’t very high but he still would be best rebounder on the floor without Chamberlain. Barkley, probably the best player never to win it, and best player who truly didn’t put enough of himself in the game of basketball. He would complement our fast space, and give our team a different type of trash talk swagger.C- Patrick EwingFor a moment I thought to pick Mutombo, so he would be a much needed defensive presence for this unit, but there is too much of a difference in other skills between Ewing and Mutombo. With Ewing we get back to basket kind of player, who had very solid hook shot that many people forget about, plus rebounding and blocks on a divine level(career stats 9,8 reb and 2,5 blocks). Even as a center he never had problems with FT, so that is a big plus at center position.First Unit: Stockton, Iverson, Wilkins, Barkley and EwingSecond Unit: Penny Hardaway, Mitch Richmond, Latrell Sprewell, Chris Webber and Dikembe MutomboI have decided that it’s immoral to place Karl Malone and Reggie Miller on the bench so I took some other guys.So Warriors forget about your new titles, the next one is for my new team
