What should you do when you drop your phone in water?

Yesterday my mobile (Moto G2 ) fell into full bucket of hot water. This question aroused after this happened to me and now I’m writing this answer through my mobile only! (which is working in same condition it was before ) . so how did happened !!. So ,if your mobile fall into water , first thing first , immediately switch it off .if you can take its battery out, so do so ,otherwise in my case , I wasn’t able to take the battery out so switch it off immediately as the water penetrated into the phone can short-circuit the component if the phone is on and current is flowing inside it .now place your phone into a drying agent , the most common drying agent (soaking agent ) available with all of us is dry rice or uncooked rice . place your mobile covered into rice for 24 or more hours as dry rice are good absorbing agents as they absorb whatever moisture left inside your phone . You can also use silica gel to dry your phone .Precaution - never blow dry your phone with blow dryer or heater as they can fry components of your phone . Don’t do such silly mistake .After 24 or more Hrs you can switch on your phone and I’am definitely sure you can use your phone as it was before .Why your phone is not working after all this - this is because your phone was in water for more time ,this let the water penetrated deep into the phone; it was not possible to absorb the moisture after all this remedy also. What should you do even if your phone is not working now also - immediately rush to the nearest mobile service store :)#underoot41

Dropped phone into water, now screen won't work. Help?

My phone got dropped into water for only a second or two- I rescued it quickly- and I took the battery and SIM card out and let it air dry. Now it's been a few days and when I put the card and battery in and turn it on, the screen and buttons light up white, but no images appear on screen. The start-up music tones are choppy.

Have I ruined my phone forever?? I just got it maybe a month ago and I feel terrible for ruining it so quickly... just my luck! Anyway, any info you have will be greatly appreciated!!!!

I dropped my phone in a bucket of water, now the screen is black. HOW DO I FIX THIS?? 10 POINTS!?

(1) IMMEDIATELY REMOVE THE BATTERY. VERY VERY IMPORTANT!
(2) As soon as possible (preferably within 20-30 minutes). dissassemble the phone using Torx T6 screwdriver. (Get this off eBay or service depots, etc) Make an emergency trip to Sears/RadioShack/ACE/service depot/etc.
(3) Clean/dry as much as you can, using Q-Tips
(4) Dry the electronics components under a desk lamp on a paper towel for 24 hours.
(5) Use a blow dryer, set on warm. Blow dry the phone. Make sure your battery and sim card are out of the phone.
(6) Put your phone in rice for 24 hours w/ battery and sim out
(7) You can also leave the battery and sim out. Leave your phone out in the sun. Let it dry.
(8) Reassemble the phone
(9) Put back together
(10) Only now it's safe to put the battery back in.

If those steps do not work you can try a new battery in your phone. That most likely will get the phone working properly again.

How long should I soak my phone in rice?

Water can short your phone, the longer the phone is on when wet the greater the chance that damage will be done.

If your phone gets wet,
take phone out of water as fast as you can,
turn phone off
take out battery
take out sim card if it comes with one.
take out memory card, etc
maybe use a vacuum but avoid a blow drier that would blow the water further in.
use rice or other materiel to "suck" out the water from the air in the phone.
rotate the phone in the bag,
keep phone in the bag for at least 24 hours, longer if you think there is more moisture in the phone.. DON'T turn the phone on until ALL the water is out

the water behind the screen will be soaked up

when you get your phone wet there is a good chance that the strip in the phone that will change colour and void your warranty.
