If My Previous Workplace Refuse To Pay Me For My Last Week Of Work There What Can I Do

Can you refuse to translate in the workplace?

I work as a cashier at a certain electronics store in Las Vegas. We have to stay on our register in order to make money (we get paid 7.55/hr plus .17% of our sales). Many times, some of us who speak other languages (mostly Spanish), are asked to go to other departments and translate for a sales person or we are asked to translate for another cashier. After a while, some of us have gotten frustrated with this mostly because we are losing our own money doing this several times a day or because the cashier or salesperson we are translating for don't even make an effort to communicate with the customer on their own. Can I refuse to translate without being insubordinate? I never refused to translate when a supervisor asked me to but I did let them know that I was getting tired of it. Our manager had to speak with several of us, Spanish speakers, regarding this. In his own words, "If you ever refuse to translate again when a supervisor asks you to, this is called insubordination and you WILL get fired for it." Are there work laws that pertain to this?

Is it acceptable for HR to ask for payslips from your previous employer so that they can base your new salary off your previous pay?

Yes, it is acceptable and common practice. But it is completely up to you whether you share them or not.I personally have not discarded any candidate for not sharing payslips. When asking for payslips, The HR Team wants to make sure that:(1) You are within the salary range of the position. If your current salary, or your current salary plus the salary increase needed to make you an attractive offer, is higher than the maximum pay for the position, then HR has two options:(1.1) Discard you as a candidate (HR could reach out to you later when a more senior position is open)(1.2) Change the seniority of the position (e.g. from Manager to Senior Manager) and make you an offer with the new seniority(2) You receive an attractive offer. Some companies, when extending an offer, also show you a compensation analysis with a comparison between your current compensation package and the one they are offering you. This analysis includes not only salary, but also all benefits (cash and non cash), and it is broken down also by monthly and annual compensation. This helps you as a candidate understand what the company is really offering you vs. what you already have, and helps you make a decision.Several considerations:(A) In order to make an attractive offer, HR needs to understand your entire current compensation package, therefore HR will ask not only for salary but also for all benefits you are currently receiving (e.g. bonus, stock options, company car, etc…)(B) One might see the fact that HR requires evidence of salary (i.e. payslips) as if HR did not trust you. But in reality, HR just wants to make sure they understand perfectly your compensation. You would be surprised to know how many people do not know their actual salary and benefits. Sometimes they only know how much they get deposited in the bank (i.e. net salary), but HR needs to know your gross salary, and all your benefits (cash and non cash).Of course, it is up to you whether you want to share your payslips or not, but you risk that HR makes you an offer that it is not so attractive. In any case, if you do not want to share any payslips or any other documentation with HR, I would recommend you to simply let them know your desired salary, and expected benefits.I hope this helps.

Should Pagans/Wiccans be refused a day off work?

Most of you are missing the point. Actually a FEW points. First its our Constitutional right to enjoy our religion "AS IT IS". As a USArmy vet, I took an oath to defend that Constitution. I gave that oath to the Christian God, on the Christian Bible. I still consider that oath BINDING.Iif I can honor their God, They can dammm well HONOR mine.

Second, just in case ALL YOU GOOD PAGANS forgot, BELTANE WAS A SATURDAY THIS YEAR. Last time I checked, Saturday is a WEEKEND. If the Christians dont have to move CHRISTMAS every year, I sure as hell aint gonna move my holidays to satisfy some jerk of a boss.

Third, The USGovernment, the VA, and the New jersey school system wave ALL conceded that Wicca is really a valid religion. The USGovt has added Pagan Clergy to the military. Many jails now have Pagan "Charlies"....thats a CHAPLAIN. A US military base has just added a new Pagan Chapel. The VA has added the Pentacle to Sgt Pat Stewarts memorial and the list of "APPROVED SYMBOLS". The NJ school system has added 8 Wiccan/Pagan holidays to their "approved list".

Tell that idiot to "get with the times"....then sue him for RELIGOUS DISCRIMINATION. In some areas that can be classified as a "HATE CRIME", punishable by PRISON.

Can my boss refuse to pay me?

I worked at a small business for only three weeks. I was fired for not coming into work on day I was never scheduled for. It was up in the air as to wether I would take on some days for another employee. Nothing was finalized or even written down and he decided to fire me for not showing up on one of the days only previously discussed. That aside I went in to pick up my last check that would would be a small amount but one I really need and my ex-boss told me was choosing not to pay me. I pressed for a reason but he just said he already talked to an attorney if I want to persue it. I dont undertand him treating me so poorly, it has become a nightmare. I appreciate any help or info.

Can an employer refuse to give you a copy of your W2 form?

Your employer is required to mail or otherwise deliver to you the required number of copies (two, three, or four, depending on where you live and work) of Form W-2 not later than January 31 of each year in which you had wage income from that employer, unless you have previously consented to receive such forms electronically and have not withdrawn that consent. An employer may request an extension for cause from the IRS for up to 30 days, but the IRS does not often grant these. An employer is not required to give you additional copies past the first if you lose the copy they sent you, or if you never received it, although most will. If your employer refuses to give you a second copy, or you are unable to contact your employer, you can request a substitute copy from the IRS any time after February 14th of the year in which the W-2 was required to be provided. Employers must also file a copy of the W-2 they give you with the IRS, and therefore the IRS will have a copy (unless the employer failed to file it, which is something the IRS will investigate). The IRS will contact your employer regarding your missing form, which might result in your employer sending you the form. If you still don’t get a W-2, you can still file your return without the W-2 by using Form 4852 as a substitute for the missing W-2.See Missing Form W-2? IRS Can Help for more information.

Pizza Hut refuses to send W-2 & paycheck?

First Pizza Hut is a franchise, contact the headquarters and see if they can't help you. They generally don't like negative publicity. Tell them you may need to file a complaint with the Washington State Department of Labor if they don't help you resolve it. If they don't help, file the complaint.

By law Pizza Hut has to send you a W-2 by Jan 31 2008 for hours worked in 2007 if you have provided a forwarding address. If they do not, file a complaint with the IRS. Call the IRS and they will tell you what information you need to to send.

My company refused to give experience letter. What should I do?

Most of the companies do not give experience letter for a tenure of less than 6 months, and yes training period or probation period is not counted as work experience. Please understand if you were under training during your probation period the company was investing in you and you were not a productive resource for the company. And hence it is not counted as experience, it was the learning. Now to answer your question, to your future employer you can show the salary slips and the resignation letter that you have sent to your current employer. Most of the companies accept these as the authentic document to prove your tenure with a company which is not giving out a relieving letter or an experience letter.Good luck.
