If Some Other Country Were Doing All The Things America Does From Afghanistan To Okinawa- Would

I am going to be doing Artillery for the Marines after boot camp, so where will they station me?

After you attend MCT you will go to Fort Sill, Oklahoma for your MOS training. After that
There are 4 places you can be station with Artillery in the Marine Corps
Camp Lejeune
Camp Pendleton
29 Palms
and
MCBH. Kanehoe Bay Hawaii.

As Artillery you WILL NOT be permantly stationed in Okinawa.
There is one Artillery battalion in Okinawa.
That is 3rd Battalion 12TH Marines. How ever that unit is put together by the UDP (Unit Deployment Program) meaning that every 7 months a new Artillery battery deployes to Okinawa from the states to operate as part of 3/12.

So no matter where you get stationed at there is a chance that you may spend at least 7 months in Okinawa.

How did American turn a 'blind eye' to other problems in the world because of their fear/hatred to communism?

During the early 1970s I knew a man named Al who worked in the Montgomery Ward store selling lawn mowers. Al was a WWII veteran of Iwo and Okinawa. He hated Communists.

"If the Communists were in power they'd take my house if I owned one." That was the depth of his thinking on the subject and he was more-or-less typical of Amaricans of the time in that regard.

Al had a lot of problems he could have been worried about, doing things about, including alcohol, but Communism was big on his list of concerns.

How late does a Marine have to be to be considered UA (Unauthorized Absence).?

I had to write a counseling for one of my Marines because he was about 3 minutes late to a PT (Physical Training) formation.

I wrote the counseling and wrote that he was in violation of article 92 (Derelection of Duty) for disobeying a lawful order of being in formation at the specified time. However, my Master Sergeant said that he was not in violation of article 92, but of article 86 (Unauthorized Absence).

There has been several debates that a Marine is considered UA after 15 minutes of being late, and considered a deserter after 30 days of being UA. Other people think that you can be considered UA if you are late by even a second. Can someone please help me find out the answer to this. I want to make sure that I am doing the correct thing, if my Master Sergeant is wrong, I would like to prove it to him with official Marine Corps document, like the article itself from a reliable source. But if he's correct, then I'll just continue on with the counseling. I have not have any luck finding the official website on where to find this. If you manage to know the answer, a good reliable source would be even more appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Military deployments--can my wife come along?

Spouses cannot come along on deployments. Deployments are tours in combat zones. Now, most people think of Iraq and Afghanistan, but there are deployments to many places throughout the globe with many different cultures. So the language you speak is likely used in one of those combat zones. However, if you are stationed outside of the contiguous United States, and not in what is considered a combat zone, you are usually allowed to take your spouse with accompaniment orders. Places like Korea have finally started allowing spouses to come along, but it still takes a command referral and a voluntary extension from one year in Korea to two years. Whenever you join the military, you will undoubtedly have to spend some time away from your family and loved ones.

As for what factors contribute to your duty assignment, there are a lot. Your MOS is one that has the opportunity to be assigned to many strategic level duty stations, so there is a much wider array of places for you to be sent. The language you speak is one of the biggest factors in where you will be sent. If you speak Spanish, you will likely be used somewhere on our border. But, you may also be deployed to South America from time to time. So, just be mindful of this before you make your decision. For the record though, I've worked with a few crypto guys, and they are generally very happy with their job and the opportunities they have once they get out.
