How can a person tell if their nose is broken?
If a person has broken their nose there are a few tell tale signs. 1.The nose usually has a distinct scar running across it. 2.The nose can be twisted to one side. and 3.Sometimes the nose can recede in on itself and become a button nose. I hope this helps. I broke my nose when I was eight and where the bone broke have a scar and when it came out of the bandages it had formed into a button nose.
Can i sue someone who broke my nose in a fight that i started ?
You have a cause action against him, but the are obstacles that might make it difficult to prevail. The best causes of action are for assualt and battery. Assault is the defined as the intent to cause the apprehension of harmfully or offense touching in another, and an affirmative act which does so. Battery is defined as the intent to cause the harmful or offensive touching of another, and an affirmative act with does so. Here, you intended to hit him, which would both cause apprehesion of contact and harmfull and offensive contact. So you likely committed both battery and assualt. He, however, has several defenses. First, he will assert that he had a right to defend himself from your attack. The right of self defense, however, must be use in a reasonable manner, so the force he used had to be reasonable. This comes down to the facts, and you would need to so the used force was not reasonable. The fact that he hit you hard enough cauuse you to need an operation, goes to it not being reasonable, the fact that you punched him in the fact first, would go toward that it was reasonable to respond in kind. He could also assert that you consented to the conduct, in that you started a fist fight, by hitting him, and in doing so, you must have known that he would have hit you back. Hitting someone in the mouth the way you did in the situtation you describe, might well be viewed as an invitation to start to fight. You can also assert that your initial conduct was acceptable, because of him "trashing" you. I'm not sure what that entaile, but the theory would be that you were using reasonable force to prevent him from hurting or annoying you, and therefore, he was not entitled to hit you back. You may get somewhere with this, depending what he was doing. If he was only talking loudly to you and no making any threating gestures, then you'll almost certainly lose, since words alone are almost never cause enough to give rise to a fight. There's some change to win, but it doesn't look good for you. I'd dicuss the matter with him, and try to workout some form of sharing of the costs.
How do i know if my 2 year old broke their nose?
It doesn`t sound like your baby broke her nose. Usually, and this is experience speaking, when you break your nose there is a lot of blood from the nostrils. The bump on the forehead however could result in a concussion, so be careful there. The symptoms are acting confused, not thinking straight, being drowsy, hard to wake up, headache, temporary loss of consciousness, nausea or vomiting, slurred speech and a few more. They may come on immediately, but can also be delayed, so watch her closely and if she shows any symptoms take to an ER. I hope this helps and that she feels better soon.

If your nose gets hit and bleeds is it broken?
how long afterwards was it sore, 15-20 minutes? thats understandable. If it was still sore say 4 hours after it was either a really good whack, or something might be wrong. Try thinking back to when it happened, was there a noise also look in the mirror and is there swelling or does it look out of line is there a bump or lump that wasn't there before. If it is different to before i would probably go get it checked out. the nosebleed is fairly normal and is not purely an indicator of a broken nose. my brother and i get them every now and then and his nose is so sensitive that I'm pretty sure if you hit him in the face with a pillow it would bleed. Good luck
Is a broken nose really as common in boxing as people make it out to be?
Broken noses are common. I boxed amatuer for 7 years (Yes I'm a girl, and yes I was good.) Boxing will change your face. The people who are telling you that you'll break your nose don't know the whole sport. Is there a chance you could break your nose, of course. But even if you don't break your nose, your face can change. I say CAN, not WILL. Depends on how much you do it, how often you compete, how good your guard is, etc. I boxed for 7 years, went to the Golden Gloves and National comps. I had 37 fights, with 11 losses. Broke my nose twice (Once sparring, once in competition.) You would never know it though. I still have my pointy little elf like nose. I got my ocular bone broken in 2 places. (The bone that your eye ball is enclosed in.) My right eye is alittle droopy now, but most people don't notice it. I just look sleepy. I got my jaw broken, and all you can tell from that is I have a slight underbite now, because it was in the joint, and shifted my bite. I knuckles are flat from breaking them. I also dislocated my shoulder (which is why I quit.) and I have this odd, little, harmless bump on it that I never had before. What I'm trying to say is, there is a risk in everything. I have more injuries then that, but you would never be able to tell. But my friend, he played soccer (safe sport right?) and got kicked in the face by accident, now he has a huge harry potter looking scar on his forehead!! And people warned me about boxing!! It may happen, it may not. Look at Floyd Mayweather, he's fought over 30 pro fights, and more in the amatuers, and he is still very good looking! If you love boxing, then do it!!! Life is to short to worry about those things. I heard all the same things and more, especially since I'm a girl, but I did it anyways, and even though my jaw pops loud enough for everyone to hear when I openmy mouth, and my eye is alittle droopy, I wouldnt take it back for anything!!!
How likely is it that if i punch someone in the nose, i'll break their nose?
Actually, violence is the answer, tough guy. If I was there, I would punch you in the nose and show you how to properly break someones nose. But, I am not there so I am just going to have to explain it to you. You want to get a roll of quarters and grab it tightly before you punch him. Yes, this is a cheap move but it will triple the force during the impact of your punch. Remember not to tuck your thumb in. I knew one dipshit the punched me in the face and broke his own thumb because he tucked it in when he punched. Don't worry, I beat the living **** out of him and his girlfriend and not necessarily in that order. Anyways, punch him from one side of the nose at a side ways angle inward. Kinda punch him at a horizontal diagonal. This will gain you momentum and bust that nose right in half. Then, assuming you dont knock him out, kick him in the nuts. There ya go champ!
