Will a reply to a suspicious email get my account hacked?

If you do reply to it it can get a lot more things done than just “hacking” your account. You can lose a lot of your personal information and everything that goes with that. Here are some useful tips on how to avoid that and how to recognize fraud emails.1. If you didn’t request it, don’t click it!This is the golden rule. If you didn’t request something from a person or company, there’s no reason for them to email you instructions or, worse, attached files. So unless you’ve specifically asked your bank for information, you shouldn’t expect a “bank manager” to be contacting you.2. Suspicious email? Look for the text on Google.Mails related to scams and malware tend to use the same texts, sometimes with tiny changes. Keep an eye out for:Nonsensical phrases, bad spelling and strange words stemming from automatic translations – like “With due respect to your person and much sincerity of purpose I make this contact mail with you”Badly-placed or low-quality images. No personal references: these emails don’t usually address you by name (Dear Beneficiary)A sense of urgency. These emails are always alarmist, appealing to your most basic sense – fear. The often mention terrible consequences, fines and charges.Copy and paste the email into a search engine and take a good look at the results. It will be clear if the words come from a well-known scam. For more tips and info on this topic go here - How to recognize suspicious emails

How do I auto refresh my yahoo e-mail so I will not have to do it manually?

Yahoo! does not offer the refresh you speak of. However, you do have the option to receive mail alerts. I found this in the help pages:

Q: Can I receive alerts when I get new mail?

A: Yes, there are a number of ways to automatically receive alerts when new messages arrives in your Yahoo! Mail account.

Yahoo! Messenger
Yahoo! Messenger is a free software product that allows you receive new mail alerts no matter where you are on the Internet. To learn more about Messenger or download the latest version, visit the Yahoo! Messenger home page.

Yahoo! Toolbar
Yahoo! Toolbar is a free, personalized toolbar you can add to your browser. It will alert you of new messages received in your Yahoo! Mail account. To learn more or download the Toolbar, visit the Yahoo! Toolbar home page.

My Yahoo!
If you use My Yahoo!, you can receive new mail alerts right on your My Yahoo! front page. You must use the same Yahoo! ID to log into My Yahoo! as you use to log into Yahoo! Mail. If you have separate My Yahoo! and Yahoo! Mail IDs, you won't be able to be notified in My Yahoo! when mail arrives.

Please note: The above alerts work only in connection with your Yahoo! Mail account and not in connection with any other email accounts you may have. Also, you can be alerted of new messages only in one Yahoo! Mail account at a time. This means that if you use more than one account, you won't be able to receive alerts for all of them at once.

Is there a way I can change my email and when someone tries to email me it sends them a notice of my email change?

As long as you (or no one else) shuts down your “old” email, you can leave a semi-permanent message that you can no longer be reached at this “old” email but can be reached at Joe@Aasdfghj.net. It’s no different than leaving an out of office message, “on vacation until August 1.”It really depends if you are speaking about a corporate email, where you typically get kicked off the day you leave. So if there are important contact you want to keep because you have a relationship outside of work, WRITE, do not copy and paste these names, numbers, and emails and give them a heads up you are moving on.There are ways to create a condensed record if your email client is Outlook creating an OST. An OST file (.ost) is an offline folder file in Microsoft Outlook. Offline folders make it possible for the user to work offline and then to synchronize changes with the Exchange server the next time they connect. The ability to work offline is useful in environments with limited or unreliable connectivity. But know that if you are using a company computer on a company network, it could be considered theft of proprietary and confidential information. That can get expensive with attorneys and such.Hope that helps.E.

How do I change my last name on my email account?

You need to change your "From" and that will fix your problem.
1. Click Options in the upper-right corner of your Mail page and select Mail Options.
2. From the list on the left, click Accounts.
3. Click Add or edit an account – it’s toward the middle of the page.
4. In the box on the left, click Yahoo! Mail.
5. Click Edit.
6. In the "From name:" box, enter your name how you'd like it to appear in the "From:" line of your outgoing messages. Example: "Sally Tiptoes." This is the name people will see in their Inboxes for messages from you.
7. You can leave the "Reply to:" field blank, so your Yahoo! Mail address is automatically the return address when others reply to you. Or, you can specify a different return address by entering it after "Reply to:".
8. Click Save to put your new settings into effect.
Note: The "From name" field can't contain special characters like the "@" symbol. And, the address in "Reply to:" can't exceed 40 characters.

How do you stop Outlook from replying to myself on reply all?

I'm using Outlook 2010 on an Exchange 2010 environment, and I just ran into this problem.  It started today, conincidentally when my primary email address changed on the server.  I discovered that if my email address used in the actual email differs from what is in the Account preference, then it would include me in the Reply All.  Once I updated the email address in there, the problem went away.  If you have more than one email account, you may want to be sure to uncheck "Reply and forward using the default e-mail account" in the Composing preference screen.  Good luck!
