If Someone Is Delusional And Violent In The House And Then Makes The Other Person Look Like The Bad

How do you deal with someone with undiagnosed delusional schizophrenia?

Just imagine the suffering this person is experiencing.  When it's your friend or a family member, you are placed in a very difficult position.I used to work with in a community agency that provided support to about 60 men and women with (mostly) schizophrenia.  In a professional role it is arguably easier to set boundaries and respond to conspiracy theories in a respectful but blunt manner.Chances are this person will cross you off his friendship list sooner or later for something that you did or didn't do. So maybe you could try being really open, honest and respectful and give him some direct feedback about his behaviour while emphasizing your concern for him.Realistically, he will deny everything you say but there may be a part of his being that does know that something is wrong. If he has some insight, then he may concede that something in his perception of reality is amiss. There are probably different perspectives about how to deal with him but I contend that there is no one way. Most mental health professionals are dealing with people who have been diagnosed whereas your friend has yet to enter the psychiatric system (for better and worse). So you are left unsupported attempting to work out how to maintain a connection with someone who is in great personal distress. All I can offer is: do not tolerate bad behaviour, don't engage with conspiracy theories and be honest with him about how you feel in relation to him.All the best and look after yourself.

How do you convince a loved one who has a delusional disorder to seek help?

> How do you convince a loved one who has a delusional disorder to seek help? This is a terribly difficult situation. By definition, delusional people hold deep convictions about factually incorrect beliefs. Some people with delusions are paranoid, and believe that various agencies or people are ‘out to get them’.People with paranoid delusions lack insight and are deeply suspicious. Generally, these folks are extremely resistant to ‘receiving help’Other delusional people believe they are god-like or have special powers. People with these ‘delusions of grandeur’ believe they are enlightened and have a special message to spread to others. They, too, are almost aleays deeply resistant to ‘help’, as they do not identify as ill.In my professional experience, it is virtually impossible to convince a delusional person to seek help voluntarily.Although some families try to ‘trick’ the person into seeking help or taking medication, I don’t support these types of interventions.Usually, people suffering from delusions are involuntarily committed ( by family, therapists, or police) to a psychiatric unit where they receive anti-psychotic medication and appropriate mental health treatment.Once the psychotic delusion abates, folks may be more amenable to treatment and may re-gain insight and reality testingInvoluntary commitment can be quite upsetting for all involved. However, it’s very frequently the only route to get a delusional person the help they need and deserve.Delusional people can and do become violent and may require a police escort to the hospital. If you or a loved one is in crisis, please contact 911 (in the states) or present at your local emergency room. How to Help Someone With Schizophrenia Get TreatmentAssisted and Involuntary Treatment for SchizophreniaThis answer does not substitute for consultation with a licensed healthcare provider. What makes someone become obsessed and become a stalker? Why is it frowned upon, and is it a product of culture or evolution?

I am not an expert on stalking, having never perpetrated nor been a victim of this type of behavior.Nor am I a mental health expert. That said, I was asked to answer and will do so to the best of my ability.Stalking appears to be a form of compulsive behavior in which one person forms an one sided attachment to another. This is not necessarily an extreme form of infatuation. Although, this is a common trigger.Stalking is strongly associated with a number of psychological disorders. Primarily, borderline personality disorder, depression, narcissistic personality disorder, and schizophrenia. The obsessive aspect of stalking is often a manifestation of obsessive compulsive disorder.Stalking usually involves more than one disorder, which accounts for the variety of experiences recounted by victims. This can range from extremely compulsive behavior, such as obsessively tracking a person's purchases of a specific set of items to more overt displays of aggression such as vandalism and assault.Psychotic stalking is closely associated with serious mental illness. For example, some individuals may believe that they have a previous relationship with another individual on the basis of delusional or imaginary encounters. A person may also experience impaired reasoning which causes them to believe that they are privy to information about a person.Ironically, such a person may act out of a sense altruism, believing their victim to be in danger or in need of rescuing.

What Makes A Person Evil ??

As an agnostic (and intermittent atheist), it's hard to say if "evil" exists because of the religious implications. BUT the one thing that makes me question if there is evil, is the existence of serial killers. To explain:

The notion that serial killers are somehow the product of a lousy or abusive background is totally unfounded in the field of psychology. In fact, much of the evidence runs to the contrary:

Many sociopaths/serial killers come from seemingly well-adjusted home lives with parents who seem well-adjusted and these criminals often
have had a well-adjust childhood.

Even so, in the case of trauma, there are many people who endure years of severe trauma and never exhibit sociopathic behavior. So it's difficult or impossible to explain the mystery that is the darkly sadistic actions of sociopaths/serial killers.

Serial killers have no sense of sympathy or remorse for anyone and actually get a sexual charge from torturing animals and people for hours. They keep ppl's body parts as momentos.

If there's such a thing as evil, I'm willing to believe it is embodied in sociopaths / serial killers. I have worked with them professionally as a counselor and it has been interesting as well as baffling.

Whats it called (medical term) when someone makes things up and believes them constantly?

You're right.. sounds like a personality disorder. You might look up "splitting" which refers to a person or situation being perceived as "all-good" or "all-bad." You may also look up "BPD and Distortions." On BPD411.org's glossary, distortions are described in a way very closely to what you described: "Most BP’s have feelings that are not very closely related to their actual, reality based life experiences. To rationalize their behavior (which is usually unacceptable to most people) they rearrange their memories to create facts, and believe that their version of what happened is real. They literally rewrite history to fit their feelings rather than have feelings that relate to life experiences. This can border on delusional thinking."

There's a lot more to look into, though before deciding she's BPD. She could be a compulsive or pathological liar, for whom lying just becomes second nature. It may or may not be the only symptom of something bigger. There's a difference between a pathological/compulsive liar who lies to manipulate and someone who has a different perception of the truth. For the second group, their "lies" actually are what they believe to be true. The symptom is still classified as the same thing for both, but the circumstances and cause dictate what treatment to pursue and how effective, if at all, it will be.

Unfortunately, the official diagnosis is for a counselor to make, but with someone who lies all the time, that can be very difficult. It's very hard to get help for someone with a personality disorder. They have to first admit they're ill, then WANT help, and actively stick with it. It rarely happens. Good luck, and you have my best wishes!!! Do your best to keep your patience, and check out the links I've posted below.

When someone is nice one minute and can turn mean and rude the next second do you think there bi-polar?

at the start, you do ought to work out somebody- purely look at your query. every time somebody is this disenchanted, something is incorrect. What you pronounced above sounds lots like me whilst i improve into seventeen. whilst i improve into eighteen, i found out I even have paranoid schizophrenia (i'm female besides). And as to that different individual who pronounced bi-polar affliction is somewhat distinctive from schizophrenia, properly, it is not. they are oftentimes puzzled and misdiagnosed as one or the different. Bi-polar affliction can incorporate hallucinations and delusions purely as schizophrenia can incorporate temper swings. Please do not think of which you have schizophrenia. on the different hand, it is somewhat conceivable. all of us shows distinctive indications and the indications in a distinctive way. even though it is substantial to which you flow see a doctor with an open strategies- do not pre-diagnose your self. do not flow on line and look up indications of distinctive themes, although tempting it would be. purely tell a psychiatrist precisely what you wrote right here. email me in case you desire extra.

What would get someone put in a mental hospital?

It's not as easy as people think it is to get admitted into a mental health hospital. Most times the person has to willingly admit themselves before they will be admitted. If they are clearly in a delusional state and/or suicidal they might have a medical guardian or a medical POA to get them in. Most times when people go to the hospital for mental health issues the hospital will admit and keep them in their short term mental health wing of the hospital. If they see the person is making no progress and if the doctor does not recommend them to be discharged they will be transported to a long term mental health hospital (the psych hospital). There are different circumstances for different people. If the person has a developmental disability they might transport them to a long term institution. Most times they are trying to get them out rather then get them in..it's all about the money baby!!! They just want to get paid!!! If you have no insurance or state disability it's very very hard. Good Luck!!

Why are Muslims so much more violent than other religions?

Generally Muslims aren't violent, there are those who break off from mainstream Islam and create their own sects - many of these are violent. I've lived alongside them for the last 8 years and most Muslims are very passive and don't strictly practice Islam. What I have seen is that many of the other 2 main religions here, Christian denominations, incite to hatred and nationalism.

The town where I'm now living is divided by a river, one side called the 'Muslim' side and the other 'Catholic'. Interestingly the Muslims regularly go from one side to the other but the Catholics don't - they even have a program in school that completely ignores the 'other' side. Parents teach their children not to go there. Ustaše - in English Ustasha/i/e are the Croatian Revolutionary Movement (fascists), they are still very active here. The genocide that took place in the war here wasn't the end. In the street where I live there are Ustasha signs (an upside down U with a cross inside) saying 'THIS IS MY STREET DON'T WALK HERE' and 'WE SAY WHO WALKS HERE'. There is a school opposite our kingdom hall that has to have police protection every day when the morning and afternoon classes change - they are separated Muslims and Catholics. I'm neutral so I don't take any sides but the evidence is here that the "Catholic/Croatian" pupils cause the most trouble.

There is another group here who are connected to the Serbian Orthodox religion - Obraz, they are similar in their intentions as the Ustasha - they are also fascists and don't tolerate other nations so much.

These are both small groups but cause lots of problems. I just wanted to let you know that Muslims are not necessarily more violent than other religions.

EDIT - I just read your comment about doing things in the name of religion - not country

These 2 groups I've mentioned are often about religion too - not just nation. They are members who are often very active in the church. You should see the reaction here if anybody provokes the other person's religion. Not pretty.

Need help w/ my 6 yr old son, is violent, threatens to kill all of us, what do you suggest? ?

Right now your son is receiving out patient treatment. Have any of the psychiatrists suggested in-patient treatment? I know he's only 6 but it might be necessary to 'jump start' the treatment if you know what I mean.

Has he been labeled as 06 (emotionally disturbed)? He might need a level 5 program or even a level 6 program at school. If he continues to hit the kids and teachers, he will be put in a level 5 program but he needs the label first. Find out which schools in your district have a level 5 program.Level 6 programs are located in private facilities.

Abilify is a strange choice of medication for him. That is usually used for teenagers. Children don't respond well to Abilify as it can heightens their aggressive side.

I will get a lot of thumb downs for this but here it goes: Perhaps you need to focus less on school and more on his psychological well being. Remove him from school and focus on daily psychiatric treatment or send him to an in-house psychiatric facility. Talk to his psychiatrists about this. The school counselors are not allowed to make these suggestions even if they think it's best. Being held back by one year isn't the end of the world so please consider this.

If his behavior does not improve, you will be forced to make some hard and painful decisions. I'm sure you already realize this. Obviously you can not allow your son to terrorize and threaten the emotional and physical well being of his siblings. He will have to be removed from the house and placed in a group home, permanent hospital or foster care.

What is your husband's role in all of this?
