If Someone Uses Your Photo As Their Profile Picture Should You

Someone is using a photo of me as their Facebook profile picture without my permission, what should I do?

If it is a picture that was originally yours, you can report this to Facebook as a copyright violation. If you did not take the picture, this may not be successful.Otherwise you are probably stuck with “harassment” or “spam”/“fake profile”.Do you know this person? If so, just tell them you don't like it. People can't read minds, and they may have thought it’s okay. Especially if it’s a picture of the both of you.

Is it illegal to use someone else's picture (a photo of a random person you found on the internet) as your Facebook profile picture?

Yes it is. It’s a crime to use someone else’s picture as yours without their consent. This is when, the picture belongs to someone like me and you. This is a cyber crime. But if they are celebrities, they cannot sue you because their pictures are bound to be public.

Why can't I click on someone's profile picture on Facebook?

I am friends with them on Facebook (and in real life), but for some reason, I can't click on their profile picture. I can click on their other pictures and their cover photo, but why not profile picture?

Thank you.

Is it okay to use someone's art as a profile pic?

Although a lot of people do think it's bad to copy other people's work, I could say likewise but with conditions.

1. Do not claim that you made it. (This will
cause you a great deal of problems)
2. Always, in the description, put the full
link/artistname article. (Proof you don't own
it)
3. Try your best to get consent if possible.
(Worse case they've went to the other world
or simply inactive because of some
reasons. A note is fine though in-case they
"come back to life")
4. Unless the image is in a free site, you
cannot release it (like a membership needed
access site)

It's a good thing because the artist gets a promotion for his/her arts, bonus if he/she is commissioning the arts.

If the artist doesn't want it to be copied (after discovering your note at a later date) then you can apologize & remove it.

A lot of YouTube videos (like nightcore stuff) actually copy some images & just add in the link & a "thanks".

Should I put my picture on my Monster.com profile?

Sure why not, hiring practices have changed since 1980. These days social networking sites such as LinkedIn and Facebook are part of the "background" checks many companies are doing on employees and prospective hires. Although the text books say employers should not hire based on looks, the truth of the matter is people make assumptions about names as well. People who have traditionally ethinic names will get the same speculations/stereotypes as someone who posts a picture. There is no escaping it, it's part of life.

With that said, if you have a professional picture then yes upload it. The fact is that attractiveness sells. Whether we want to say that's "not fair" it's the truth of how our society works. Harvard Business Review has done countless studies on how attractive people are more successful in life. People want to talk to others who are pleasant to look at - so make sure your photo is an accurate representation of you. If you think it will work to your advantage use it. Otherwise leave it off.

A photo that can convey "trust", "reliability" and "team player" will work to your advantage. You remember the saying that "A picture is worth a thousand words."
