For work done along the x-axis to be positive, which two quadrants should force lie in?
Work is given by the force applied to an object, and the distance the object moves in that direction. For work to be positive, the force must have acted along the x-axis in the same direction. The question doesn't say in which direction the object is moving along the x-axis, but i will assume the positive direction. The desired quadrants are then where the force has a positive x-component, and are therefore the upper-right (positive x and positive y) and lower-right (positive x and negative y).
