When should I send my college transcript?

I've applied to transfer from one university to another. I've applied before the scholarship deadline, and everything is in order, except I haven't sent my transcripts to the office of admissions yet.

My problem is, the university I'm transferring to requires that you send your high school transcript and standardized test scores to the office if you have completed less than 28 credits. I would prefer to not do that, since my college transcript is very impressive and my high school transcript is kind of average. By the end of this semester, I will have completed 40 credits, so I won't need to send my high school transcript.

Is it okay to send them my transcript in December? Will my chances of admissibility take a hit for not sending my transcript to them at the same time that I submitted my application?

Can I apply to a college without my transcript?

You can start your application now and can even send in the online portion, but they won't review your application or make a decision until everything is in. Many colleges wait until after the deadline to review applications anyway, so getting it in earlier than other early decision applicants won't make a difference unless it says that admissions are done on a rolling basis.

While accidents do happen, applying to 5 schools should not be unmanageable for your counselor. Ask well in advance and then remind him/her a few weeks later and then ask again 1-2 weeks before the deadline. If the deadline comes and you see that your transcript still hasn't been sent, call the admissions office to explain that you requested transcripts several times but that your counselor is late; if everything else is in on time, they may give you a little extra time on the transcript.

In any case, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just be on top of things yourself and check with your counselor or the admissions office if you are afraid something didn't get sent.

Late College Application?

Don't worry. I have excellent college counselors and they have told me as well as my peers many times as long as you submit your application, supplements/essays, SAT/ACT scores or whatever other tests, and payment all before the deadline, it is all on the counselor to send in your transcripts on time. If it were to jeopardize your admittance, your counselor would have sent them earlier. Your counselor is there to help you get into college: it's his or her job. If you were rejected because not all of your materials your counselor was supposed to send in, they would not be doing their job. Colleges will not penalize you if you get everything that you are responsible for in on time. It also takes a few weeks to separate and process all of your information apart from the thousands of other applications the school receives. Good Luck and Don't stress! I hope you get your top school! :)

Do you send transcripts to colleges BEFORE getting accepted?

Hi,

Your high school Registrar will be able to answer this question in more detail. Normally official high school transcripts means the school sends the transcript directly to the university and normally you have to pay a fee to do this. Typically you will send your transcripts as a part of the application process and if your grades are in line with their requirements the university will most likely offer you a conditional offer then once you graduate another set is sent off to the university. Once the university receives the final transcript and provided your grades are still in line with their requirements they will then make an unconditional offer.

Can you send your high school transcripts after the the college admission deadline?

I hate to tell you this, but they will most likely not even consider it. You should have been keeping track of all the transcript, applications, supplements, SAT/ACT scores and the deadlines for them. If that is the early decision/action deadline, you still have time to send it in for regular admission. but if that is the regular admission deadline, best of luck!
