If You Are An Expert In Photo Editing And Image Designing

Making Image Greyscale in Indesign????

It's not possible in InDesign. You would need to edit the actual image file.

If you have InDesign, you probably have Photoshop or some other image editing software as well, correct? If you do, you need to edit the image outside of InDesign.

Well, first you need to be in InDesign, viewing the file that includes the image that you want to change. Go to Window>Links. A dialog box will appear that lists all the images that you have imported to InDesign. Click on the image name that you want to change so that it is highlighted. At the bottom right of the dialog box, you see a pencil. If you hover over it, it says "Edit Original." Click on the pencil.

The image will open in whatever your default image editing program is.

Edit your image to be B&W. Then SAVE the image.

Go back to InDesign. In the Link dialog box, make sure that the image name is highlighted. Click on the button next to the pencil. If you hover over it, it says "Update Link." Your updated image will now take the place of the old image.

If you use Photoshop, making your image B&W is VERY easy. Just go to Image>Adjustments>Black and White.

DONE! :)

Can I make professional banners and images without using Photoshop?

Yes you can do that using other image editing tools or online. But as regards to professional banners,I would not suggest to use other editors for professional work. Why take a risk. The question suggests you are not that much of an expert. With an expert all photo editing software are a tools, depends on you. There other software like:GimpKritahttp://Paint.netPixlrPicMonkeySumo PaintGrafx2Pixelmator.But thing is if you are an expert you can make wonders with Paint but not being an expert ,complicated software using state of the art in technology,design,…—-You cannot design an effective banner. Depends on you,how well you know the software. You may be a beginner in Photoshop but an expert in Paint.Yes then you can design professional banners in Paint.(depends on you). But there might be a quality difference between two, since Photoshop is the best. Now if you are beginner ,you have to spend pretty much same time in all Photo editing software as photoshop. In that case invest that time in Photoshop.fb.com/techaceventura

A question about making your own intarsia pattern? Using GIMP?

It's basically like PhotoShop, which can be used, so yes. The thing is, how many colors are you planning to use in intarsia, because each different colored area is going to require it's own bobbin and it will turn into a tangled mess pretty quickly if you have too many. I mean, I think a photo editing program is massive overkill because you won't be able to do anything remotely like that kind of resolution. So tip one is to limit the number of colors in the design.

Here are some assorted instructions for using a graphics program, such as GIMP or PhotoShop, to create intarsia charts:

Tip 2 is to be sure to keep in mind that knitting stitches are NOT square. That means the grid you overlay on the design must be made to the dimensions of the knit stitches, which are approximately 3/4 as tall as they are wide. You should check your own gauge and determine your own stitch dimensions for best results. If you don't do this adjustment, your knitted project will have a squashed image.
