If You Are Dying You Hair One Inch Away From Your Scalp Are You Still Damaging Your Hair

Bleaching my already damaged hair.?

I have extremely damaged hair from lots of dying and bleaching.
My hair is dry, will not hold color, and has broken off at the ends.
I was planning on bleaching the mousy brown out and dying it an ash blonde, after doing the last of damage I was planning on getting a couple inches taken off.
It always fades to an ashy blonde, so I figured it would hold this.
And to put this out there, this is the LAST TIME I'm dying/bleaching it in a very long time.I know my hair won't heal until I stop damaging it with chemicals.

But I am really afraid of it falling out at the root or several inches falling off after bleaching it.
My hair only comes two inches past my shoulders, I don't have a lot to begin with.

If I bleach it one last time would I lose a lot of hair.?
Are there any certain kinds of bleach I could use that might be less damaging.?
Any suggested products or types of dyes I could use after bleaching.?

I'm honestly so sick of messing with my hair but I need to do it one last time to get the color to match up and actually look nice w/ clip in extensions for two homecoming dances I have to go to in two weeks.

Thank you very much.

Why should i dye my hair away from the roots/scalp?

i'm dyeing my hair for the first time in a couple days with temporary color and on the bottle it says to dye 1/2 inch away from the roots. my hair is really short on the sides and only about that long from the roots on either side. i really want to dye my hair all over, sides included, and i don't think i can do that if i have to keep 1/2 inch away from the roots. why is it so important that i don't dye the roots? will it damage them or something? i apologize if this is a dumb question!

When DYING hair should you start at roots or the end of hair??

That depends if this is the first time you've ever dyed your hair, and if you're going light or dark. If you are going lighter and it's your first time, start coloring the hair about 1 inch from the scalp to the ends. Why you asked? It's because the body heat radiating from your head will speed up the processing and the hair closer to the scalp will lighten up faster than the ends giving your hair an unnatural color. Okay, now if you have lightened your hair it's best to start at the outgrowth first due to the fact that the hair closer to the scalp needs the extra boost to lighten the outgrowth first before the rest of the hair gets treated.
If you are darkening your hair the same thing applies. Whatever you are going to do, make sure you read the instructions CAREFULLY before you proceed. Good luck!!!!

P.S. I'm a retired hairstylist. Good Luck

If you are aiming to grow your hair out longer, should you still get a haircut and what is the purpose of doing so?

I had just experienced that this winter.  I was growing out my hair but when I asked for a trim at the salon, my stylist cuts off inches away which was 3-months worth of growth.  When you're growing your hair out, you'll still need to trim it.  Most people cannot do it by themselves, but if you're confident in your ability, trim it.  If not, still get someone professional to do it.  But you'll specially need to ask for a trim, not a cut.  Tell them you only want half an inch or a quarter inch.  The thing is, once you get a trim, it's very subtle to notice, but it's worth it.  Otherwise, your hair is just gonna look like a mob which isn't a problem if you can hide it with a hat or something.  That's what I did in this past winter, I hid my hair in a hat for months.

Will cold hair dryer damage my hair?

Yes but of course little less than heat dryerWith cool air, you can get a less catastrophic result but the long term consequences are absolutely the same: dry and dehydrated ends. The best thing to do is to use your hair dryer when it is really necessary.it is recommended to not use a hair dryer day after day. Not only does it rob your hair of natural moisture, it also makes hair more prone to breakage.Any kind of sudden heat or cold therapy does that, which is why you have always stayed away from flat ironingIt is recommended not to use spray or use it once a week in needed.. avoid over use for healthy hair**How hair dryer affects scalp scientifically**When you take a shower, water enters each strand of hair follicle. When you step out of your bath, you immediately power up the hair dryer to create that great hair style. But what you don’t realise is that the moisture that has seeped into your scalp gets heated or cooled ( in case of cold dryer) up instantly, and to evaporate it pushes your hair fibres and creates open spaces. It is these open spaces that make your hair prone to damage and breakage. After all, the roots are weakened by that sudden blast of hot hair, which means the hair isn’t as firmly attached to your scalp as it was.The way you dry your hair vigorously with a towel can also result in weak hair, more prone to breakage. It is best to allow hair to dry naturally. This way, your scalp stays protectedPic courtesy: GoogleUse a wide-toothed comb on wet hair and avoid using a paddle brush or hard bristle brush for styling if the hair is still wet. Is it okay to dye my hair twice in the same day?

NoPermanent hair colors often contain ammonia (or chemicals similar to it) and peroxide. The ammonia breaks through your hair shaft, and the peroxide neutralizes (or bleaches out) the natural pigment in your hair, stripping away color. This process of relaxing the hair cuticles to reach the cortex of your hair and bleach out its natural pigment is, essentially, hair damage. Over treating your hair with these chemicals will cause it to lose luster, break easily, and in some extreme cases, wash away with water. While processed hair can be revived to a certain extent with hair care treatments, the only way to get rid of the damage from over processing is to chop your hair off.Hair dyes causing allergic reactions is not uncommon especially because permanent hair dyes contain paraphenylenediamine which is a common allergen. People who have contact dermatitis are particularly prone to reactions because of the PPD and other chemicals present in dyes. People with skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis should also refrain from using hair dyes to color their hair. In milder cases, permanent dyes can cause itching, skin irritation, redness, or swelling on your scalp or other sensitive areas like your face and neck. Another thing to keep in mind when using these dyes is that not having had an allergic reaction in the past does not mean you won’t have one in the future. The more you color your hair, the more likely you become to having an adverse reaction.Use moisturising oils like jojoba oil regularly on hair Jojoba Oil – For Beautiful Skin And Luscious Locks! - Satthwa BlogTake careSubscribe me on you tube channel Cocoa Sonaliofficial for more hair care videos.

Did my hair stop growing after I permanently dyed it when it was already dyed a different color?

Your hair shouldn’t stop growing altogether from dying it different colours UNLESS the scalp and hair has been damaged by the dye.Look for signs:Are you seeing “broken hair” meaning that you may have dried out your hair and it’s breaking. Look for short hairs that appear to be broken half way through or half length hairs that tend to show up after brushing or combing. Is your scalp red, scaly or itchy? Those may be signs of a damaged scalpPick a point on your body/face and measure. Hair grows by certain fractions of inches each month (about a quarter of an inch). If you’re not noticing it growing in length, you may have damaged the follicles temporarily. If you’re not noticing any of these signs then, it’s very likely that your hair is growing but, it’s in a “rest state” or the dye has temporarily put it into a bit of a slow down. It’s highly unlikely though that your hair would simply stop growing because you’ve used two different colours of dye/changed your colour unless you’ve bleached it first.
