Valentine's Day Wedding?

1. I have never heard anything about being married on V Day being bad luck and have friends who are perfectly happy who married on V Day. I would not, however, recommend it at all because after you marry, V Day is the most romantic holiday of the year and you will want the flowers, candy or go out to eat, whatever,////also many people may be going out to eat on V Day or prefer to spend it with their loved one, but the Valentines Day thing and being your anniversary, one is going to take precedence over the other, so pick another date so that you can look forward to V Day every year with your honey and then be able to celebrate your very special anniversary on your wedding date. I always recommend not to get married on any holiday or family members birthday. My wedding date is my late Dad's birthday, so happy/sad time.
To add, fall is my first choice, then Spring (still cool), Summer (late afternoon thunderstorms)is hot and Winter is cold and just hard to do winter colors. Fall has so many natural items that can be used for decorations, etc. pumpkins, gourds, fall leaves , -----curly willow in arrangements, draped or baskets,------- from light peach to burgundy. My daughter had two outside displays of hay bales, dried corn stalks, pumpkins, gourds, baskets of chryantheums, indian corn, curly willow wrapped loosely around and curly willow baskets with rustic sign "To the wedding" and their initial in the other. You can go with burgundy or use the browns/taupe bm dresses. Her MOH's dresses were eggplant and bm were latte,a light chocolate milk.

2. Good silk flowers look almost real; however, the good ones are expensive. Hobby Lobby and Michaels have good sales, but maybe not the colors you want. Check prices and you might find that live flowers are close in price to the silks and you will have to have someone design the ceremony flowers, bouquets and bouts. Also, on V Day you are basically limited to red, pink and white for color options. You can go with others but to me V Day is red.

Should we cancel our wedding deposits?

FH and I were talking and are thinking about cancelling our deposits on venue and DJ and going a smaller route and have a ceremony with close family (still about 30 people) and then going to a nice restaurant for dinner. I would still wear my dress (being that I already have it). We would lose about $1,300 from our deposits, but save about $5,000 in the long run. Our wedding was going to be pretty small to begin with about 60-70 guests and cost about $7k - $8k, but for us that's a lot being we have no help and we want to buy a house. I am torn because I never have really been the "dreaming since I was a little girl" of my wedding, but I feel like I will miss out on not having the first dance or father daughter dance and little things like that. FH wants to go the small route and I am torn.

I feel I want to go with the small ceremony and dinner, but I am afraid of regreting it in the future.

** Wedding is April 14, 2012 - but if we cancel we want to do it asap so we can try and get some $$$ back if possible.

Jehovah’s Witnesses: If Children’s Day was an official holiday in the USA…?

This is one of those questions that the answer needs to be found on Bible principles and Bible trained conscience rather than a 'definite rule'. This needs to be meditated upon.

One need to take into account what is Jehovah's point of view as of to this world. We need to remember that we are not part of this world, why?, because this entire world is ruled or "under the control by the evil one". 1John 5:19. And although 'everything may be lawful for me, but not all things edify' (1Cor.10:23), some JW might decide, after prayer and consultation, not to partake in such observation. This is, if it is up to the individual to decide.

What if though, if our Faithful and Discreet Slave, represented by the Governing Body, whom Christ has put IN CHARGE of the servants in his household (Matt. 24:45), counsels us not to observe it because it might be percieved as belonging of this world? What are we to do? The answer is quite simple if your heart is in the right place. The answer is in the Bible: 1Peter 1:14 states: "As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance.", and, Hebrews 13:17 - "Obey your leaders and act under their authority. They are watching over you, because they are responsible for your souls. Obey them so that they will do this work with joy, not sadness. It will not help you to make their work hard."

We do not expect every single matter to have a 'definite' answer. We should excersise our Bible trained conscience, and if need be, await for instructions from Jesus' (the head of the congregation) appointed elders.

PediC - If you are asking ME the question, the answer is I don't know. Let me however clarify something. The WTBTS (Watchtower Bible and Tract Society) is the legal entity used by the Jehovah's Witnessess to preach, defend and legally, if possible, establish congregations worldwide because the laws of this land require us to have such organization. Our Faithful and Discreet and Slave mentioned in Matthew 24:45, represented by the Governing Body, is the group of annointed and appointed elders who decides and teach upon matters of spirituality - dogma, creed if you will - that are based on the Bible.

What is the best way to book a hotel in Kerala?

The best way to book a hotel I prefer book straight or via agency. If u book straight way search hotels through Google or any other search engines or through different hotel booking sites such as Trivago, Booking.com, Yatra etc. set your criteria and when they matches contact the hotel directly. If u gone through those sites u will have some discounts but rates may b higher. If discounts matters u can negotiate directly to the stay owner on the basis of time of travelling(off season / low season) no of days stays or max number of heads. Group stays have more discounts than single or double heads. If goes through agency rates little higher because they have their booking commissions. Kerala tourism also offers stays those are very good to stay but rates high for solo travelling. Some area offers home-stays as well holiday home concepts. U can check there rates also for tally. Now check your preferable way to find your preferable and budget friendly stay not only for Kerala as well as whole world. Happy journey.
