If You Get A Dog Off A Mates Mate And This Happens .

What happens if my dog mates with his grandma?

Most likely not but I would advise against it as when close breeding's do go wrong it generally in a big way health wise. Most breeders would call that line breeding & a step closer in relationship is in breeding which is a total no no.
Many of our top winning show dogs are closely breed, take 1 of the Collie this year at Westminster all grandparents on the pedigree are the same so the product of a 1/2 brother to 1/2 sister mating.
AKC will paper any mating except for a father daughter or mother son mating so many dogs are bred very closely indeed.
I don't agree with it but the facts are it's not at all unusual & anyone who think it is needs to go & study some pedigrees to see just how closely breed many show dogs are.
The only reason that breeding will cause health problems in the offspring is if both carry the same genetic fault & so the pups cope it double whammy so to say. This can happen with any matings but when you mate related dogs it dose up the odds quite a lot. Some breeders do close matings to see just what recessive traits may be lurking in their bloodlines. For me the real issue is narrowing the gene pool & that affect the breed in future generations even if both dogs carry healthy genes.
I just found a great blog written about genetics, inbreeding & color genes you may find interesting & it will lead to other blogs with interesting info on just how closely breed some of our breeds are & what health conditions this is causing. Here's a link

What would result from the mating of a cat and dog?

Well, first, there are reproductive barriers that prevent the mating from even happening…Dogs aren't inclined to mate with cats because it doesn’t help either in an evolutionary sense (to propagate their own species).Since dogs and cats are separate species, they have different numbers of chromosomes and therefore, meiosis and the formation of a zygote cannot occur. There is no possibility of the creation of viable, fertile offspring.I’m sure a 9th grade Biology class can explain to you the reproductive (pre-zygotic, post-zygotic) barriers between species.

Does a mother dog mate with a son dog?

It happens all the time. People erroneously think dogs recognize relatives. ’Tain’t so!I’d like to comment on inbreeding and line breeding, too. If done correctly and only ONCE this can be a worthwhile “tool”. Not only are the genes “fixed” with this type of breeding, but hidden faults can be exposed, things that may never show up. Let’s say a close breeding produces pups with harelip. Now you know what is lurking in the genes. You deal with those pups as you see fit and then are informed and cautious in the future.

What do dogs do after they separate after mating?

Speaking as a breeder from the age of 11 here. You've been warned. The dog (male) immediately lays down and licks his private bit until it returns to its normal size and retreats back into the sheath. Then he writhes around on his back in a state of glaze eyed ecstasy and proceeds to proudly strut around the yard, letting every other dog in the vicinity know he is The Man™The bitch (female) lays down briefly to lick her bits then either walks off like nothing happened or, in the case of Jillie, goes bug poop and tries to shred everything in sight. She's retired now but back in her breeding days I used to keep a bunch of old stuffed animals from the 25 cent bin at Good Will for her to destroy everytime her and Jack tied. It was that or the furniture. I lost count of how many pillows and dog beds she annihilated in her three years as a brood bitch.

Does a dog stop being in heat after mating?

A bitches heat lasts 21 days. There is a short window of about 36 to 72 hours of that 21 days that she will be fertile for as many breedings as she will stand still for. Just where that window falls is individual to the bitch with it usually falling between day 13 and 17.So I guess the short answer is no.That’s assuming it’s a bitch that you are talking about. A dog never comes into heat.

Can a female dog get pregnant by two different males?

Yes. Years ago, near where I lived - a breeding was going on of Walker Hounds, beautiful dogs. Anyway, one was born, looking like a Doberman. That dog immediately went to the local pound. Someone adopted him and he was passed along until he was mine. Everyone knew the dog, he was famous because people just couldn’t keep a secret about the litter. He was my doggie for 19 years. One day he was crying at the door. I opened the door and he stood there like.. he wanted me to come with him. I sat on the step with him barefoot and we prayed together. He would bow his head when I prayed. When I was done, reciting the 23rd Psalm, I asked him if he would like to walk together. We knew that he had lung cancer. As I turned to grab my shoes, he took off like a bolt. I never saw him again, I think he was leaving to go die alone. I don’t think he wanted me or my children to see him die.Four years later, I was in the same house, and I was running the vacuum in the living room. My four year old, pre-K daughter screamed - don’t run over the big doggie, Mom! I looked at her. And I asked, what does the doggie look like. She said he’s black and tan. No one had ever told her, that his favorite spot was in front of the fire place at night, and that’s where I was working. I believe he stayed with our family for a very long time. I still miss him very much.

Is it harmful for your dog if he is not allowed to mate all his life?

It does not harm your dog, male or female, if it never mates. Spayed females and neutered males are as healthy and long lived as other dogs. If you are concerned about the lack of hormones, you have the option of a vasectomy for a male or an ovary-sparing spay for a female. Talk to your veterinarian about options. As for what is the right age to let your dog mate with a suitable partner, for most dogs the answer is “never.” There is a consequence when you allow your dog to mate. That consequence is puppies. The world does not need more puppies (which grow up to be adult dogs) that are born just because someone decided to let his or her dog go at it. Any puppies that you, via your dog, bring into the world are your responsibility. There are already far too many homeless dogs. Many, many of these dogs are euthanized every day simply because there is no room for them. Most of them would make perfectly nice family dogs. Many are very young. Unless your dog has characteristics such as excellent conformation or first-class working ability that should be passed on to the next generation, it should not be bred.A friend and I once drove to a small county animal shelter to pick up a Doberman to take to our rescue. The shelter had perhaps ten adult dogs and two puppies. All of them were sweet dogs who just longed for a little attention and love. I visited with them and petted them a little. It is possible that one or two of them found homes or were picked up by other rescues. The rest were probably dead within a week.Do you really want that to happen to your dog’s puppies?

Will a male dog try to mate with a female more than once?

A male dog will mate multiple times a day if given the chance.

If my dog mates with her brother or dad, will the pups be deformed?

not really however I the chances of a deformity are much higher.

I have seen a neighbour who has bred brother & sisiter, mother & son, Son & daughter ect.. & all the pups turned out fine, luckily they always seem to find home for the pups even though i hate dog over population.

I know that hampsters & mice all start off new colonies by breeding with direct relatives.
