If You Have Braces. Did You Feel Pressure On Teeth And Feel Uncomfortable When You Got Braces

What do braces on your teeth feel like?

Braces are such lovely things…First, the color selection…OH MY:Then you get to have an EXTREMELY COMFORTABLE mouth prop inserted into your mouth:Don’t forget your monthly appointments. Usually you get wire changes at every appointment. The brackets and pointy wires brush up against your mouth causing lovely canker sores. Which is where the wax comes into place:The wax sticks PERFECTLY everytime!Once your teeth start getting straighter and it’s almost time for you to get your braces off, there’s only 2 weeks left of torture:I had to wear six rubber bands. Rubber bands are especially fun when they start to break in your mouth. I can faintly still hear the popping sound…You’re almost finished…wait…maybe. Time for my favorite! Teeth impressions:You better hope they don’t mess up, or else you get to gag to death for the third time. The pink stuff has a rubbery texture that gets stuck all in your mouth. Mmmmm…yummm!Next are retainers! I got clear ones:But some get ones like these:Whatever ones that you get, be prepared to wear them every night for the rest of your life or you can just start the whole process all over again! Yay!!Lol…but for real though. Braces have pros and cons just like everything else. At first it’s hard to eat anything due to the pain and feeling like you have an extra set of teeth! But after a while you get really used to them. Sometimes I’d almost forget they were there! I’m actually really blessed to have my teeth nice and straight now!Tips: Use wax it defintely helps! Take pain medicine if needed, brush your teeth extra good(Watch Youtube videos on the proper way to brush your teeth with braces.), dental floss, don’t eat super hard food without cutting it up first, and try to make it to all your appointments! If you do this you are sure to get your braces off before you know it!

Is it normal for teeth to feel pressure on them and feel uncomfortable after braces?

Hi, I just got braces about an hour ago! I am happy because I finally got them and it doesn't hurt at all. My teeth feel like they have pressure on them, but it doesn't hurt at all it just feels uncomfortable. The ortho said not to take any pain relievers and I don't need to. Is it normal for my teeth to feel uncomfortable and have pressure on them? I have crooked teeth. Are they moving or something?

What do braces feel like on your teeth?

They feel as they look, like metal bands around the front of your teeth that are made of sandpaper or a metal file. If you like that nice smooth feeling when you run your tongue along your teeth you may not like braces. The brackets are close enough together making it feel like almost they are connected by more than wire. My back brackets have hooks that sick out and rub my cheeks, a little bit annoying at times.

You may also feel the wires sticking out in the back. Take a paper clip and rub it on your check for a few hours and you will know what that feels like. I recommend making sure they trim the wires short. You feel some pressure after they are put on and again when they change out your wire. It will feel like some one is pushing on your teeth.

The brackets stick out a bit from your teeth making it feel like you have a full mouth of metal, big lips and your bracket may rub against your lips feeling again like a metal file. The Metal will rub on your cheeks more when you talk. After a month or so these things may start to feel normal and you may at times forget your wearing braces.

Just a warning braces feel even more annoying when you eat certain types of food. For example bread of all things will get caked up on your brackets making your braces feel very nasty. You may feel the need to use your tongue to remove the cake like residue from you brackets. My advise don’t bother just finishing eating then brush.

Spacers are used to make space between your back molars so your orthodontics can slide molar bands over the back two teeth.

If its any comfort I had invisalign before I got regular metal braces and I feel the regular braces are less annoying and work better than invisalign. Braces sometimes annoy me but after a few months you adjust to them and they are not really that bad.

I hope this helps.

Do braces hurt? and are you able to kiss with them, or is it hard and painful?

They hurt the most right when you get them. Then they hurt again every time you have to go back and get them adjusted. However, the pain subsides after a day or two. Just stick to soft foods until then. When I had them I kissed my boyfriend and there were no complaints on either side. Although he didn't have braces, I don't know how well it would've worked then.

Do braces hurt when you get them on or off?

Yes! They hurt when they finally put the wire in. And when you get them off, it hurts to break the braces off the teeth, and your teeth feel sore throughout every tightening...just eat cold icecream, it helps the pain....

Process:
Gluing the brace on each tooth (top or bottom row one session, other row next session.
Placing wire in the braces, next session. Sometimes they use rubberbands on each brace to hold the wire, sometimes metal pins.
Some people must wear rubber bands that pull the top row of teeth back (for overbites).
Some people must have teeth removed to make space.
Some people have to get a "key" in their palate to spread crowded teeth and jaws.

Every month or so you must go back to have the wire tightened, this makes your teeth sore...
Sometimes the braces can cut your mouth inside if you're not careful, they give wax to cover parts of braces that can hurt you....

Fianlly when they come off, the orthodontist removes the wire, and cracks each piece off one by one. Then uses a special scraper to scrape off the dried on glue from your teeth. He also gives you a retainer which you must wear for a whole year consistently, and at nights after that.

You can eat anything pretty much, except after getting them on initially and after tightening your teeth and gums are sore, so nothing hard to bite or chew. No gum and definetely no hard candy like jolly ranchers! (bad experience with that, it got stuck to my braces, and when i tried to bite it, one of my braces popped off my tooth! i had to go to the ortho and have it reglued....and i got a lecture too...)

It all sounds horrible, but it's definitely worth it! I get nice compliments all the time for my straight teeth.... :D

When braces are tightened, does it hurt?

Yes, your mouth will be sore for a day or two everytime you get them tightened. The best thing to do for the discomfort is take 800 mg of Ibuprofen, which is prescription strength.

Do brace hurt HElp plz?

Braces in your teeth, you mean?.
I'm not 11-14, i'm much more older...uuuffff, but i did have braces for 8 years, and honey, at first they do hurt, but later you get used to them. Don't worry, you'll be fine.
Eat at the begining just soft food. You could lose a teeth.
