Why do FedEx packages have to be signed?

Packages only need to be signed for if they were shipped with a signature request, or have a value over a certain amount. There are a couple of reasons why they require signature. The person who sent the package wants to make sure that the right person receives it. This will usually be a direct signature required by the person who is shipping the package. The package is being shipped to a business, and they want to have a paper trail of who actually received the package so that if it does not make it to the correct department, they know who within the organization to go talk to about where it may have ended up.The shipper has put a high declared value on the item that requires a signature in order for their FedEx “insurance” to cover the value in case of lost or misdelivered packages.A signature is intended to act as acceptance of responsibility for the package and the contents. Basically, when you sign for a package, you are stating that you received the package, that the condition of the packaging was what you expected, and that you are responsible for making sure that it makes it to the intended recipient from that point, if it was not shipped to you directly, such as if you work at a receiving department in a company.

If someone signs for a package delivered at the wrong address, are they legally responsible if it gets lost?

The other answer to this (establishing a duty of care where none exists) is wrong in law.No, you are not liable to anyone if you signed for a package. There are two contractual relationships at play here: one between the seller and the courier and one between the seller and the buyer. The courier has fulfilled its obligations because it gave the package to somebody who signed for it in good faith. The responsibility of the courier has ended. However the seller has not fulfilled its obligation, because the buyer has still not received his or her parcel. So the legal obligation rests on the seller, not the person who has wrongly accepted the parcel (assuming no special conditions in the seller-buyer relationship). If the parcel is of value, the seller might consider a legal claim of theft or fraud against the person who signed for the parcel but this would likely be for two reasons: there was no likely intent to steal and it's going to be almost impossible to determine the signer’s identity. The buyer would claim for non-delivery and the seller would be required to dispatch a replacement - but they might mark the address as prone to fraud!

Has anyone tried that wen hair care products?

I used it recently and really didn't like it! It made my hair feel really waxy and ACTUALLY weighed my hair down!

I have thick hair, that is layered, so... their claim that 'using more of the product is better' did not go over well with my hair at all.

I switched back to my John Freida shampoo and conditioner.

You can test drive the product just to see how it will work on your hair. I suggest you call in your order, not order it online. The number for customer service, where you can order the product, is on their website. They ask you a series of questions to personalize your order if you call (i.e. if you have oily or thin hair you can switch to the cucumber conditioner).

Pros:
1. You get a 'free' comb and texturing balm ('free' is code for 'included in shipping') ;)

2. Some money back if you return it within 60 days. Keep your box.

Cons:
1. It made my hair waxy

2. They claim it is 'less shipping' to send the items back, but it cost me $7.96 to ship back and $5 to order.

3. With my hair, their claim 'using more of the product is better' was not true because it weighed my hair down (I tried washing it out several times in one day over the month!)

4. It takes up to SIX WEEKS for a refund to be credited to your account!

Good Luck!

I own a shop in a strip mall and the property management signed a lease with an exclusive use clause with another store?

The store tried to sue me to make me stop selling certain products but my lawyer got the case dismissed because my lease existed first and I have no "privity" to their lease with the management company.

Now they are suing the property management company and they are all pressuring me to end my lease.

My store is small and we don't make a lot of money. Last year we had about $250,000 in sales (not profit). Since I have 3 years left on the lease, would it be fair to demand $750,000 to buy out my lease or would that be too much?

Signing up for avon just for discount? bad idea?

I absolutely agree! I've even tried to get some of my existing customers who order frequently to sign up just to save money. Most of them just say, no I'll keep ordering through you.

Keep in mind, you'll need to be sure to submit your order on time and pay Avon on time to avoid late fees. I've found a lot of new reps who don't submit a lot tend to forget about their bill and then get late fees and are frustrated. You also have to submit at least once every 3 campaigns for your account to remain active.
