If You Were To Re Write Of Mice And Men How Would You Start It Help

Of mice and men?

Hello. i really need help with closing arguments that i have to write to the jury. In this assignment, they're are putting George on trial for murdering Lennie. And i have to choose whether George is guilty or not guilty of murdering Lennie. I think that he is guilty because if prerhaps he would have not killed Lennie, and he would have been excused pm grounds of lack of mental competence and may have been given a better life than had with George. So what i need help with is how to start my closing arguments and a few points to back my arguement. I will truly appreciate your help. (i'm not being lazy...ihave been working on this assignment for a long time, and i desperatley need help now.) Thank you once again.

How do you write a dialectical journal for the book "Of Mice and Men"?

okay so i was assigned this thing called a dialectical journal for this book called "of Mice and Men" by: John Steinbeck. And so in this journal thing I have to write a detailed summary, discuss the areas of interaction and select a quote. And this journal is only suppose to be on the first chapter. Im not really sure How i should organize this or write this. Oh and i have to answer a thesis question which would be: There is a significant difference between Lennie and George, Why is that important? I'm not sure how to incorporate that into this dialectical journal. (oh and i was also wondering what dialectical means?) But thx if you can help but if not that's okay. (oh did i mention it's due in 2days).

Rewrite a scene of: "OF MICE AND MEN"?

As it might have happened if another decision had been made or something else had happened. FOR EXAMPLE:

A) What if candy had come in while Lennie was patting curley's Wife's head?
B) What if crooks hadn't backed down when curley's wife turned nasty?
C)What if the searchers had gotten to Lennie before George did?

pick one of th example it just need to be one question.....

I need help ending this Of Mice and Men Diary entry!?

you could put a signing off comment like going to the cat house etc and getting drunk

or you could leave it and then a few months later another entry, news that Curley has been killed, picked the wrong fight again, possibly by George or Crooks...

or maybe there is a revelation Slim did sleep with Curley's wife...

I really need help with writing/grammar. TT^TT?

The following passage, taken from Of Mice and Men, contains many grammatical errors.
Your assignment is to rewrite these paragraphs so that they are perfectly correct in formal,
written English.

"What kinda harm am I doin' to you? Seems like they ain't none of them cares how I gotta
live. I tell you I ain't used to livin' like this. I coulda made somethin' of myself . . . . I lived right
in Salinas. Come there when I was a kid. Well, a show come through, an' I met one of the actors.
He says I could go with that show. But my ol' lady wouldn' let me. She says because I was on'y
fifteen. But the guy says I coulda. If I'd went, I wouldn't be livin' like this, you bet. . . .

'Nother time I met a guy, an' he was in pitchers. Went out to the Riverside Dance Palace
with him. He says he was gonna put me in the movies. Says I was a natural. Soon's he got back to Hollywood he was gonna write to me about it. . . . I never got that letter. I always thought my ol' lady stole it. Well, I wasn't gonna stay no place where I couldn't get nowhere or make something of myself, an' where they stole your letters. I ast her if she stole it, too, an' she says no. So I married Curley. Met him out to the Riverside Dance Palace that same night. You listenin'?

Well, I ain't told this to nobody before. Maybe I oughtn'n to. I don't like Curley. He ain't a
nice fella. . . . Coulda been in the movies, an' had nice clothes -- all them nice clothes like they
wear. An' I coulda sat in them big hotels, an' had pitchers took of me. When they had them
previews I coulda went to them, an' spoke in the radio, an' it wouldn'ta cost me a cent because I
was in the pitcher. An' all them nice clothes like they wear. Because this guy says I was a natural.

Thank You :D

DESCRIBE THE AUTHORS STYLE OF WRITING IN OF MICE AND MEN PLEASE.?

Of Mice and Men - John Steinbeck

Writing Style

How do authors create those earth-shakingly good sentences? Do they like punctuation? Flowery descriptions? Fun accents? Five-syllable words?

Straightforward, Colloquial, Unpretentious, Earnest
Steinbeck's writing style mirrors his characters. Of course the author writes as the men would literally speak, but on a deeper level, the language of the book is simple but compelling - just like the characters. Because the language is easy to understand, it's even more extraordinary that it can carry such lofty themes, feelings, and ideas.

Though the characters never gush about each other, it's clear that they feel deeply. Steinbeck achieves this by using simple language to build characters who are more than what they say. For example, while George says he and Lennie just got used to each other, what he's really feeling is that their friendship is the only thing he's ever really had to hold on to. The language, like the men on the ranch, seems simple enough, but it's more "still waters run deep" than "OMG you're my BFFL."

Again, Steinbeck uses his writing style as another means to suggest that every story is important, no matter whose story it is. Though these characters are working class people who don't have access to big vocabularies or grand philosophies, they can still communicate about the things that really matter.

This all comes through in the dialogue that dominates the book, and is only occasionally augmented by the narration. The narrative style can differ slightly from the simplicity of the dialogue (like when the narrator is so effusive in describing Slim), but usually even the narration tells the most gripping stuff in a straightforward manner. When George kills Lennie, Steinbeck lets the language be as stark and straightforward as the act, making it all the more shocking. Part of Steinbeck's brilliance is this subtle usage of language: when he needs to make words sing, he can, but usually he's good enough that the action doesn't seem like it's clouded over with poetry. Instead, it just reads like real life.

How much time does it take to write a little novel?

When you say “little novel” I am assuming you mean novella, like The Great Gatsby or Death In Venice or Of Mice and Men. My first question is, why do you want to write a little novel? Do you have a story inside you that needs to be told, and you’re thinking it will be too much work to make a “big” novel like Moby Dick? Do you want to try your hand at writing and think it will be fun to do a short novel? When I was young I felt a calling to write. It was a serious calling, not something frivolous that I just thought I would try. In order to become a serious writer I had to do a lot of pre-work. I practiced writing every day, learning how to write descriptions, create characters. I read the classics, as many as I was able as fast as able. I listened to audio books while I painted apartments for a living and then wrote at night till midnight. Listened the stories by Jack London, Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Chekov… read Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, Gide, Mann…. and eventually began writing short stories, learning how to pace a story, make characters who would be interesting to readers, write dialogue. The idea for my first novel came to me in a scene from a dream in the 1980s. I began work on that book in the mid-1990s and felt I had completed it by 2005. Unfortunately, my mentor’s take was that it was a “golden” story (A++) but needed more work, as it was only 80% there and could be better. I became discouraged and set it aside for six more years. In 2011 I re-worked it some more and had fifty copies printed for a book signing before putting it on Kindle as an eBook. How long does it take? If you want to crank out hack work and make a book, it might take a few months. There are writing contests in which very short novels get written in a long weekend. But if you are desirous to be a taken seriously as a writer, you will need to pay your dues.I’ve published eight books (written 9) and am tackling my second novel write now. The idea is very big, but do I have what it takes to pull it off? We’ll have to wait and see. I only know that if I don’t try I will never find out.Maybe that’s the answer for you, too. If you go for it, you’ll discover how long it takes to write a small novel. A short novel, like the ones I cited above, can still be important and powerful. I wish you the best.
