Illegal To Change Amount On Claims

Is it illegal for me to claim 9 dependents on my w-4 when I don't really have 9?

This whole year I've been claiming 0 , I have no kids or anything , a friend of mine told me that if I want no taxes taken out then I should fill out a w-4 form at work and claim 9 , but I just don't want any taxes taken away from my upcoming paycheck because I need the extra money and then I will change it back to 0 , is that illegal ? I goto school as well and because of that I always get 1000$ plus most of the taxes I pay through the year when taxing season comes

Is it illegal or morally wrong to pick up and keep spare change found on the floor in a store?

Yes, it is illegal. Depending on the laws in your area, it either still belongs to the person who lost it, or more likely it belongs to the store itself. You have no right to it, regardless of the amount of money. However, for a trivial amount (like a dollar or two) it's unlikely there would be legal repercussions of you claiming it. Taking it to the counter will most likely result in the cashier telling you to keep it. Writing it up and hoping for somebody to claim it is more hassle than it's worth. That doesn't mean you're morally excused to not take it to the counter, but on the scale of morality it's a fairly minor infraction. For larger amounts, you're morally and legally obliged to try to find the owner. Often that means leaving it at the store's lost and found or even the local police station. Depending on the policy of either, if no owner comes forward you may then morally and legally then have claim to the money. If you just take it without handing it in you could end up on charges if it's discovered. Not to mention that the money might be the last of a pensioner's allowance for the fortnight and they need it to buy bread and baked beans. Even a couple of dollars is the difference between eating tonight or not for some people. There's a chance the person is still in the store, heading through the checkout and realising they've lost the last of their pension.

Is it illegal to change lanes through an intersection?

People claim it is illegal. I am in California, the Vehicle Code is on line: http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/cgi-bin/calawq...

I cannot find a law that says you may not change lanes through an intersection. Anyone want to claim it is illegal they need to cite the Vehicle Code. If they cannot, it is legal.

Holocaust denial is illegal in many countries. Should Climate Change denial also be illegal? Why or why not?

The holocaust is a historical fact. It’s something that happened about 80 years ago. There are still thousands of eye witnesses and countless accounts from people with first hand experience of that horrific part of human history. There’s no way it could have been fabricated. If the holocaust was a fabrication then world war 2 would have been a fabrication too. We know these things happened and had consequences still observable today (like the formation f the state of Israel which was triggered by the holocaust). Holocaust denial is as stupid as flat world stories.Climate change denial is obviously in a very different category. In the first place, nobody denies that climate changes. The “climate change denialism” label is a dishonest way of describing people who don’t doubt that climate changes, just that carbon dioxide could be the cause of climate change.I know that climate change all the time. I don’t believe for one second that carbon dioxide can change the climate. If you do, then kindly explain the science behind that. Don’t bother to copy and paste links. I’ve seen them all. None of them explain the mechanism by which carbon dioxide causes climate change. They are all based on the flawed idea that correlation means causation. When CO2 and temperature rise in parallel, it is temperature that’s the cause, CO2 that’s the result. It’s never been any different before, and it isn’t now. Natural warming causes CO2 to rise. CO2 cannot cause temperature to rise.Prove me wrong, if you can.

Is masking/changing the IMEI on a cell phone illegal?

If its not illegal for someone to mask their mac address, why would it be illegal to mask or change your IMEI. I've read alot of threads that expound with claims that its illegal, but I can't find anything that would deem this as illegal in the US, given that both phones were legally bought. Does anyone know of the specific law or a cite to something that can put some validity to this once and for all.

Is it illegal to switch price tags on clothes?

Changing the price on clothes or any other retail items by switching tags is considered theft; just a slight variation on shoplifting. If you were caught doing it, saying that you didn't do it or suggesting that an employee tagged it incorrectly probably won't be sufficient to for you to walk away. If someone witnesses it, you will be arrested and have to defend yourself in court.
--------------------
Without a witness, it would be more difficult to convict, no doubt about it. But circumstantial evidence is also a consideration. If you had a price tagging gun in your possession, or if it was found in the dressing room you had occupied, for example, those would represent strong evidence of your intention. Anything you can imagine has already been tried, I assure you.

What do liberals in Quora think about the conservative program "Change my Mind"?

Some years ago a creationist offered a cash price to anyone able to prove evolution. This was based on James Randi price of one million dollars to anyone able to prove the existence of a paranormal phenomenon. The difference was that Randi and his associate would discuss with the claimants to work out a way for them to demonstrate their claims in a rigourous controlled fashion.Though not done in pursuit of the prize his working with Johnny Carson to display an Uri Geller demonstration in which they made sure that Geller didn’t have access to the props used in the demonstration to which Geller agreed. Geller failed completely under those conditions. But the creationist’s offer is simply that you have to demonstrate evolution to his satisfaction. So even if the evidence presented was to convince everybody else the creationist can still claim victory by closing his mind. The same with “Change my mind” and an unmoderated debate under the control of one side can be rife with manipulation and fallacies, a favorite one being the Gish Gallop, the exposition of a massive amount of claims that are concise to formulate but take a long time to refute. The kind of claim we often see on Quora as premise to loaded questions about identity politics, SJWs and the like.
