Will prenatal vitamins help your hair to grow in stronger and faster during & after chemo?

I am very grateful that I lost only a small amount of hair during chemo, but it isn't nearly as strong and shiny as it was before I started treatment, and the growth has screeched to a halt. I need for it to be long, healthy and strong again. I've heard of girls taking prenatal vitamins to strengthen their hair, even if they aren't pregnant or planning on having a baby anytime soon. Has anyone here ever tried it? Did it work for you? A lot of vitamins make me really nauseous; if you took prenatal vitamins did you have experience any problems? What brand did you use? Sorry for bombarding you with questions. : )

What vitamins should teen girls to make their hair grow ?

My greatest concern is that you're 16 w/ high blood pressure. However, I will deal with the question you asked help with.

My questions pertain to your hair care practices and the texture of your hair:

Do you have curly hair?
- curly hair needs more water based moisture to protect the ends from breakage.

Do you have tons of breakage?
- If you are experiencing breakage, you need to determine what the cause is - usually dryness of the hair. It could be that your hair is growing but you don't see the results of said growth due to breakage (not to be confused with shedding) and hair vitamins will not benefit you if this is the case.

Do you protective style your hair?
- Protecting your ends from harsh elements can help preserve them, thus you will retain your growth.

Could it perhaps be your diet?
- Hair is mostly protein, a diet rich in lean sources of protein (fish, chicken) and dark leafy green vegetables can help promote healthy hair.

Okay, now on to the vitamins:

The most popular vitamin on the market is Nioxin Intensive Therapy Hair Vitamins. Nioxin is a hair industry leader in hair restoration.

Biotin is also known for helping to promote hair growth, however, biotin is also known to cause acne breakouts, which can be offset by taking a B-complex vitamin.

Again, if you take biotin, also take a b-complex vitamin.

It takes some time and patience to see results. A watched pot never boils. I would recommend that every morning and evening, you LIGHTLY moisturize the ends of your hair and put it up in a bun to protect the ends.

Take pictures of your hair beginning today and in 2 months time, take another picture and compare your growth.

Best of luck to you in improving and restoring your hair.

What should I do when my hair is falling out and I'm still a 17-year-old girl?

It's possible that you might have Hashimoto’s Disease, which is a thyroid centered auto-immune disorder in the family of Lupus. Basically the immune system doesn't recognize the thyroid gland as part of the body, and therefore spends most of its time/resources attacking the thyroid. This prevents the thyroid from making the amount of thyroid hormone the body needs which causes a variety of side effects, one of which being significant hair loss. It can be easily treated, though, with an all natural, normally side effect free presciption pill called Nature Thyroid, which consists of replacement thyroid hormone taken from pig thyroids. Once my doctor and I found the right dosage of Nature Thyroid and I started taking it on a daily basis, over time I noticed that the other symptoms I had experienced lessened, and at least 75 to 80% of the hair I had lost grew back.I only mention Hashimoto’s as a potential factor for you because I also experienced significant hair loss in my teens, and didn't discover that I had Hashimoto’s until my early twenties thanks to my doctor who thought outside of the box and did a simple blood test for it on me. Your particular cause, of course, could be something entirely different so it would be wise to see a doctor about it. Do ask your doctor about Hashimoto’s as a potential factor, though, in case he/she doesn't think of it as something to test for. My doctor got the idea to test me for it from me casually mentioning that my hands/fingers were almost always a lot colder and sometimes even positively icy compared to other people’s (difficulty regulating body temperature is another side effect of Hashimoto’s).

Girls: when growing out hair by taking prenatile vitamin are there any side effects?

i dont thinks so. you cant really do much harm with vitamins unless you go crazy and try to od on iron or something

I am 16-year-old girl and my hair falls out a lot. Every time I pull my hair, more than 20 strands come out. Is it normal? What should I do?

Most answers cite the age old 100-hairs-a-day tidbit, which is all fine and dandy, but you’ve had your hair your entire life. So the moment you start noticing a lot of them are falling out, I think it’s pretty safe to say you’re shedding more than the usual rate.I suffered from the same thing years ago. Whenever I brushed my hair, the brush would be full. My hairs clogged the shower drain. When I grabbed my clothes after a tumble in the washing machine, they had little hair balls attached to them. Vacuuming would always result in me having to clean out the vacuum from hairs. Etc. I figured it was just hormones or bad food, so I got myself checked out by a doc and started paying more attention to what I ate. I tried Biotin, which a lot of people use for their hair and nails, but no dice. Then I read an entry on the long hair community (yup, this is a thing that exists) about MSM supplements. Allegedly, MSM (or Methylsulfonylmethane) prolongs the hair growth cycle. As you know, not every hair on your head is at the same cycle. Your hair grows for a few years, stays for a while until it finally falls out. How long it grows until it falls out determines the maximum length you can grow your hair to. These women were using MSM to grow their hair past their butt. I started using MSM to just keep my hair. And it works. I still experience shedding, but the normal 100-hairs-a-day kind. I’ve been taking MSM for 3 years now and my hair is finally thick again. It’s also a natural supplement, so no side effects or dangers. You can get it in powder or pill form. I tried both, but the powder is really bitter tasting, so I definitely recommend the pills. (I take one 1000mg pill or one spoonful of powder washed away with water). Sometimes, solutions can be simple.
