Im Applying To A Program At My College .

I'm scared about applying for college.?

I'm 17, entering my senior year of high school and right now, everything's stressing me out. I've been thinking about applying to Kean University in Union,NJ because its in-state and has the major I'm pursuing which is Graphic Design/Visual Communications. The other night, I was looking up the application requirements for the Robert Busch School of Design at Kean and I found out I needed to submit a portfolio along with the application. Luckily, I saved six projects from my graphic design elective in sophomore year but, I'm not sure if that's good enough. Also, I'm unaware of the current gpa requirements and SAT scores that Kean allows. Currently, I have a 94.57 gpa and my previous SAT score, which was from the only SAT I've taken so far, is 1740. I've heard that it's a good score but, I do plan to re-take the SATs in October but, that's beside the point. As for extracurricular activities: I've volunteered at a rehabilitation clinic for recovering patients during my freshman year, I joined Key Club at the beginning of my junior year, and I'm planning on joining Journalism in senior year. However, I don't think this is enough to really matter.

I've been wasting my summer recently. I haven't taken a college tour or anything but, many of my friends have. I don't know if it's too late to visit Kean but, I believe their deadline for college applications is 5/31.

In addition to all this, my parents want me to go to a community college (Middlesex County College), after I graduate from high school, for two years. They told me that I could take some of the subjects I would normally take at Kean, but I would end up transferring those credits and saving money. They also told me that if I spent two years at a community college and transfer my credits, I would only need to spend two years at Kean in order to get my bachelor's in Graphic Design/Visual Communications but I don't know if that's true. I also don't know of any relatives or friends that have attended Kean that could vouch for me or anything.

This college stuff has been stressing me out for quite some time now. I wake up on most days just not doing anything because I'm afraid I'll get distracted and lose focus on all my college planning. Normally, I would just spend my summer playing Xbox, going on YouTube, or hanging out with my friends but I just can't do that right now. I need advice! Someone help me, please!

Should I apply to more than 1 college even if I know where I m going for scholarship benefits?

I m applying to a school that I will definitely get into because I want to stay with my girlfriend there. My grades and scores are way higher than average so I m sure I ll get in. My question is should I apply to another school that I m not planning on going to so the schools compete to give me better scholarships? Is this possible for them to see where I m applying or will this help me get scholarships? Thanks

I'm applying for college soon, and an animation BFA program I want says it needs 45 credits for application. Does that mean I need to go to another school or do another course first? Or complete the BA equivalent?

So the way a lot of colleges and universities work is that you get accepted into the university- even take classes from the Art department, but you don’t actually get accepted into the art school itself until your sophomore or junior year… for this, it sounds like you would really start the second semester of your sophomore year, assuming that you took 15 credits per semester (a normal amount) for three semesters. In reading the description of the link you provided, it sounds like you would get accepted to the university/college, take art classes along with your other classes in the first 3 semesters, and then at some point in your third or fourth semester, you would have an interview with the head of the Fine Arts school, (you’ll probably already know them at this point), show them your work and your intentions, and if you’ve done a good job up to this point, they’ll accept you.Why do they do it like this? They want to weed out the bad and lazy students, but they don’t know who the bad ones are when they first apply. So over the course of that first year and a half, they get to know you, learn your work habits and whether you’ve got what it takes- and if you’ve done well, they’ll let you continue and officially enroll you into the BFA program, and if you haven’t done well, they recommend a different program or force you into another major. -But don’t let this scare you- typically getting accepted into the program is just a formality, virtually everyone already enrolled in these classes are accepted and only those obvious cases (like the kid who never attended class) gets rejected. So my advice for you would be to apply to the University, then, even before the application has been accepted, contact the Fine Arts department and tell them that you have applied to the university and want to pursue a BFA, and ask them if there is anything more you should do right now to apply to their department.

I’m applying to graduate nursing programs after previous grad school dismissal. Applications are asking me to explain it. During the dismissal, I was really stressed out & not communicating well. I had a family member dying. Does anyone have advice?

Be honest with your response. We had a Yale School of Nursing adnissuons officer come to our school and explained how disclosing extenuating circumstances can be crucial in the app.He explained that there was an applicant to the school of nursing that applied who had been arrested. Because the applicant didn’t explain it in his app, the admissions started to wonder what in the world he did, and honestly it left a bad impression. The admissions contacted the applicant and it turned out the person was arrested for a civil rights protest. It was something minor in their view of the applicant. When the applicant disclosed this the admissions were much more understanding.Be honest.

I'm applying for a MAS program in data sciences. The personal essay section explicitly mentions "briefly describe your reasons and goals for applying to this program. (4 - 6 sentences)". Should I still go ahead and write a traditional 1 page SOP or should I really stick to the 4-6 sentences?

I agree with Susan.  People are also evaluating your ability to follow directions - requirements gathering.  Caveat [Because I can guess why you asked] - When I answer a data science question - I usually have logical follow-ups (answers) in the range of 1-2 if the data is available and the level of effort in aggregate it not substantially more than answering the first question.  "If you going to change the oil, you may as well replace the oil filter and air filter."

Does the college major matter if I'm applying to dental school?

College major does not matter as long as you have the required courses. However, some majors will give you a better foundation for learning medical dental principles in that you may struggle less when leaning these thing in the program. My undergrad degree was in Micribiology and Immunology, so I found anything to do with microbial diseases, immunology and histology a breeze. People who were pharmacy majors had an easy time with pharmacology of medications. But even without special background, you study hard enough you can do it no problem. But I do caution you to pick courses that enable you to maintain a very high, competitive GPA. Check the entrance statistics to UBC dentistry. GPA of 2015 successful applicants was 86% and it seems like you still need 86% to be granted an interview. This isn't even the most competitive dental school in Canada. FYI, I did my undergrad and dental at UBC but it was quite some time ago.

What does "Program" mean on an job application?

Im currently working on a Macy's application and I am on the education section, where I put in my educational experience. One provided field is called "Program" right under "Educational Institution" and before that, "Educational Level". I entered my high school and college experience for Educational Level, and then my school names for Educational institution. I just don't know what to put for "Program". If anyone could help me with this, please comment below, thanks!
