Im Dating My Friend That Ive Known For About 4 Years Now. Hes A Sailor And Stationed In California

Does it cost a US army soldier anything to take leave while deployed?

Let me guess: You, or someone close to you, is romantically engaged with someone who contacted you/your friend online. This person is claiming to be serving with the US Army somewhere, and wants to go on leave to visit you/your friend, but need you to cover costs associated with getting leave, possibly also travel costs back to the “normal world”. You’ve never actually met this guy face to face, but you may have spoken on the phone. Did he perhaps already ask you to cover phone/Internet costs from where he is deployed?Sorry to have break this to you, but it’s a scam.Leave processing is free. Paperwork associated with military travel is free. Travel to and from deployment areas is also free. This is sadly a scam that is becoming all to common.

Boyfriend of 3 years is leaving to the Navy?

Ok so please help...
He is leaving sep.20 to bootcamp and we want to get married but... He says not now because he is broke with no money and when he leaves, he is going to help his parents out because his dad is sick. I'm feeling kinda mad because we have been together for 3 years and he hasnt proposed yet even though he wants to. He is 21 going on 22 and I'm 19 going on 20. He wants me to wait 2 years then get married but were not even engaged and he wants me wait? He loves me so much and I love him alot too... Im his first girlfriend and he act like were married now. I trust him but im just worried that guys in the navy are gonna pressure him to go to strip clubs and party and drink. How do the men party in the navy? When do they go to strip clubs? On one part, I want to wait to get married because im broke too and we both need to save up and im almost a surg tech. And the other part, I feel like its not fair because I dont wanna wait to get engaged ughhh idk.. Just please help me decide.. Should I wait? Support him? Finish my surg tech (done in nov.).. Be happy? Save up money for a marriage?... But is he gonna party? We have never gone out drinking together nor watch nudity in movies nor hang out with friends much at all maybe like 3 or 4 times a year.. (we choose to because we love being together all the time, we love it) please... What do u think I should do! I need help... Pleaseeeee HELPPPPPP!!

Navy CTN out of the U.S travel possibilities and other questions.?

Hello,
I've been doing a lot of research and while its hard to find information about the CT rates, I've found a few. A lot of my questions have been answered and some I know just can't be answered given the nature of the work in the CT rates.

1. I have have been wondering however what possibilities are there for travel outside of the U.S as a CTN.
I'd love to be stationed in Japan or Spain. Or anywhere outside the US really.

2. I've also heard about something called SPECWAR and DIRSUP billets. I think specwar means working with Seal teams, and dirsup means direct support. I'm not sure what direct support means for a CTN. Also what kind of work would a CTN do in a Seal team? Any clarification about these would be great. I however understand, if no one can answer with specifics about the work.

3. I read somewhere that CTN is not a sea/shore rate, but an in/out rate. Does anyone know what that means?

4. I've also come across another terminology. IOT or IO? I'm not sure what that means. But I read some pursue it right out of A school.

5. I've heard some people make emphasis on getting their Surface Warfare pins, but again I don't know what that means. How could that have help my career in Navy?

6. I am aware that the duty stations for CTN (right out of school) are all in the US. All I've heard is that CTN's have a bigger chance of working on land at an NSA site, than anything else. Still, I ask because its doesn't hurt to do so.

A little about me.
I'm a 27 year old female. I have no dependents. I have a Bachelors in Game Design (part art degree, part technical). I have been studying programming for about a year now, working towards earning a couple certificates.
I plan to pursue a Masters in Computer Science while I am enlisted.
I choose not to seek an officer commission at the time, because I'd rather do that later. I would prefer to gain some hands on experience before taking on a leadership position.
Eventually, I do plan to seek a commission. Ideally I'd like Information Warfare Officer. (but that's future plans, long term).
I would love to travel and be stationed around the world.

Any help would be highly appreciated. Even if all you have to offer is your experience as a CTN or as Navy sailor, I'd love to hear it regardless of rate.

Boyfriend just swore into the navy... :( please help?

Why is his joining the Navy any different from you going to a college in a different state? Or even his getting a job in another state? There isn't any. Just because he joins the military does not mean that this relationship is doomed or that you have to wait for him to get out before you take the relationship to the next level. You are putting a lot more into this than is necessary. He is taking a job, a job that will require him to be away for periods of time with limited communications, yes. But it is also a way to find out if this relationship is the right one. Your getting an education is very important for YOU just like his getting a good job that will give him a steady paycheck and experience is good for HIM.

There is no such thing as a management cook position, he is a CS - Culinary Specailist who is going to be attempting to go on subs. He does not go to Technical School that is what it is called in the Air Force. He will go to A School which is only a few weeks long. He will also do Sub School which is in Groton, CT to determine if he can make it on subs. When it is done he gets assigned to a location. There are limits which can be good - Groton, CT; Norfolk, VA; Kings Bay, GA; San Diego, CA; Bremerton/Bangor, WA; Pearl Harbor, HI & Guam. Then there is several different class of subs he could be stationed on. If he goes Trident/Boomer then he is in Georgia or Washington State, their deployments are shorter which is good on standard between 2 to 4 months before they rotate crews and then in port for 2 to 4 months. If he goes to the other type then he is going to be in the other locations along with Washington State. Those can deploy for longer which means limited communications.

You can go visit him. He earns 2.5 days of leave per month and can take leave when it is approved to come and visit you. But if you are already deciding that the relationship is over in your mind then you may as well end it now.

I'm a girl, senior in high school, and I'm thinking of joining the military?

what inspired me was a lot of war movies, all the brave soldiers, being compassionate and strong and courageous

I want to know if I can start right once I graduate high school.
and what it takes?

and what's the difference between the marines and the navy and the military/army? air force? is the marines a branch of the navy seal? can someone just briefly clarify?

Why can’t the Marine Corps release my son ASAP if he is unable to adapt to military life? Why does it take weeks to send him home if he is released from the marine boot camp training?

Why can’t the Marine Corps release my son ASAP if he is unable to adapt to military life? Why does it take weeks to send him home if he is released from the marine boot camp training? The release processing is deliberately longer than it needs to be…. For several reasons that you may not like.THE USMC is trying to make Marines…. They are less inclined to give much consideration to misfits - which literally means “people who don’t fit”.The USMC is hoping the recruit will recognize the error of quitting (for any reason) and rescind their request. (See 1 above). The USMC recognizes that almost every recruit at some point wants to quit and necessarily for their future in life as a grown up and in combat need to know, really know, how to function when that panic, fear, worry overwhelms them because on some hill in some future war it will overwhelm them (See 1 above). The USMC has for over two centuries successfully created Marines and Officers that can over come any obstacle, challenge, adversary - so they can tell the difference between a salvageable and non-salvageable misfit. (See 1 above). The USMC knows the regret and shame that comes with surrendering to those doubts will plague the recruit for a lifetime and create a member of society who is less than they can be (See 1 above). The Military Life is not a square hole that only square pegs fit into. It is a square hole that you hammer the ill-fitting peg into! Shaving off the pieces that are irrelevant or useless to adapt the recruit to the new paradigm. Specifically, they will, at some point, be ready to make decisions that have life and death in the balance and not freeze up.In the end it’s up to your son to decide what his future will be. He took a promising first step my signing up. There really are very, very few unredeemable recruits. Just as there are very, very few people who on the other side of their service regret it. It instills a confidence, a tenacity, a esprit de Corps that no other job can give you. He, if he goes forward, will be forever different. My question is what do you want for your son?
