Is the Philippines still the “Sick Man of Asia”?

For the economy, nope, Philippines economy and other SEA economies are rising fast for past decade, including Myanmar. But for the military or at least for military then yes Philippines still a sick man of Asia. It have been 8 years since the day sir Benigno Aquino III become the 15th president of Philippines and the tense between China and among SEA countries about sea and sea border dispute, many country in the region have to spend more and more seriously on their military modernization. Also on this 8 years, many country in the SEA have set many achievements on national defense and defense industry. For Vietnam, they start to bought submarines, jet fighters, warships, they assemble some weapons in local factories such as Vostok-E radars, some OPV and ships for navy and coast guard. For Indonesia, they not only purchase a lot of weapons from outside but also boost the national defense industry capabilities, they produce APC, IFV, light tanks, SIGMA frigate, submarine, aircrafts, they even have a co-op 4.5+ gen jet fighter with South Korean - the IFX. For Singapore, they have the best modern equipments in the region, they assemble 4 Formidable frigates from the French, they start to built a better submarine fleet, large number of modern F-15SG and F-16 block 52.But Philippines ? I don’t see much effort from this country for her military, they purchase some M-113 APCs, some Huey, 3 retired Hamilton cutters from USCG for the Navy and only 12 FA-50 - seriously, the FA-50 is just Light combat aircrafts, it a great start, but after the FA-40, there are no sight for Philippines Air Forces to have multi roles fighters in near future, especially the President Duterte seem are disagree with Philippines military modernization. The going on Philippine Navy's future frigates also are having a bad ending, various systems of those 2 frigates have been downgrade due to finalcial cost. There are a lot of problems in every military forces around the world, but have been in hopeless situation like Philippines, there are not much

What is something you can do in Cebu, Philippines, that you can't do elsewhere?

There was a time that I’m craving for an adventure. Something that could crack people’s mind while seeing me doing that weird stuff and also I’m craving for something I’m eager to do before. My then boyfriend is a super street guy. He usually hangs out with people in the street and usually make friends with those drivers. He was an easy go adventure guy. And whatever crazy idea i went into, he always supports it.So my craving that time was this.Cebu jeepney drivers would not allow this to happen to Filipinas out there. Even if you begged them just for fun or maybe youre in a hurry, they would decline your offer and leave you there until you find a spot for you. Those drivers would not care if your late or not. They’re concern is about your safety and the street guards out there. That is totally a violation especially for the safetiness of the passengers. But in my case, my then boyfriend has a lot of friends who drive 13C. Because of his friendliness, my simple request was granted: to stand at the back of the jeep like those girls in the picture did.The feeling is quite scary for me and enjoyable but Im pretty confident that time that I wont fall down since my boyfriend is always looking over me. And he gave me instructions to grip harder and maybe step on that tube when the jeep automatically stops, there’s that body part that is supporting me.I totally feel a real badass that time.It was one of my happiest, too. That was one time and Im looking forward to happen it again.

What kind of draftsman makes the most money? Architecture?

You neglect to mention anything about your education, background, experience, etc. Can you design websites, write software programs, or other technical expertise? Are you qualified as an accountant, bookkeeper, Dictaphone transcriptionist with medical terminology, graphic designer, editor, ...??? You have to consider your abilities and interests first because you are going to have sell yourself to start a home-based service biz. For Avon, Mary Kay, Tupperware, Amway, etc. you need a great many contacts to really get started, which is why so many of those who do well start while working a full-time job until they can get referrals, etc. You also need to be able to make deliveries at times convenient to your customers. And you have a lot of competition -- from others carrying the same product line and from other brands. Do you have selling abilities that will put you in the forefront of the competition? For any multi-level marketing, you need to build a "downline" - be able to convince a substantial number of people that this is a great way to make money although you have yet to make any yourself! Can you thoroughly research an "opportunity" to understand whether & how it works, then be a truly positive force? And can you keep it up for 6 months or more until you begin to see results? Do you have a number of hours per day to devote to your biz, and can you answer a phone or respond to fax/email/etc quickly? Or are the little ones going to interrupt every phone call screaming 'mommy'? To work at home you must project a very competent and businesslike demeanor. Without some idea as to your background, it really is impossible to suggest ways to put your abilities to work in a home-based biz. And if you think surveys, crafts and other work-at-home schemes are legitimate moneymakers, have your head examined! Every day people ask the same dumb thing on YA.

Do you think the Filipinos look like the Chinese?

Since the Philippines has a lot of cultural and biological influences, I would say it depends.Steven de Guzman's answer to Are the majority of Filipinos multiracial?Having said that, colors associated with race are not clearly defined by specific thresholds, and the impression always depends on the observer.Case in point: I am a mixture of Asian and European, but I identify myself as culturally Filipino. I look mostly Southeast Asian and I don't look like a foreigner in the Philippines. This is also the case with many Filipinos, probably even without realizing it.When I stayed in Malaysia, people had their own first impressions: Chinese, Malay, Vietnamese/Thai, even British/Spanish. Malaysia: are Malaysians receptive to mixed race family/kids and how do they perceive non-asians ?A British also told me that I look "western". An Italian told me that I could pass for a native when I visit Italy. Friends who visited Portugal also said that I could blend in.In the end, race is mostly a cultural construct. Your cultural identity is more important than other people's first impression.

Im looking job within the country of usa, australia, canada as interior designer/draftsman/autocad or phostohop?

Their estimates are a little on the optimistic side. Under Thatcher the real figure for unemployment reached 5 million. If unemployment were calculated on the same basis as in the 1970s the current figure would be 3 million now and rising rapidly. As for the current policy of cuts in public expenditure the explanation is quite simple - create a reserve army of labour, cut benefits, turn the UK into an even lower wage economy than it is now to attract inward investment because of the cheapness of labour. This is the traditional economic response in capitalist economies in times of crisis. The difference is this time that the Coalition of Tories and "Liberals" are determined to roll back the Welfare State and any gains the working class made in the latter half of the C19th before Thatcher. It is interesting that the Coalition is seeking to erode the living standards and working conditions of British workers just as there is a massive wave of strikes by Chinese workers seeking to improve living standards and working conditions for the first time since prior to WW2. Just goes to show that no matter how anti-working class and repressive a regime is they cannot keep the workers in line. Cameron and company might like to take note of that fact.

How can a foreigner buy property in the Philippines?

Hi there,As with most things the basic answer is "it depends", especially when we're talking about something as complex as real estate ownership for a foreigner :)But the gist of it for a foreigner looking to own property in the Philippines is this. Foreigners may:- own condominiums(like I do)- own houses but not the land on which they are built- enter into "long" leases on the land itself(eg terms of 50 years w/ 25 year renewals)Again, there are lots of details here especially when you're married to a Filipino citizen(more options become available) or have something like a Special Resident Retirement Visa(SRRV). You could also denounce your citizenship and become a Filipino citizen(after living in PH for 10 years, I think it is) though that's obviously extreme for most.Be aware, too, that some of the very important things we(in the US, at least) might take for granted around the real estate transaction are not necessarily the case especially as you move outside Manila: clean titles, claims, and land records, in general. This could make even the above possibilities more complicated than expected. I own a condo in Manila bought through one of the larger developers and it was pretty straight-forward, all things considered. If I was looking at a "house and lot" out in one of the provinces somewhere I'd be looking to hire a real estate attorney just to be safe.As for where you might find properties for sale? There are a number of online real estate startups(like Zillow, where I work) sprouting up in the PH, like:- Zipmatch: http://www.zipmatch.com/- Lamudi: http://www.lamudi.com.ph/You could work directly with the larger developers, who have showrooms all over the Manila area. Here are a few:AyalaLand: http://www.ayalaland.com.ph/SMLand: http://sm-properties.com/home/Many beautiful places in the Philippines! Good luck!Russ

I'm an entrepreneur from the Philippines. Currently, I manufacture jackets. I want to find a business partner in the US. What website or app should I use to extend my networks there?

There are many social networks now where you can find potential partners such as:LinkedIn (here's my profile) on LinkedIn (besides professional / career focus, it's known for highest % of six-figure earners), Twitter (you can follow me here@jycmba) | Twitter (where you can find those in your specific industry niche,) Facebook (my author FB page John Y Chang) - the best place to leverage six degrees of separation principle). I'd hesitate to use Craiglist unless you built a strong filter like this strategy on kopywritingkourse.com  - otherwise, you can waste a lot of time. (your most undervalued resource)But here are some places that are not so obvious - Meetup (find groups that have to do with "import / export," "entrepreneurship," "startup," "business networking," or "fashion career." Once you sign up for one Meetup group in a specific area, they will notify you of other related groups that come up Another is Udemy - the fastest rising MOOC platform it's grown from 2M to 5 million students last year alone. These are folks who are entrepreneurial. Although the best way to connect with students is to create your own course, (I'm actually in the process of helping a friend create their first course,) you can find those classes that cover drop shipping or again ones related to your business and connect with students in the discussions.Notice that none of these are "be my partner" approaches. Let's face it. The #1 challenge you're facing is credibility. Here's what most people are asking and they're not saying to you - "Who are you and WHY should I trust or care about what you have to say?"Building relationships through online channels may be challenging but not impossible. I've formed some deep bonds with folks that I'm sure that I can even count on for a couch to crash on even though we've never met in person yet - some that have even involved money being exchanged.
